Blazers light it up late in the 4th to win 3rd in a row!

The Blazers showed what they can do in the 4th!

1st Qtr:
The game started well for the Blazers, with Bogut winning the tip to Telfair who sent it down to Randolph. Randolph really showed is great post skill, taking it to Duncan and beating him to give the Blazers the 2-0 lead. The momentum continued to work with the Blazers as Gordon got a great 3 point play to give the Blazers an early 9-4 lead, although Zach Randolph was getting tired and had to sit. The momentum seemed to even up from that moment, as it was a basket for basket game for the rest of the 1st Qtr. The Blazers lead by 4 at Qtr time, 22-18

2nd Qtr:
The Spurs made a great push at the start of the 2nd Qtr and tied the score only a few minutes into the Qtr. The Blazers got some breathing room as Ben Gordon showed his class by getting another 3 point play to go up by 3 with 4:14 to play in the 2nd. The Spurs then turned on the gas with a 6-0 run powered by Duncan and Bowen which put them up by 3 with 3:26 left in the Qtr, 39-36. The Blazers fought back again and tied the score with only 32 seconds left in the 2nd. A wasted possesion by the Spurs was taken advantage of by the Blazers with Bogut putting the Blazers back up by 2 qith 9 seconds left. It looked like the Blazers were going to go into the half with the lead but Tony Parker hit a terrific 3 with 0.7 secs left to go up by 1 at the half. Spurs lead at half time, 48-47

Players at the half:
Tim Duncan | 9 points | 5 boards | 1 block
Zach Randolph | 10 points | 8 boards | 3 assists

3rd Qtr:
The Blazers started the 3rd playing terribly on both ends of the floor. Things got worse when Randolph comitted his 3rd foul and was put on the bench for a precaution. Spurs weren't playing much better though and only led by 3 with 5:30 left in the 3rd. Darius Miles was playing absolutely terribly! He looked like he didnt want to be on the court, missing 3 consecutive lay-ups! He was benched and did not return for the rest of the game. Things starting to work for the Blazers, with Webster knocking down a wide-open 3 to put the Blazers back up by 1. The Spurs hit straight back with some great offence and defence, putting them back up by 3. The Beno Udrih hit a contested 3 to put the Spurs up by 6. But Ruben Patterson went straight back with his own 3, showing why he is in the starting line-up. The Spurs straight back again! now with a 4-0 run and took the lead to 7! And now not looking too good for the Blazers. Zach Randolph got a lay-up to cut the lead to 5, the a stop on the Spurs' next possesion. Newly aquired Daniel Santiago scored his 1st points as a Blazer, cutting the lead to 3 at the end of the 3rd Qtr with a buzzer beating Lay-up! Blazers trail by 3 at the end of the 3rd, 69-72.

4th Qtr:
The Blazers started the 4th playing some really great defence. A 4-0 scoring run by Bogut put the Blazers up by 1 early. The turned into a 9-0 run and gave the Blazers a 6 point lead! The Blazers then started to slow down on offence but continued to play terrific defence! The Blazers led by 7 with just under 3 minutes left in the game. A 2 by Parker and then a great steal and lay-up by Bowen cut the lead back to 3! But the Blazers were just way too good down the stretch, performing the best they had all season in the last 2 minutes.

Final Score Blazers win 101-86

Deal finalised between Blazers and BobCats!

After a lot of rumors that Darius Miles was going to be traded, a team seemed interested in him. The Charlotte BobCats agreed that the trade that was made was an even one for both teams.

The Portland TrailBlazers sent Darius Miles and Daniel Santiago to the BobCats in exchange for Gerald Wallace and Jake Voskuhl.

A word from the teams and players:

Blazers GM: I am glad that we got such a good deal from Darius Miles. I am sure that Gerald will fit in this team perfectly and I hope that Darius plays well with his new team. Ruben Patterson will still be starting for us in the next game, but the 2 will both get indentical playing time and the person with better stats will be starting for the rest of the season.

BobCats GM: I feel that this was an even trade. Darius is a similar player to Gerald, but I think he has more explosiveness and i cant wait to see him on the court! He will be starting for us regularly

Miles: I was glad to get out of that hell hole! I will rip it up with my mate Emeka! the BobCats will be unstoppable with the 2 of us!!!

