Marquis Daniels will definitely bounce back next game, so I still think that was a solid trade.

It's a 28 game season, so I don't think I'll be facing them again until next year or in the playoffs.
Ouch. Lenerd came bach at you! Good luck next game!
Tough loss...Lenard came back to haunt you ....great pics...good luck next game
Yeah it sucks that he kicked my ass. I have to play tight d with my guards more often.
Obviously, you shouldn't have made him mad.
Hah, yeah, I guess I guess I never really let him the trade sink in since the game was right after I made the trade.

I think he'll bounce back quite nicely......

Cleveland Cavaliers (6-5) vs Denver Nuggets (5-3)
Starting Lineups
Daniels Outshines the Carmelo and LeBron Matchup (95-82 Nuggets*)
Nuggets Boxscore
Cavaliers Boxscore
With the major hype surrounding the LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony matchup, Marquis Daniels decided that he should also make himself noticed. James and Anthony were both selected first and third overall in the 2003 draft, and there have been constant comparisons in their rookie years. Daniels was also in the 2003 draft, but he went undrafted and made a huge imapct with the Mavericks later that season to earn him a spot in the 2nd All-Rookie Team. Marquis had a season-high 23 points on 9 of 13 shooting and outplayed both Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James. Kenyon Martin also had a strong 18 point 7 rebound game. Anthony struggled horribly this game, sinking only 5 of 22 shots.
LeBron James led his team in scoring with 24 points, but Jeff McInnis was the one who scored 16 points and was one rebound and assist shy of a triple double. Drew Goooden also had 15 points on 7 of 8 shooting and did all of the dirty work with a season high 16 rebounds. 7'0 Lithuanian center Zydrunas Ilgauskas struggled mightily, scoring only 2 points and grabbed only 3 rebounds.
Both teams came out of the gate struggling to hit their field goals. In the first quarter Cleveland shot 33% and 30% of Denver's attempts went in. Carmelo Anthony was 0 of 5 from the field while LeBron was 4 of 4. A 9-2 energized the Nuggets and the Nuggets were ahead 25-17 in the second quarter. McInnis had ten points in this quarter, but the Cavs still trailed 45-38 by halftime. Daniels had 12 points heading into the second half.
Cleveland took a 62-60 lead near the end of the third quarter, and they outscored Denver 28-19 thanks to their hot shooting (65%). Denver immediately reclaimed a 69-68 lead with 5 straight points from Marquis Daniels in the start of the fourth quarter. Two consecutive Eric Snow baskets managed give the Cavaliers the lead again, but the game was tied at 78 apiece soon afterwards. Denver tried something risky by putting Andre Miller and Earl Boykins on at the same time, but the Nuggets soon had a 17-2 run sparked by the point guard duo. 12 of the 17 points from the large Dener run came from free throws by Miller and Boykins, and the score was soon put out of reach after a few more free throws were made by Anthony and Daniels. LeBron was held scoreless in the fourth quarter and Cleveland struggled heavily by this, shooting only 34% and were outscored 31 to 16.
"I struggled in my first game and we lost, so I needed this one pretty badly to redeem myself," said Daniels. "Coach put me in point guard at times and I thought I played my best when I was running the offence, but all of the credit go to Andre and Earl for stepping it up in crunch time."

The much hyped Carmelo and LeBron match up wasn't as good as expected.

Earl Boykins got 5 boards

WTF... anyway, good game and good luck in the season

You must be pleased with your trade now, great performance by Daniels!
And yeah, Boykins can grab a couple of boards because he's lightning quick. He can get to those shots that fall further.
Anyway a nice win with my former team against my new team [hint]!
Ira Newble is white??

Heh, thanks. And judging by your name, I'm guessing Daniels is probably the only reason you're interested eh?

Yeah, he is usually fast enough to contest a shot and quickly run back to get the board. It can be quite frustrating to play as him though, I get blocked probably 8 billion times a game thanks to him or he's usually not strong enough to finish a play with contact.

You can see that I've finally learned how to "play" with Daniels. lol, I don't think Ira Newble is white, but I remember someone's dynasty (I think Ruff Ryder), would always make fun of him and call him a wigger.
A dynasty with the Cavs sounds like a pretty good idea by the way.

