Just realized how important the predraft workout is in Association. Scouted a prospect the max number of times (4) and he was compared to Kobe Bryant. After the workout, his comparison changed to Thabo Sefolosha. Huuuge difference.
Same with a prospect compared to Pau Gasol then changed to Joe Smith after the workout.
Sun Dec 19, 2010 1:12 pm
That's why you get the best scouts you can.
Sun Dec 19, 2010 1:35 pm
That's damn drastic
Sun Dec 19, 2010 1:54 pm
True dat. Those prospects were projected to be in the top 5 so it was surprising to see a drop off from Kobe to Thabo when I was on the clock during the draft.
Mon Dec 20, 2010 3:25 am
That's pretty funny, do you ever get it the other way around? Like have a guy be compared to Earl Barron that you'd pick with like your late second round and then have him be compared to Andrew Bogut or Joakim Noah instead?
Mon Dec 20, 2010 7:28 am
Never noticed it for projected 2nd round picks since I don't scout them nor schedule workouts for them. I draft 'blindly' so to speak by just looking at their grades.
But I did draft some second round picks that turned out to have good ratings in specific attributes making useful from the get go. Most recent one is a defensive C who was my 60th pick now on his 4th year in the league. From a 65 he's now rated 83. He improved so fast that I stopped giving him development drills and training camp after his 2nd year just so his overall wouldn't increase anymore past 75 so I can sign him cheap. Even if I didn't give him development drills or training camp on his first two years, I'm pretty sure his overall would still continue to increase.
He signed with the Sixers btw where he's now getting a double-double and 2 bpg. for the season.
Another example of 2nd round picks unexpectedly improving is in a couple of posts above.
Speaking of Grizzlies, they just won the NBA championship in my 11th or 12th season.
They were seeded 4th and beat the Lakers (1) in 7, swept the Jazz (3) [who defeated us, the Thunder (2) in 5], and won game 7 of the Finals over the Roy/Lopez led Nets (3).
Kinda weird seeing Johnny Flynn labeled as a 'NBA Champion'. The team was led by Flynn, Gay, and a PF who was a 44th pick in some past draft.
That PF was the Finals MVP. Averaged a double-double in pts. and rebs.

I set the predraft workout to auto. I'm too lazy to set and play so I simmed.
Mon Dec 20, 2010 12:49 pm
You don't even have to play the workouts. Simming it will do just fine. The only disadvantage of setting the predraft workouts to auto is that the rookies invited to the workouts might not be the prospects you really want since the ai decides which players to invite.
Mon Dec 20, 2010 8:16 pm
I really don't care about the prospects(got this damn laziness when I swapped to PC version of 2k).

Association on the sideGAMES: 29
QUARTER: 4 mins
SIM: 4 mins
PLAYOFFS: 1-3-3-5
Started an association with my little brother. He's using Boston and I'm using the Lakers. We play as the opposition teams.
He opened the season against the 76ers in Boston. I beat him by 30 points (62-32 or something like that). Iggy had 21 and Turner had 19. Ray Allan led Boston with 16 points.
I opened the season against the Jazz in Utah. My brother beat me 39-36. Raja Bell hit a 3 pointer from the top of the key with 4.5 seconds left. After a time out, Sasha missed a three pointer after Jazz double teamed Kobe off the inbounds pass. Bell led Utah with 13 points. The Lakers were fueled by 11 from Kobe and 10 from Shannon Brown. Utah actually led by 10 in the third quarter but Brown was the spark as he dunked the ball 3 times including one awesome one over Bell and drawing the foul and converting the and 1. He had a big triple to tie the game for us in the fourth.
Should be a fun season

Iverson signed with the Thunder and I tried to trade for him but don't have the pieces. The Thunder didn't want Sasha.

BOSTON: 0-1
LAKERS: 0-1

You should have offered them Kobe.

Sasha is with Thunder in mine but he's buried on their bench. Go figure.
I think you'll have more fun with this one than your Stealth one. Player multi-player Associations with family & friends are the best. I prefer model of playing CPU opponents & only playing in actual head-to-heads but I can understand why you're playing each other in each game.

Well simmed ahead in my Raps association (It isn't a spoiler, I won't suck this bad)
I got into the lottery and traded up for number 3 and drafted this guy..
The rookie from England I keep talking about, Goodson, helped lead the 76ers (Number 1 Overall) to a failure again. But the trade that surprised me was this.
76ers Get:
Brandon Roy
Blazers Get:
Louis Williams
Mareese Speights
So they had sort of a Big 3 going, but they still sucked.
The Magic, Heat, Magic, and Spurs all won the championships in the 4 years...... of course we still sucked...

I subbed in Sasha for that last play only. Against Alco and Tennyson, I always destory them (even when they use Miami) with Sasha.
I still have fun with the Stealth one. I think 2K9 is still a pretty fun game. 2K11 gets a bit annoying sometimes.

As for playing each other, we're doing 29 game season and barely have time to play so it's easier for us

Hopefully it doesn't mean we knock eachother out of the playoffs

The Hornets and IversonI just started my very first Association in 2k11.
I had the idea starting with Iverson as a Rookie for the Hornets with an 80 rating. To make it not too easy i gave away Paul to New York for Felton
This team makes real fun playing with it, i think i am going to play Iverson as the Point- Gatherer as he was in his best years. Not sure if i put him on the SG or PG Position.
Maybe Felton in for Thornton would be the better solution.

I am still testing with difficulty, sliders etc...
I think i am going to 10 min quarter and some arcade sliders
Update:First game was easy, i played against the Bucks and won 105 to 81. Rookie and 10 minutes
The second game was a nightmare , the nightmare got a name:
Carmelo AnthonyHe scored
51 points against me !
I lost 103:93, for a long time i was in the lead but then i tried to play too risky and finally i had 22 turnovers ...
Against the Nuggets i played 12 minutes and Pro level. I think Pro level is enough so far, its really hard with all theese turnovers.

Historical conference final in my associatiom. Lakers and Clippers in the west, Miami and Cleveland in the east. Yep, Miami and Cleveland. Cleveland is a 6th seed, too.

My Year 2 roster(2011-12):
Starters: R.Felton, W.Chandler, D.Gallinari, A.Stoudemire, R.Turiaf
Bench: T.Douglas, L.Fields, K.Azubuike, A.Randolph, E.Curry, T.Mozgov, R.Rubio(rookie)
Reserves: B.Walker, R.Mason, C.Wright(rookie)
I would start Moz over Turiaf if he wasn't so bad at finishing inside. His close range game needs a lot of work.
Knicks are rated 84 overall, and are off to a 4-0 start. My bench is sweet, with Fields, Randolph and Curry lighting it up.
