[ OAKLAND, Calif., Oct. 19 (Ticker) ] -- Looks like no one told Shawn Marion that this was a preseason game.

Marion led the Phoenix Suns to a 132-98 blowout in Oakland against the Golden State Warriors, scoring a career-high 57 points.

"The Matrix" shot 23-of-35 from the field, including 5-of-7 3-pointers, and 6-of-7 free-throws. He also had 13 rebounds and 4 blocks.

Marion sent the crowd crazy when he scored his 51st point, a freestyle dunk over Calbert Cheaney, in the first minutes of the last quarter.

"Well, I don't have words to describe what Shawn did today," Mike D'Antoni said. "His performance was just unbelieveable."

Eddie House, who started in place of Steve Nash (D'Antoni's decision) scored 12 points, and grabbed 9 rebounds. James Jones today had a better game with 11 points and 5 rebounds.

Nash had a double-double coming from the bench, with 12 points and 10 assists.

"Well, they already built up a big lead in the first quarter, and that was it. It's preseason, we still have stuff to work out. We got to work on our defense and talk to each other. Everybody has got to step up," Warriors coach Mike Montgomery said.

Warriors' first-round pick Ike Diogu started as center and posted 8 points and 10 rebounds; when Jason Richardson led Golden State in scoring, with 21 points.

Baron Davis shot a poor 5-of-22 from the field for 19 points.

"Well, we had one of our worst games. It seemed like we runned out of gas. They wanted it more than us," Davis added.

* Davis with a lay-up, in the 3rd quarter
* Zarko Cabarkapa added 7 points for the Warriors
* Derek Fisher had 15 points coming from the bench
* Davis again
* Davis again
* Marion's dunk over Cheaney
* James Jones over Troy Murphy
* Davis with the long 3
* Pat Burke stepped up for Phoenix, with 8 points

well it is the suns, wait till he gets stoudemire back and hell be scoring 150 a game

Thu Jan 05, 2006 1:21 pm

Like I said, that's awesome, but I think you need to adjust your sliders. Looks like 3's are good, but I think you need to turn up FT difficulty. If you go 28-32 for most of your games, it's too easy for you. You even had Nash coming off the bench :o

Thu Jan 05, 2006 8:31 pm

as always Thierry, you've got a great clean layout to your recaps (Y)

good to see James Jones figuring in your system....he's a good kid and can shoot the rock....

Thanks X :) Well... I'm trying to make James figure in the system, and I shoot 7-9 shots per game with him, but I don't get very good scores... I was thinking in trade him in a package with other players... I'm interested in 2 PFs and a SG.

Tough loss man, Seattle is a pretty hard team to beat with Ray Allen and Lewis, good luck next game (Y)

Sun Jan 08, 2006 8:54 am

That's funny, I just played the Suns in my Seattle Dynasty and beat them with a similar score wearing my Alternates. :P Tough loss for you though but your pre-season record is still strong. I also like the new added feature for your recaps. (Y)