Denver Nuggets (6-3) vs Golden State Warriors (4-3)
Starting Lineups
34 Points by Davis Can't Defeat Denver (115-79 Nuggets*)
Nuggets Boxscore
Warriors Boxscore
Denver's frontcourt of Marcus Camby, Kenyon Martin and Carmelo Anthony sure gave Golden State plenty of nightmares. The Nuggets easily used their tight defence to start their running game and finished the game with 24 fast break points. Anthony bounced back from his attrocious game in Cleveland to deliver a solid overall game of 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Marcus Camby also scored a season high 19 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Kenyon Martin also had 17 points and was one rebound shy of a double-double as the Nuggets outscored the Warriors in every quarter and scored over a 100 points for the first time this season.
"We really came out with our guns blazing," said Marquis Daniels, who hit 6 of 9 field goals for 12 points. "We really got under their skin in the first quarter, and they never really fought back ever since. It's always nice to have a few games like these after some tight wins or losses."
Golden State had never shot over 40% until the fourth quarter and was absolutely dominated on both ends of the court. Baron Davis did all the offesive work with 34 points, and Mikael Pietrus was the only other Warrior to score in double figures with 14 points. Future stars Jason Richardson and Troy Murphy were both held to 8 points and 6 rebounds, and shot only a combined 6 of 27 from the field. Recent western conference rookie of the month Andris Biedrins was absolutely demolished by Camby, and only had 2 points, but he had a game high 15 rebounds.
"These are the games where you just want to get out of your head," said Jason Richardson. "I couldn't score, Murphy and Dunleavy couldn't score, the only person that had a good night was Baron (Davis), but if the other four players on the court can't score, then it's very easy to lose the game."
7 straight points by Marcus Camby in a 13-2 run by the Nuggets in beginning of the first quarter was just a sign of what was to come. Golden State was outscored 27-16 and shot 28% from the field. The second quarter continued in the same way, with the Nuggets pulling away and the Warriors were struggling to hit their shots. Golden State was yet again outscored 31-18 and Camby had 15 points by halftime.
The Nugget's biggest lead was 88-53 after the third quarter. The trend continued during the opening quarter of the second half when they were yet again outscored 30-19. Denver had already hit the 100 point mark in the fourth quarter with 4 minutes remaining in the game and three Dermarr Johnson freethrows after being fouled from beyond the arc sealed the game in a dominating fashion.
In Game Pictures
A triple team on Camby? Marcus would easily plow through Golden State's defence looking like Shaq.
Newly acquired free agent Keon Clark was demanding the ball to prove his worth.
Daniels' smooth mid-range game was hard to stop.
Davis scored his points off of penatration and points in the paint.
Dunleavy scored all 6 of his points in garbage time.
Jason Richardson uses some hangtime to throw up a wild shot against the defence.
Kenyon Martin made Troy Murphy live up to the name of "tall white stiffs".
Smush Parker played his first game and made all 3 of his field goal attempts.
Mikael Pietrus drives the lane.

Denver's 5 game Report Card
5 Game Recap
Overall Record: 7-3
Teams played: Bucks(W), Wizards(W), Mavericks(L), Cavaliers (W), Warriors (W)
Overall Grade: A-
For the most part, Denver finished most of their games with a dominating fashion. They've won 3 games with a margin larger than 10 points (Bucks, Cavaliers and Warriors), but their single loss that came at the hands at the Dallas Mavericks was a huge let down (a 100-86 defeat). Denver had also made their first trade this season with the Dallas Mavericks, sending veteran shooter Voshon Lenard and defensive role player Greg Buckner to Dallas for versatile guard Marquis Daniels and the 7'0 project Didier Ilunga-Mbenga.
The Nuggets played fantastic basketball in the final quarter against the Milwaukee Bucks. They managed to hold the Bucks to only 19% shooting, and outscored the Bucks 19-10. Desmond Mason absolutely torched the Nuggets though, as he had a game high 34 points, even though he did not score at all in the fourth quarter. Nene and Marcus Camby each had 10 points and 10 rebounds to get their first double-double of the season.
Voshon Lenard, Andre Miller and Marcus Camby each had an off-night and only scored 9 points in total against the Wizards, but the Nuggets bench of Nene, Earl Boykins and Dermarr Johnson easily picked up the slack for the starters. Nene had his second straight game in scoring in double figures while Dermarr Johnson provided a lovely 15 point, 4 rebound and 3 assist night. Earl Boykins also finished with 13 points and 4 assists to help ease Andre Miller's scoring woes. Kenyon Martin played a big part in the win, scoring 5 straight baskets in the fourth quarter to help squeak by the Wizards.
Days after the Daniels-Lenard trade, the Denver Nuggets went to visit Dallas soon afterwards. Voshon Lenard torched his former team with 23 points in an embarassing blow out defeat. New comer Marquis Daniels scored only 8 points, while Michael Finely looked like he was 25, scoring 23 points and grabbing 6 boards.
Denver managed to bounce back from a disappointing loss to Dallas as the Nuggets beat the Cleveland Cavaliers next game. The hyped Carmelo-LeBron rivalry did not live up to expectations, as Anthony made only 5 of his 22 shot attempts. LeBron however, did lead his team with 24 points, but that was easily forgotten as Marquis Daniels scored 23 points and shook off his disappointing debut. Earl Boykins and Andre Miller rarely played on the court at the same time, but they proved to be an effective duo as they helped propel the Nuggets to a 17-2 run to outscore the Cavs 31 to 16 in the fourth quarter.
Domination was the only word to describe the Nugget's huge win over the Golden State Warriors. Denver easily gained control in the first quarter and they never let up their relentless transition game throughout all four quarters. Marcus Camby scored a season high 19 points and Carmelo Anthony led the Nuggets with 22 points. Baron Davis had a game high 34 points, and was the only player to shoot over 40% for the Warriors.
The Players' Grades
Marcus Camby: B- Camby's overall performance has improved slightly. He came off a recent 19 point 10 rebound game and now averages 9.3 points per game and 9.5 rebounds per game, but he hasn't been blocking shots consistently like he should.
Kenyon Martin: B- Martin's points per game has gone up and is looking like a more capable offensive threat. His blocking, shooting and rebounding numbers have gone slightly downhill though.
Carmelo Anthony: C Almost every statiscal category has gone down, including his exellent shooting percentages. Melo's terrible game in Cleveland is mainly held responsible, but sometimes Anthony needs to stop forcing up shots and take his time with his offence.
Marquis Daniels: B+ His statistics don't do him any justice because he's only been in a Denver uniform for 3 games. Other than his sluggish start, Daniels was looking heaps better. His mid-range game has gotten pretty smooth and his size allows him to overpower many smaller guards.
Andre Miller: B- There was basically no change in Miller's stats, but he did have a huge drop off in three point percentage. It's not as bad as it sounds though, since Miller is really regarded as a three point threat anyway.
Nene: C+ He played really well in his first two games, notching two ten point games including a double-double in his first game. Nene's offensive game wasn't really strong or he did not really make a noticeable impact in the other three games, but for the most part Nene's field goal percentage went from ice cold to a blazing 54% and his rebounding numbers have stayed solid for a guy off the bench.
Earl Boykins: B He had two pretty good against Washington and Cleveland, and a decent one in Golden State, but as the same as last time, his assist numbers still needs some work. Boykins has never had over 6 assists in a game this season.
Dermarr Johnson: C+ Johnson has been moved to the bench for his inconsistency, but the on and off problem is still a concern. He had another decent night scoring 15 points against Washington, but for the most part he has disapeared and after aquiring Marquis Daniels, it looks like the Nuggets have their shooting guard spot set.
Wesley Person: D After trading away Lenard, you'd think that Person would get some more minutes, but Person's shot is plain awful right now and Daniels and Johnson are impressing the coach a lot more with their youthful athleticism.
Smush Parker: B He only played 7 minutes for one game, but he played quite well out there. Parker scored 6 points and handed out 2 assists, but his decision making on the court was exceptionally smooth and he effectively took a lot of players off the dribble on offence.
Question Marks: Eduardo Najera, Luis Flores, Francisco Elson, Didier Ilunga-Mbenga, Bryon Russell.

