Sonics Victorious in Playoff Rematch

Image99 Image107

After finishing up with the East, the Sonics returned home to Key Arena to face their rivals from the West in a Play-off rematch against the Kings.

The Supersonics, led by Rashard Lewis' 25 points and 9 Rebounds were able to control the Kings for the most part despite Mike Bibby's impressive 28 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Bibby proved to be the Kings' number one asset but was not able to get the victory. The Kings fell short 107-99.

The Supersonics got off to a great start as they dominated the first half. The Kings struggled from the field but redeemed themselves in the second half and almost mounted a huge comeback. But the duo of Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis proved to be too much for the Kings who lost yet again to the team who knocked them out of the play-offs the previous season.

Brad Miller was a monster on the boards with 19 rebounds, he was able to add 16 points. Shareef Abdur-Rahim and Peja Stojakovic also each added 16 and Abdur-Rahim notched a double-double with 11 rebounds. Bonzi Wells completed the impressive stat lines of the Kings' starters with 17 points.

I won't be playing all 82 games so some will be simmed. I play the games that I want to and sim the others. I never said I would only sim a specific number of games.

Very nice 06 Sonics dynasty. (Y) It is as good as your 03 franchise. Ridnour had 8 big blocks. He is an exceptional great defender. Goodluck on your next game.

Help is on the Way, Sonics Strike a Deal

Image

The Seattle Supersonics announced that they have acquired forward Drew Gooden from the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for forward Vladimir Radmanovic and guard Mateen Cleaves.

Gooden was acquired to add some much needed strength down low and provide the team with more rebounding to help them in the long run.

Gooden averaged 10.8 Points, 11.1 Rebounds and 1.3 Blocks Per Game with the Cavaliers in 05-06.

"I'm very glad and excited to be here in Seattle. I'm very confident in this team, they have the stars and the attitude and mindset to win and I think that we can go far in the play-offs." Gooden said.

In exchange for Gooden, the Sonics shipped Vladimir Radmanovic to the Cavs who is a great long range shooter along with guard Mateen Cleaves who will be much more help to the Cavaliers than he was to Seattle. Cleaves will backup Eric Snow and Damon Jones as Radmanovic will likely backup Donyell Marshall.

Sonics Hold on for Win against Pacers

Image89 Image94

The Seattle Supersonics once again were able to pounce on their opponents right from the get-go as the Pacers were manhandled for the most part of the first half, leading the Sonics to victory.

It would get very close though near the end as the Pacers almost mounted a comeback to beat the Sonics in their home court. But the Sonics would hang on thanks to Ray Allen's game-high 27 points.

The key to the Sonics' win was completely shutting down Jermaine O'Neal and Ron Artest. The Pacers dynamic duo were held to 17 points combined. Jamaal Tinsley, though, had a solid night with 21 points to go along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists.

Drew Gooden showed how much of a difference he could make down low to help the Sonics as he grabbed a team-high 11 boards and did a nice job shutting down Jermaine O'Neal of the Pacers.

The Sonics will face the New York Knicks next before heading back to the West.

Sonics Key Player Stats

Ray Allen- 27 Points
Rashard Lewis- 11 Points|4 Rebounds
Luke Ridnour- 14 Points|8 Assists
Drew Gooden- 12 Points|11 Rebounds
Danny Fortson- 10 Points|3 Rebounds
Vitaly Potapenko- 6 Points|7 Rebounds
Nick Collison- 8 Points|4 Rebounds

Pacers Key Player Stats

Jamaal Tinsley- 21 Points|6 Rebounds|5 Assists
Stephen Jackson- 15 Points|2 Assists
Jermaine O'Neal- 10 Points|4 Rebounds
Jonathon Bender- 8 Points|13 Rebounds
Ron Artest- 7 Points|3 Assists
Fred Jones- 11 Points|3 Rebounds
Sarunas Jasikevicius- 10 Points

Nice win against the Pacers. BTW, nice trade (Y) Gooden can be very helpful

Sad to see the Kings lose but great win for you. Nice win against the Pacers, nice job containing O'neal to only 10 points and 4 rebounds. Your record is slowly getting better. Keep it up. Oh yeah, great debut from Gooden on his first game with Seattle.

^BTW, he won against the Kings.
