Flynn started off the game missing all 5 of his 1st half shot attempts, he did however hit 5 free throws in that time. Jonny Flynn was dunking over Dwight Howard and the rest of the Orlando Magic bigs along with knocking down shots from all over the court. With the Knicks down by 3 points, Jonny Flynn raced the ball up court with 4 seconds to go and launched a deep three which sank as the buzzer went off to send the game to overtime, which the Knicks ended up winning thanks to phenomenal play from Flynn.
Dwight Howard had a fantastic game. In the first half he scored 20 points and played terrific lock down defense on the Knicks center, Amar'e Stoudemire. Dwight Howard was pulling down board after board and continually dunked the ball at will. Dwight Howard ended up with 28 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals and 3 blocks. Amar'e Stoudemire had 20 points on the game and would have scored many more if not for the defensive presence of Dwight Howard. Amar'e Stoudemire however did his job with 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and a block to go with his 20 point night.
For the Knicks, Danilo Gallinari had 17 points and was a perfect 5-5 from the 3-point line, Kelenna Azubuike had 10 points and Anthony Randolph had 8 points to go with 5 blocks.Timofey Mozgov came off the bench and scored no points, but pulled down 9 rebounds and blocked 2 shots. Amar'e Stoudemire, Jonny Flynn and J.R. Smith today proved to the NBA that Mike D'Antoni's run and gun offense is back with the Knicks whom defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 93-76.
New York Knicks captain, Amar'e Stoudemire once again had a dominant game proving that his combination of sheer power and athletic ability is one that cannot easily be matched. Amar'e scored 22 points off 10-16 shooting, pulled down 8 rebounds and had 3 assists. Amar'e was confident above the rim and as usual was dunking the ball with ease over the likes of Zach Randolph, Hasheem Thabeet and Marc Gasol.
J.R. Smith and Jonny Flynn also had great games with 22 and 17 respectively. J.R. Smith had 6 rebounds and 3 blocks to go with his scoring effort and was on the receiving end of many of Flynn's 8 assists which resulted in ferocious and entertaining dunks by the highflyer. Jonny Flynn was also taking it to the rack off the fast break and dunking the ball with ease. Coach D'Antoni devised a plan where the best leaper cut baseline whilst Flynn drove down the middle, allowing for an easy pass out of the shot for a lay-up, dunk or baseline jump shot.
For the Knicks, Anthony Randolph had 10 points to go with 5 blocks, Danilo Gallinari had 6 points to go with 6 rebounds and 2 blocks and Rafer Alston had 4 points to go with 6 assists. For the Grizzlies, OJ Mayo had 19 points, Zach Randolph had 17 points, Rudy Gay had 13 and Marc Gasol had 10.
The New York Knicks have won their 6th game of the season and attempt to go for their 7th in Washington, D.C. against the Washington Wizards and their rookie sensation, John Wall.![]()
