Pierce Scores 2 of his 57
Boston, Oct. 14th (Ticker) - Pierce scores a career high 57 points in tonights preason game against Toronto. Marcus Banks also tore the Raptors with 40 points of his own and combined with Pierce to score 107 of Beantown's 142 points.
It was a night where Boston seemed to dominate. It seemed that they were everywhere on the court, knocking away loose balls, and Toronto just seemed incapable to slow down their ferocious offense. But in fact, it was only Pierce and Banks that was doing all the scoring, and that was more than enough to guarentee the win for Beantown.
The Boston Celtics in fact didn't play very good defense, allowing the Raptors to shoot 62.9% from the field, but their offensive rebounding that allowed them to dictate the offense. Pierce was pretty much unstoppable on offense, scoring 24 points in the first half and 33 in the second half. He scored in everyway possible, driving to the rim with behind the back layups, hitting the midrange and long range bombs and ofcourse, scoring at the foul line, where he was 4 of 6.
New Raptor Mike played extremely well, with 13 points and 15 assists, but let his man (Banks) score on him because he was often caught on switches and Banks just blew right by them and went in for the shot, or shot the three. Bosh, continuing where he left off last game against the Jazz, put up 33 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks, but was not enough to carry the team to a W in Beantown.
After the game, Coach Mitchell addressed the media, saying "We need to work on our defense obviously. Our offense is fine and extremely well in fact, but tonight, alot of our guys were confused on defense, and plus, Paul just dominated us with 57. That was just a great game offensively for Paul". Mitchell also praised his new Raptor Mike James " I thought Mike played beautifully on offense and getting the right people the ball, but he got caught on switches and really couldn't play full on defense on banks. We're going to have to adjust a little bit for our next game back home."
With this loss, Toronto is now 1-1 in the preseason.
Toronto will play host to the New Jersey Nets on Oct. 19th

*I'm still adjusting the sliders and against Jersey, I'll play superstar. I know the scores are still unrealistic. I'm still adjusting the sliders, so bear with me.
**Also, I think I should play 8 or 10 min quarters instead of 12
***For the next game, I think I shud switch Joey Graham to Highflyer and Outside Stopper. Any comments on this decision?