Wallace: I was comfortable playing with the Bobcats, but i am sure that i have a much better chance at a champonship ring with the Blazers! I cant wait to start playing and i hope to earn the starting postition

Well there you have it people! *Game 6 preview VS Nuggets will be up soon*

Team Leaders
DENVER
PPG- Carmelo Anthony (31.7)
RPG- Marcus Camby (10.7)
APG- Andre Miller (4.3)
BPG- Kenyon Martin (2.33)
SPG- Kenyon Martin (2.67)

PORTLAND
PPG- Ben Gordon (16.3)
RPG- Gerald Wallace (10.7)
APG- Jarrett Jack (3.2)
BPG- Gerald Wallace (2.17)
SPG- Gerald Wallace (1.5)

This will be a hard game for the Blazers. The Nuggets are a Northwest division rival with a very strong inside game on both ends of the floor. Guards should get some good stats while exploiting the weekness of the Nuggets back court. Expect Carmelo to get a lot of points of course because he is leading the league in scoring. I think the guards will have a tough time driving with Martin and Camby in the post. Overall should be an entertaining game.

GamePlan
Shut down Carmelo
Exploit the weak Nuggets' back court
Gordon will be go to guy while playing on Lenard

Prediction

Blazers win in OT in the final seconds....115-114 (OT)

Sun May 06, 2007 1:31 pm

Wallace will be a factor sixth-man for me and also do not let Camby block any shot and win the game (Y)

Sun May 06, 2007 1:33 pm

Hmm... I predict a Denver win to be honest. I'm surprised you aren't starting Wallace. He'd do a lot better than Patterson, especially when guarding Carmelo.

Sun May 06, 2007 1:34 pm

Great trade should give u another weapon and i think you will be able to beat the Nuggets good luck :D

Gordon's 47 points not enough to keep winning streak alive!

Gordon got on fire, scoring 41 points in the second half!

1st Qtr:
The game started terribly. The Blazers won the tip and looked to score with a drive from Patterson, but he stepped on the line while attempting the shot. Luckily, Denver didnt start very well either and the game went basket for basket for the 1st few minutes until Demarr Johnson knocked down a 3 to put the Nuggets up 11-8. Things got worse from there with Eduardo Najera getting a 4 point play! which gave the Nuggets a 15-8 lead! The Blazers fought back slightly but couldnt tie the scores up again. The Nuggets led by 4 at the end of the 1st qtr, 24-20.

2nd Qtr:
The Nuggets started the 2nd qtr with an 8-2 run, going up by 10 early. The Blazers didnt really seem to be able cut the lead much, but stayed with the Nuggets, thanks to some good offence and defence by newly aquired Gerald Wallace. The Nuggets with another good qtr, lead by 9 at the half. 44-35.

Players at the half:
Nene | 6 points | 7 boards(5 offensive)
Zach Randolph | 6 points | 3 boards(2 offensive) | 1 assist

3rd Qtr:
Ben Gordon started to warm up early in the 3rd, but still couldnt bring the Blazers back to a small losing margin, trailing by 7 with 3:07 left in the qtr. But Gordon kept working and brang the Blazers back within 5! although the Nuggets would hit back and lead by 7 at the end of the 3rd Qtr, 62-55

4th Qtr:
Nothing much happened for the start of the last, with some basket for basket scoring again. Gordon was still on fire, bringing the Blazers back within 5 with 4:20 left in the game! And Gordon again! now the deficit is back to 3! It looked like the Blazers were going to run over the top of Denver and get the win, but the Nuggets fought back again! stretching the lead back out to 6 with 2:18 left in the game. After a couple of possesions, Ben Gordon got a 3 point play which made them only trail by 4 with 1:28 remaining! A very costly turnover by Andre Miller gave the Blazers the ball with 57 seconds left and only trailing by 4. Of course the ball was given to Ben Gordon in a situation like this, and he didnt disappoint, getting to the free throw line. After making both free throws, the Blazers only trailed by 2 with 38 seconds to go! The Nuggets put the ball into the hands of Carmelo Anthony, who got to the line and nailed both free throws to finish off the Blazers. The Nuggets hold on to win by 5.

Final Score Nuggets win 88-83
