Whats up Jae?
Any updates coming soon ?
Tue Feb 22, 2005 11:39 pm
Lol funny you mention that... I was looking for the thread so I could post an update but I couldn't find it because it'd been replied to and was further up the page
Tonight, before 3am at some time, I'll do the rest of the player profiles... they'll be short and wont have any graphics, but once I get that done I can get the season started.
I'm still trying to think of some really original idea's I can use to make this Dynasty more unique, it's easier said than done lol but I'll do what I can.

well how abt instead of moving your team to another city in America or Canada....u move it to Adelaide
Theirs plenty of patchers out there who would make u custom jerseys n art......just as long as u give them a basic idea of what u need...
anyway if u want some uniqueness I thought thats an ok idea.

I'm not moving the team at all lol... and it's on Xbox too, so I can't install patches

BEN CHIN
Age: 25
Height: 7'3"
Weight: 301lbs
College: Pyongyang, Korea
Position: Center
Was selected by Atlanta after impressing during the Asian Zone Olympic qualifiers where he averaged a tournament-best 13.2 rebounds per game. Starts his NBA career quite late and is the oldest player in the team, not to mention the oldest rookie in the league. Has never had much attention thrust upon him as far as basketball goes, his career as a junior weightlifter was his main sporting outlet until he just grew too tall to compete. In a strange twist, the attributes Ben Chin posseses are exactly what another famous Asian lacks. Chin's immense strength and toughness in the lane is what Yao Ming most obviously needs, while Chin's complete lack of shooting ability and horrible passing is what Yao is enriched. His Atlanta career could have problems before it even starts, as immigration issues are arising and could prevent him from playing much of the season. Has shown alot of promise in the pre-season and could find his way onto the bench if political dilemma's go his way.
GRANT SKINNER
Age: 23
Height: 6'10"
Weight: 257lbs
College: Alabama
Position: Center
Grant Skinner arrived late on the team, having not been considered for draft selection at all and spending most of his summer trying to get contacts with overseas agents in an attempt to further his career abroad. His college career at Alabama was successful enough, he was seen as a solid bench player and an "all round good guy" but got most of his praise for his spectacular dunks during warm ups. Already has an aquaintance on the team, in the form of former rival Alabama, Birm player Ridley Tyrell. Grant impressed the Hawks coaching staff with his fantastic lane running, and a strong desire to improve his play which was made very evident when on the advice of coaches he switched from Power Forward to Center in an attempt to take advantage of his good rebounding instincts. Could play a key part coming off the bench for the Hawks, is seen as a typical spark-plug type. Which after all, isn't all that bad for a guy who only weeks ago was considering a career working at a pharmacy because he couldn't get a break.
HENRY ROGERS
Age: 21
Height: 6'9"
Weight: 202lbs
College: Arizona
Position: Power Forward
Henry Rogers was actually not originally spotted by the Hawks scouting staff. It was on the advice of a former college teammate in Dean Ollie that Rogers was invited to try out for the team. He intiially missed the cut after showing up and attempting to play as an outside shooting small forward. Having been in that position for his entire college career, no coach took the initiative to think that maybe the reason he was glued to the end of the bench was that he was simply playing out of position. Returning for the second stage of try outs, Henry Rogers was a completely different player. He was blocking shots, grabbing rebounds, and in one jaw dropping play threw down a 360 windmill alley oop from a missed free throw. Deciding to take advantage of his un-Godly vertical leap and dunking instincts, Rogers was signed to a contract on the basis that he would play as a Power Forward. Another impact player off the bench, Rogers has finally found his niche and can now concentrate on being Henry Rogers, not Kyle Korver.
MAREK ZUKAUSKAS
Age: 18
Height: 7'0"
Weight: 253lbs
College: Riga, Latvia
Position: Small Forward
Marek Zukauskas can thank Darko Milicic for him not being drafted. Three years ago, he was considered a lock for the number one spot in all mock drafts. No one had ever seen a seven foot tall fifteen year old who could dribble like a guard and bang inside like a European Charles Oakley. The hype quickly died, after his complete lack of playing time in the Euro leagues mixed with the horrible play of fellow teenage Europeans put scouts off the younger players in favour of more experienced veterans who could step in and contribute straight away. Ignoring this, Marek declared for the draft anyway and was subsequently undrafted, until Atlanta came calling. Attending the first try out, Zukauskas showed the coaching staff that he had not lost anything since he was being seen as the next big thing. His inside/outside play mixed with his fantastic ball handling guaranteed him a spot on the team somewhere. Height, versatility and youth aren't a combination that you can find all that often but in Marek Zukauskas, Atlanta might have just found the diamond in the rough.
ZAN OUAKILI
Age: 19
Height: 6'7"
Weight: 200lbs
College: Ibadan, Nigeria
Position: Small Forward
