Italy - 79
France - 87
(Boxscores)

Game recap: Alicante, 4 September 2007 - The Italian team, after a good start
versus the Slovenian one yesterday, hvae lost the second game of the preliminary
round versus a strong and Brilliant French Team.
Tony Parker have
played like in the Nba Finals finishing with 26 points with 10/18 from the field and 3 of 6
from outside the arc. The Italian team started well with a Bargnani in a big night and a
Belinelli very concrete; also Bulleri and MArconato did a great job in the first, in fact
Italy won it 34-25. It was and high scoring game.
SECOND QUARTER In the second the story changed: the French Team
dominated the Italian one, also the substitutes did a great job.
Galebale
and Diawara made some spectacular actions and the key of the French recovery
was steals: they had 14 steal at the end, most of them was made in the second
and in the third quarter.
The game at the half was 49-44 for France.
CONCLUSION In the third quarter the Italian team recovered 3 points and
they began the last period down only by 1 point.
But now,
when they tought that they could try to win, Tony Parker gave them the last heavy blow.
The Finals mvp made some spectacular actions but with 2 minutes to go he suffered
and injury: Nothing special, he will play in the next games anyway.
Now the
French team is in the first place (4 points) followed by the Slovenian and Italian one
(2 points) and by the Poland one (0 points)

Italy - 73
Poland - 72
(Boxscores)

Game recap: Alicante, 5 September 2007 - A 73-72 triumph over Poland
was enough to see Italy progress to the qualifying round at the EuroBasket.
Guard Marco Belinelli had a 12 points game for the winning side while forward
Andrea Bargnani added 11 points and 5 rebounds, 9 of which came in the first half.
Just like they did four years ago, the Italians bounced back from their nightmare
start to the tournament by winning their final and vital group game.
SECOND QUARTER Italy were up 20-14 going into the second quarter.
And then with Belinelli, Bargnani and Mancinelli Italy had a 40 -35 lead at the half.
The Azzurri came out of the locker rooms refreshed and ready to run and Belinelli's
three-pointer early in the third quarter pushed their lead up to 48-37.Italy were still
unable to pull away as Poland refused to give up the fight and made sure to punish
the Azzurri for their mistakes. Four turnovers by the Italians - including two in a
row by Marco Belinelli sparked an 8-0 run by the Poles to cut the deficit to
48-45.
For the Poland Wojcik long-range bombs kept Poland's dreams alive as they
trailed 64-60 going into the final stanza.
CONCLUSION In the Last quarter the Poland team made their best to kept
their hopes up, and with Pluta in a big night they could do that.
With
13 seconds left they had the chanche to won the game trailing only by 1 but Koskarez
couldn't hit the shot: Italy won and they will go to madrid with France (3-0) and Slovenia (1-2).

Tough loss looser, Lithuania were just better in the last quarter. But I think you have good chances to make it to the quarterfinals.

Italy - 72
Turkey - 71
(Boxscores)

Game recap: Alicante, 10 September 2007 - Atsur poured in a game-high
20 points for Turkey but it wasn't enough to upset Andrea Bargnani and Italy on
Monday. Bargani scored all 18 of his points after half-time as the Italians won 72-71
in a final game thriller. Turkey had a chance to win at the end of regulation
but Ibrahim Kutluay missed a wide-open attempt from the left corner to leave the
game at
72-71. Belinelli, who is set to begin his rookie season with the Golden State
Warriors in the NBA, was amazing. He scored 14 points but with always when
his team need them; he had also 4 assists in the game
TOUGH TURKEY In the first quarter the guys started well with a 9-0 run but
the Turkey could reach them at the end of the first quarter trailing only by 2 points
with Kutluay’s three.
Neither team could pull away in the second half and the game was eventually
decided in the extra period. In the third Gallinari, the 18 years old Nba Prospect
hit two important consecutive shot giving italy a 4-0 run and the 3 point lead.
Unfortunately Ilyasova woke up in the third quarter
When he
was unstoppable: he had all his 9 points in this period and his performance gave
Turkey a 6 point lead at the end of the third quarter.
ITALY GOES TO THE NBA In the last period was a Bargnani featuring
Belinelli show: the two Nba guys put up a big show aleternating some spectacular
actions and moments of concrete basketball.
But with 4.3
seconds left and Italy up by 1 but Kutulay missed a wide open attempt and Italy now
will face Germany on Wednesday - still with a chance to reach the quarter-finals
should they win.
Turkey is now out of the Competition.
