The Cavaliers started early to try and bury the hatchet before the Spurs could get hot, but it seemed they were already hot. The Spurs were not laying down to anyone and they still had revenge on their minds. Bruce Bowen unexpectedly scored 8 points that quarter, and Tim Duncan just owned the boards. LeBron James and Damon Jones scored 7 points a piece and Bron dished out 3 dimes to give the Cavaliers the lead at the end of the first quarter by 6, (26-20).
This looks like it will be a great game, and will more than likely come down to the last few minutes of the game. The Spurs and getting their guards open and hitting the shots, and driving and drawing the foul. Time Duncan finishes the half with 11 points and 8 rebounds, on the other end LeBron scores 13 points and gets 5 assists to his name. Cleveland keeps up the good play and has the lead still by 6 points, (49-43).
The San Antonio Spurs are starting to pick up the pace a little bit. They are getting the ball down low to Duncan a lot more which is what they need to do to win this game. LeBron struggled a little bit in that quarter but he has still kept his team in this game. Will the Spurs remain the top team in the West and the only with 12 wins or will the Cavs get in double digits in the win column? The last quarter will decide this close game, the Spurs have the advantage by 1, (71-70).
Wow what a game. Lets skip all the unimportant facts of this quarter and just head straight to the last 1:30 of the game. The score is 84-84 when LeBron James pulls up and knocks down a 3. The next trip down the floor for the Cavs, Larry Hughes pops one from down town, swish. The score is 90-84 in favor of Cleveland. But thats not the end. The Spurs manage to come back and tie it up with under 24 seconds left in the game, but Marshall soon scores an easy 2. The Spurs now have the ball and put up a shot, miss, James gets the rebound and is fouled. 5.3 seconds in the game, and James misses the first. Now the Spurs still have a chance, and LeBron knocks down the 2nd freethrow, 93-90. A Timeout is called and the ball is taken out from halfcourt, its thrown into Tony Parker, Duncan sets him a screen and Parker finds Manu Ginobili in the corner, Manu with the shot... SWISH! ITS OVERTIME! (93-93).
The Cavs could not keep up the excellent play in the extra period of play. Donyell Marshall fouls out in the first few seconds of the Overtime quarter and here comes Drew Gooden, and with avengance. Gooden only played limited minutes but was able to score 8 points, which kept the game fairly close. Marshall finished with 16 points. Tim Duncan and Manu could not be stopped tonight and prevailed in Overtime to get revenge on Cleveland. They win by 3, (110-107).
Overview: The San Antonio Spurs continue to dominate their Division, the Western Conference, and pretty much the entire league. They are now 12-2 after tonights win and the way they have been playing as of late they look unstoppable. LeBron James scores 29 points tonight along with 10 assists, and Larry Hughes also knocks down 29 points but it was not enough to overcome the Spurs. Ilgauskas scored 12 and grabbed 15. The Cavaliers are still among the top teams in the East after this loss, they are now at 9-4 and look to overcome in their next game versus the Chicago Bulls.
