The Hornets Host the Timberwolves for Maggette's debut

Image

The Hornets host the Timberwolves as the Hornets welcome Corey Maggette to his new home.

Starting Line-Ups

Image

Key Match-Up

Rashard McCants vs. Corey Maggette

Which one of the "newcomers" will help their team the most tonight?

1st Quarter

The Maggette trade began to look like it was worth it as he dished out his first assist and his first points inside 2 minutes for his new team but the Hornets suddenly looked like an amateur Pre-school team by making too many turnovers and bad decisions. The Hornets managed to keep themselves in the game then PJ Brown went up for a rebound and then a shot and injured his upper body. The Hornets staff decided to not bring him back into the game for his and the team's sake. Both Maggette and Chris Anderson began to lift their games up to give the Hornets a slight lead. Somehow the Timberwolves got their lead back which was a shame. Latrell Sprewell was put on the court to replace the tiring Graham and the crowd started to go crazy and Sprewell began trash talking KG. Sprewell got his first point for the Hornets when he went up for a lay-up and got bumped by Olowokandi and made the shot, Sprewell then scored on the fast break to give his new team the lead. The Hornets lost the lead again but another Sprewell score after being bumped midair leveled the scores at 23 a piece. The Hornets were playing great but they were commiting too many stupid fouls. Bass scored 1/2 free throws as the quarter ended with the scores 28 a piece. This quarter was the most exciting quarter so far this season. (makes me want to play live again)

2nd Quarter

The scores continued to be even as Rasual Butler played his first minutes for the season. Maggette decided to go on a posterizing spree as he posterized McCants then Jaric. Maggette began to get fouled a lot more and he wwas making free throws then a sloppy defensive play let Jaric get an easy bucket so Scott called a timeout. The Hornets gave up their lead but they attacked the Wolves' defence as hard as they could with nice buckets and drawing fouls but the Hornets defence and rebounding needed a bit of work. The Hornets weren't getting many calls from the referees as the Wolves finished the quarter ahead 60-54.

Key Players at the Half

Kevin Garnett and Corey MAggette

3rd Quarter

Chris Paul finally got his first points of the match, he has been disappointing thus far in this match but other players have made up for it. The Wolves continued to have the lead but Chris Paul decided to fire up by making a few assists and nice jumpers as he helped the Hornets tie the game up at 68 a piece. Corey Maggette hit the adjusted shot but missed the and one to give his team a 2 point advantage. Maggette continued to create fouls and convert on the charity stripe to help his team keep their lead. Maggette finally reached his goal in getting KG in foul trouble with a nice adjusted shot and the buy missed the and one to give his team a 3 point advantage, small but precious. Joey Graham scored 4 points in a row to give his team a 7 point advantage and signs were showing that KG and Eddie Griffin, also in foul trouble, were dearly missed. Somehow, the Wolves did their best to keep themselves within 5 points of the lead. The Hornets finished the quarter ahead 90-84.

4th Quarter

Both teams started the quarter strongly but the Hornets looked more confident and stronger than the Wolves. The Wolves started to make a small comeback led by KG but Maggette got KG his 5th personal and Maggette scored his 40th points of the match and it looked like someone else would have to stand up for the Wolves. The Wolves got the deficit down to 4 points but Maggette hit a nice 3 pointer to take it back out to 7 with 3:25 left in the game. Maggette hit a shotclock beating dunk with 1:50 left in the game as the Hornets had a 7 point lead, so the Wolves called a timeout. Maggette hit his 51st point with another dunk with 1:22 so the Wolves used their final timeout. The Wolves missed the shot and Maggette went on the fastbreak and dunked it nicely. It looked like it was over for the Wolves. The Wolves began fouling the Hornets but Macijauskas made all his free throws as the Hornets won this game 122-114.