Boston Celtics (4-4) vs Denver Nuggets (7-3)
Starting 5
Payton's Triple Double Not Enough Against Denver (106-86 Nuggets*)
Nuggets Boxscore
Celtics Boxscore
Despite Gary Payton's all-around monster game against the Nuggets, Denver managed to pull together through teamwork and eventually dominated the Celtics. Denver's bench played a major factor, as the Nugget's bench outsored Boston's bench 36-16. Carmelo Anthony once again led the Nuggets with 22 points on 11 of 22 shooting. Kenyon Martin and Marcus Camby absolutely pummelled Boston on the glass. Camby had 19 boards and Martin had 15 and both of them scored 12 and 16 points respectively. Wesley Person also helped immensely by scoring 14 points off the bench; his season-high. This was the Nugget's second consecutive win where they beat their opponents by 20 points or more.
The Celtics continued to struggle this season and shot a combined 36% from the field. Gary Payton recorded his first triple double this season with 19 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists, but shot only 7 of 21 from the field. Paul Pierce also led the struggling Celtics with 27 points. Second leading scorer Antoine Walker was also a big non-factor and was no where to be found this game, scoring only 10 points.
"We're playing like a team and we're accepting each other's roles," said point guard Andre Miller, who was one point shy of a double-double. "Everyone has really picked it up after that loss to Dallas and I think we're really establishing ourselves as a great team."
The Nuggets started off shooting only 42%, but their offensive rebounding kept their game alive. The Nuggets already had 7 offensive rebounds (six from Camby) after the first quarter. The trend continued on into the second quarter and Denver had outrebounded Boston 31-20 during halftime which resulted in a commanding 56-41 lead.
An 8-2 run by the Celtics immediately cut the Denver lead back to single digits, and although both teams shot under 40%, Boston managed to make 7/7 free throws to outscore the Nuggets 23-16. Denver started to look like they were heading into the fourth quarter on a near collpase, but the Nuggets made their first 8 field goals to spark an 11-0 run. Paul Pierce was a one man show and responded by scoring 12 points in this quarter, but his team was heavily out gunned by the Nuggets.
In Game Pictures
Paul Pierce looks to kick the ball out to the open man after running into a bunch of Denver players.
Dermarr Johnson watches as his buzzer-beating half court shot hits nothing but net.
Gary Payton's three blocks all came from swatting the ball away from the tiny Earl Boykins.
Marcus Camby abused the Celtics inside.
Payton throws up the floater in the lane.
Mark Blount throws down the putback slam.
Carmelo Anthony really elevated his game.
Paul Pierce with the double clutch slam on the fast break.
Wesley Person shows that he still has some game left in him.

Damn, you have such a tight rotation you shuold try to get one of those bigs in some games to spell Camby. Marquis Daniels again, good job.
