Tyson_03's Wizards Dynasty

To be honest, i'm not sure why i chose the Wizards as my opening Live '04 dynasty. But i really like Jarvis Hayes and Etan Thomas and I'd really like to see Kwame Brown do what he should be doing as a number 1 pick.

Anyway, when i play my dynasties, i usually sim the first season and start in the second season after the rookie draft. Just adds a bit more mystery and randomness about the way that certain games can play out. Also, i was really eager to get some draft picks traded to me (a feature in Live 04 that i was really looking forward to.)

Anyway, I'm playing 10 minute quarters on All-Star, getting some very nice stats using Andrew's slider settings. After 7 games, I'm stunned to find myself with a 6-1 record. I really cleaned out the team after the 2004 season.

This is how my roster is shaped:

C - Brendan Haywood (at the start of the season, i was kind of disappointed to still have him around, i couldnt find any worthwhile trades for him though. But he's been one of many pleasant surprises. He's getting 9 pts and 8 rebounds and 2.1 blocks a game)

PF - Kwame Brown (It would seem - if a sports sim game is anything to go by - that next year is finally going to be the breakout year. 15 pts and 11 rebounds from the young star and he's kept Webber and Duncan to 12 points and 14 points respectively)

SF - Darius Miles (Snapped him up in the offseason. Quite expensively, too. Started the year on the bench but has been promoted in the wake of the recent trade. Some good numbers 12 pts, 5 asts, 5 rebounds, 2 stls. But .389 FG% is gonna have to improve.)

SG - Bonzi Wells (Recent acquisition. He was traded from Portland with Qyntel Woods and Travis Outlaw (cut) for Stackhouse, Dixon and Thomas (sadly). It seemed to be one sided in their favour, but Stackhouse was a serious defensive liability, and we couldnt match up with taller teams. Have played twice with Wells and he's averaging 24 points and 8 asts in those games)

PG - Gilbert Arenas (Huge start to the season, 27 ppg, 13 apg and 4 spg in first 2 games, but has come back down to earth since then, shooting only 36% from the field and averaging 11 pts. A real defensive stopper.)

Bench - Jarvis Hayes G/F
Kendrick Lawson PF
Qyntel Woods F/G
Chris Mihm C
Steve Blake PG
Samaki Goode C
Travis Hansen SG
(Lawson and Goode were my two first rounders: picks 5 and 13 respectively. Lawson is a very complete player reminds me a lot of Chris Webber but his defensive game isnt quite there. It could be a case of "too many cooks" in 2 years time if Lawson and Brown continue to develop well, but i'll probably just make one of them a Centre. We'll see. Goode came out of high school and while i can see glimpses of a future powerhouse centre in the mold of Wilt Chamberlain (yes I'm going that far.) He just isnt ready yet. I havent seen too much of Qyntel Woods just yet. I've always been a fan of the real thing, thats why i included him in the trade. But he hasnt been too remarkable in his 16 minutes in 2 games.
Hayes and Blake havent suffered from the sophomore jinx. In fact, Blake is an early candidate for M.I.P. He's making some nice passes and hitting shots with some regularity. 7 pts, 5 asts in 16 minutes per game is very commendable.)

Players on the injury reserve are my two second rounders: Cyril Boyes and Kofi Lovell and Mitchell Butler. None have played. Boyes, pick 30, is said to be a project player, who can hit shots now, but will really need to work on his defense. Tim Thomas is a good example of the type of player he is. He's got a pro body at 6'10 and 230 pounds and a 57 3 pt rating. Lovell is more of a Doug Christie type. With less playmaking ability and no shot.

This is a champion team not a team of champions, which i believe is a big reason behind their success. Everyone's ego is left in the locker room. Everybody knows the role that they play and each plays it to the best of their ability.

I will keep things posted. Not game by game reports cos i cant be fucked, but i'll say something deep and meaningful any time i get a chance. This could be a lot of fun.

I may have to cut my minutes down to 10 per quarter. At 12 per quarter, with Andrew's sliders (which I have tweaked a little, some sliders alot) I'm still scoring in the 120+ area.

Thats more or less what i did. While i liked the return to showtime stats, it didnt feel right and i had to cut the minutes down. In our last game Miles lit up on the offensive end. He scored 37 points on 16-17 shooting. I was so pissed off when he just blew a dunk in the last quarter, cos it lost me however many points it was, but (more importantly), it was the start of a big swing against me, in which Ron Artest went stupid and scored 12 points in a row. We ended up losing by 3, thanks to a 3 by the angry man. (91-88 in the end.) Despite Darius' brilliance, we only shot 41%. Arenas was horrific, shooting 4/22, and Woods, who in hindsight shouldnt have played as much as he did, hit 1/11, but he got 6 asts and 5 stls, with 6 rebounds in 15 minutes, so he still played a role.

Yes, you'll prolly come to find that Arenas is not a great shooter in this game, which led me to trade him to Phoenix along with Larry Hughes and Chris Whitney for Stephon Marbury.

Yeah, i dont like Hughes or Whitney in the real game, and when you're under my tyrannical leadership, that dislike will ultimately lead you to being traded. Do you think there's anybody that i could get for Arenas now with the roster that i have?