Igor Skrnjug was glad with the 3rd win of the season, he was happy that the whole team played well together with the 2 new players and was glad with the performances of Maggette, Chris Anderson, Joey Graham and Latrell Sprewell off the bench. He also mentioned that Araujo and Bass did excellent on the boards and in defence as PJ Brown was down. The Hornets injury staff announced that PJ Brown has sore ribs and will be able to play in the next game.

hehe, I WON, all by myself, I thought I was playing on Starter difficulty cos I won, but I checked and it was all-star  , Jugs.

Hornets travel to Seattle

With PJ Brown having a minor injury, the Hornets travelled to Seattle to verse the Supersonics. Corey Maggette and his new team went on a huge first quarter run as the Hornets finished the quarter ahead 32-17. The 2nd quarter saw another high scoring battle as it was PJ Brown and Birdman versus Rashard Lewis and Ray Allen. The Hornets still had a 59-47 lead to finish the half. The 2nd half continued to be a high scoring battle as the Hornets scored 57 points to 54 in this half to win the game 116-101. Player of the game was Corey Maggette with 37 points, 7 assists and 2 steals. Other great players for the Hornets were Chris Anderson with 20 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocks, PJ Brown with 20 points in 19 minutes and Joey Graham with 7 points and 9 rebounds. Rashard Lewis had a great game for the Sonics with 37 points and 9 rebounds, Ray Allen scored 27 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds.

Hornets travel to Oakland

The Hornets travel to Oakland to verse the very skillful Golden State Warriors. The first half was the best half of basketball the world had ever seen coming from the Hornets, it was simply spectacular. Corey Maggette and Chris Paul were a great offensive combo and PJ Brown grabbed 11 boards in the first half. The Hornets finished the half ahead 70-39. It was embarrasing for the Warriors homecrowd. But things weren't the same in the second half, this half belonged to J-Rich and B-Diddy as the Warriors outscored the Hornets 56-30 but the Hornets managed to win the game 100-95. Player of the game was Corey Maggette with 33 points, 7 assists and 3 rebounds. Other great players for the Hornets were Chris Paul with 19 points, 5 assists and 3 rebounds, PJ Brown with 9 points and 17 rebounds. Jason Richardson scored 23 points, 7 assists and 10 rebounds, Baron Davis contributed with 21 points and 6 assists.

Atlanta and the Hornets agree to trade

The Atlanta Hawks and the Hornets have agreed to a trade which sends PJ Brown and Jackson Vroman to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for Al Harrington. PJ Brown will be starting Center and Jackson Vroman will be 3rd string Center. Al Harrington will be starting at the Power Forward position for the Hornets tomorow in their game against the Denver Nuggets. Al Harrington will wear the number 4 for the Hornets.

30/11/2005

Hornets travel to Denver to play their last game of the month against the Nuggets

The Hornets have won 5 of their last 6 games as they introduce another new player named Al Harrington. The first quarter was extremely horrible as the Nuggets showed that they deserve to be a top 10 team of the league with Carmelo Anthony going on a nice scoring spree as the Nuggets finished the quarter ahead 35-13. The 2nd quarter was relatively even but the Nuggets still had a nice lead. Same thing continued in the 3rd quarter but the 4th quarter saw the Nuggets go on another nice run as they won this game 118-84. Player of the game was Carmelo Anthony with 32 points and 10 rebounds. Marcus Camby had 19 points and 9 rebounds. For the Hornets, Chris Anderson scored 12 points and grabbed 10 boards.

The Hornets host the 76ers

Image

The Hornets finally come home to host the Philadelphia 76ers to give their home crowd their first taste of Al Harrington.

Starting Line-Ups

Image

Key Match-Up

Chris Paul vs. Allen Iverson

Which one of these quick guards will be the quickest tonight?

1st Quarter

Both teams started strongly and scoring quickly and the 76ers had the slight advantage. The Hornets began to play a lot stronger and eventually took the lead back. Chris Paul went up for a lay-up, got bumped Dalembert and made the a shot as well as the and one as the Hornets nearly gained full control of the game. The Hornets started to play awesome defence and finished well on the fast breaks as they finished the quarter ahead 32-25.

2nd Quarter

The 76ers went on an 8 to 2 run to begin the 2nd quarter so Byron Scott called for the timeout. Allen Iverson hit a 3 pointer to even the scores at 36 a piece. Allen Iverson became unstoppable but the Hornets managed to keep a minor 1 point lead. Corey Maggette was moved to PG to guard AI and control the offence and Sprewell was put to SG and this paid off straight away as Corey stole the ball off AI and made an assist to Sprewell. AI was completely shut down but the match was still close. Al Harrington was put back on the court despite having 3 fouls and he made an impact on the offensive end for the Hornets, scoring 7 points, as the Hornets finished the quarter ahead 59-47.

Key Players at the Half

Allen Iverson and Corey Maggette

3rd Quarter

Both teams were playing strongly again as Allen Iverson lifted his game up once again. The risk of keeping Al Harrington on became costly as he picked up his 5th personal foul and was going to be benched until needed in the 4th quarter. The 76ers kept pushing to make a decent run but the Hornets played some nice defence to keep their double digit lead. The Hornets felt that a 13 point lead was big enough for the Hornets to play 5 of their rubbish minutes players on the court against a full 76ers team. The Hornets rubbish players actually managed to increase the lead slightly then Araujo received a leg injury and due to not wanting to risk him, was going to sit out the rest of the game. The 76ers made a last minute comeback but the Hornets finished the quarter ahead 94-82.

4th Quarter

Both teams once again started evenly as Al Harrington was put back on but at his favoured SF position. The Hornets continued to play well to keep a nice double digit lead going into the final 5 minutes of the match. Al Harrington, Chris Anderson and Brandon Bass were all on 9 rebounds each then Chris Anderson, Bass then Al Harrington grabbed a rebound each to all get a double-double. Unfortunately, Al Harrington got fouled out but he had a decent game, definitely better than his previous game. The Hornets lead was still in double digits with 2 minutes left in the game so it looked like the Hornets had this game. The lead was cut to 11 with 25 seconds left in the game but Arvydas Macijauskas hit a 3 pointer which sealed the match as the Hornets won this game 126-114.

The Hornets, coming off 3 consecutive losses, are playing a reasonably easier team tonight, but that doesn't mean they can slack off. The first half was extremely tight as the Hornets had a slight 2 point advantage at half time. The 3rd quarter saw the Hornets go crazy and take over the game but the Trailblazers managed to make a comeback in the final quarter and with a buzzer-beating 3 pointer from Darius Miles, the game was going into overtime. Overtime saw both teams struggle for points but the Hornets won the 5 minute extra time with a score 8 to 2 as the Hornets won this game 98-92. Amare, Marion and Nash host the Hornets

Image

Amare, Marion and Nash (a.k.a the Phoenix Suns) are hosting the New Orleans Hornets tonight.

Starting Line-Ups

Image

Key Match-Up

Chris Paul vs. Steve Nash

Which one of these leaders will lead their team to victory tonight?

1st Quarter

The main objective for the Hornets in the first quarter was to get both Marion and Stoudemire into foul trouble, both had received one foul each in the 45 seconds as the Hornets were up 4-0. Stoudemire scored down low and then a few plays later, Marion received his 2nd personal. Maggette went to get fouled by Stoudemire but posterized him instead. Chris Anderson picked up his 2nd personal foul as well and he was in foul trouble. The Hornets strategy became set, they were going to drive in and look for the foul as many times as possible, trying to expose the weak bench of the Suns. Brandon Bass started to set many picks for Chris Paul and he managed to capitalize on them just when the Suns began to fire up. Both Maggette and Paul were on absolute fire and put their team to a double digit lead as the Suns had no answer to the Hornets. A Nash lead comeback saw the deficit sliced in half but the Hornets made sure they would have a lead at the end of the quarter. Brian Grant hit a buzzer beating prayer as the Hornets finished the quarter ahead 35-31.

2nd Quarter

Chris Paul went on another scoring spree but Chris Anderson picked up his 3rd personal which was the only setback for the Hornets. The Hornets suddenly looked like crap as the Suns managed to even the scores at 40 points a piece so Byron Scott called for the timeout. A defensive breakdown lead to Eddie House scoring an easy basket and giving the Suns the lead, then Chris Paul went up for a lay-up and injured his leg, but gave Marion his 3rd personal. The doctors decided to keep him benched for the rest of the game. Maggette picked up his 3rd personal and it looked like the Hornets were gone. Macijauskas was put onto the court and he opened with a nice fast break 3 pointer. Sprewell scored a fastbreak lay-up which evened the scores again at 50 points a piece. Stoudemire began to take over the game as this became frustrating for the Hornets. The Suns finished the quarter ahead 67-58.

Key Players at the Half

Chris Paul and Amare Stoudemire

3rd Quarter

This game was becoming the worst display of laziness in the entire NBA, no-one would contest Amare Stoudemire for any rebounds, it was disgraceful. Macijauskas was put on and his shooting kind of inspired his team but the Hornets needed more inspiration. The deficit was cut to 6 points but Marion made a nice dunk over Harrington so the Hornets called a timeout. The Hornets kept closing in onto the lead but Harrington made a stupid foul on Nash who was shooting a 3 pointer to give him 3 Free throws. Nash became top scorer as his team finished the quarter ahead 95-89.

4th Quarter

Both teams went shot for shot including Maggette posterizing Stoudemire. Macijauskas hit a nice 3 pointer to get his team within 1 point of the lead and the Suns crowd went totally silent. Stoudemire hit a tip-in but Macijauskas scored another 3 to level the scores at 101-101. Macijauskas hit a 3rd 3 pointer in a row to get himself the lead in top scorers for his team and gave back the lead to his own team. Macijauskas hit another 4 points for his team and then Harrington stole the ball and dunked it on the fast break and it looked like the Hornets had control of this game. With 4 minutes left in the game, the Hornets took the risk of not using a timeout and taking off Maggette, Bass, Anderson and Macijauskas. So the first thing that happens is Jim Jackson makes a 3 point play. The Hornets "scrubs" managed to put the lead to 10 points then a Joey Graham 3 pointer over Nash pretty muched sealed the game. But suddenly, Jim Jackson hit 2 3 pointers in a row so the Hornets called a timeout with 1:10 left on the clock. The Suns started to foul and Birdman managed to score both of his free throws and the Suns called a timeout. Nash went up for a lay-up and got fouled by Bass and made the shot and the extra 1 to cut the deficit to 6 points but the Suns decided not to foul so the Hornets tried to waste as much time until they got fouled but they then fouled Macijauskas with 44.4 seconds left in the game and he scored both free throws. So the Suns called their last timeout, got the ball to Marion and he scored down low so the Hornets inbounded the ball and got it to Birdman of all people and got fouled but he sunk both of his free throws with 39.8 seconds left in the game. Steve Nash missed the 3 pointer then Bass grabbed the rebound and he got fouled and missed both shots but Rasual Butler grabbed the board and got fouled and he scored both free throws with 27.5 seconds left in the game. Nash hit another 3 point play and Maggette got fouled again and he scored both free throws with 22.6 seconds left in the game. Stoudemire dunked the ball but Maggette got fouled again and made his free throws with 12.8 seconds left, the Suns have no chance of coming back 9 points down. Jim Jackson hit a 3 pointer and Maggette scored 2 free throws again with 5.8 seconds left in the game, GIVE UP! Jim Jackson scored another 3 pointer with 0.5 seconds left but it was over for the Suns as the Hornets won the game 135-130.