What do you get when you cross a teenager from an African nation, with less than 6 months of basketballing experience with a human pogo stick who has a natural talent for getting above the rim, whether it be to rebound, block shots or dunk? You get Zan Ouakili, the most intriguing of all of Atlanta's new breed of talent. He was first spotted by a Hawks scout when he actually was a member of the host family for Ouakili's exchange student program which sent him to the USA. He took the youngster to a local court to show him what the game was about, and was astounded at the natural athletic ability he posessed. Showing an in-born instinct to grab rebounds and block shots, the scout nurtured his basketballing skills until he took him along to a Hawks trial, not to get him into the team but just to see what he could do against quality opposition. Ouakili was initially nervous, he'd never seen players as big or strong as he did at the trials but the nerves soon turnt to adrenaline when he managed to block a lay-up against the backboard half way up the board... with his elbow.
JUNICHI HUI
Age: 23
Height: 6'9"
Weight: 229lbs
College: Hong Kong, China
Position: Small Forward
He came to America billed as a defensive specialist. Seven workout offers came has way, and Junichi Hui wasted every single one of them. Not having any of the speed or athletisism to keep up with a different style of player that he's used to, Hui struggled to match-up and his only strength became his biggest weakness. Not discouraged by his less than flattering showing, Hui won a roster spot playing in the CBA. He noticed the speed of the players was somewhat less, and he found it much easier to shut down his man, which he did with great success. After averaging 5 steals per game in just over 13 minutes a game, he was invited to the first round of trials for the Atlanta Hawks. He wasn't overly impressive once again, although he did show some previously un-noticed rebounding skills and the signs were there that if he was nurtured properly and left to adapt to the American game, Hui could become a more sane, more dedicated version of Ron Artest. Or at least Michael Curry. His spot on the roster is uncertain, but one thing for sure is that if Hui can get his act together he'll be something special.
EPHRAIM MATTRICK
Age: 20
Height: 6'7"
Weight: 224lbs
College: LSU
Position: Shooting Guard
On his first day trialling for the Hawks, Mattrick was described as a white, more sensible Ridley Tyrell... with a less pronounceable name. Coming out of LSU early where he had spent most of his time sitting on the bench wasn't the wisest decision initially, but for Mattrick it would eventually pay off big. No one had ever doubted the individual skills of Mattrick, and even though his 5 minutes per game was nothing to crow about his ball handling and turnaround jump shot was something worth getting excited about. At times he could look like Michael Jordan, backing his opponent in and hitting an impossible fadeaway jump shot. At other times he could look like Oliver Miller, sitting around and not doing much at all. Finding his way onto the Hawks roster was easier than he had intiially thought. Given an opportunity to shine, Mattrick took it with both hands and impressed the coaches with his unheralded composure and ability to almost score at will. Mattrick wasn't phased when given a bench role backing up potential star Ridley Tyrell, but minus another Miller-attack Mattrick won't be sitting back and letting Tyrell take all of the plaudits either.
DONYELL SPENCER
Age: 23
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 208lbs
College: South Alabama
Position: Shooting Guard
Donyell Spencer is the personification of the word "tweener". He exemplifies every reason why players draft stock plummets due to the fact that they're either not tall enough, or not skilled enough to play their actual position. Spending his college career at shooting guard, Spencer was a solid 13 points per game player and by his home fans, viewed as a certain first round pick. This wasn't echo'd by the NBA however, seeing that he could've run an offense and wasn't athletic enough to play neither PG or SG professionally, they made a decision not to draft Spencer and left him out in the cold with no idea of what to do next. After dedicating his life to basketball, Spencer was thrown a life-line when the Atlanta Hawks personally contacted him to trial for the team. The NBA scouts were right about Spencer in a sense, he couldn't run an offense and isn't the most athletic player, but his good shooting and ability to run the floor makes him a good compliment for a more "classical" point guard. Which is exactly what the Atlanta Hawks wanted.
FIDEL GIBB
Age: 24
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 186lbs
College: Wake Forest
Position: Point Guard
Recognized as the fastest player in college basketball during his senior year, unfortunately for Fidel Gibb however, he wasn't recognized as anything else. A state track champion and national finalist, Gibb could fly up the court with ease, blowing past defenders and making his way straight to the basket. That's when problems would occur. Gibb's strangely small hands meant shooting the basketball had always been a problem for him. Not to mention the fact that at 5'10 you have to be able to either jump, or shoot the lights out to make any sort of impact in basketball. Spending most of his time either on the bench or running laps of the school football field, Gibb graduated from Wake Forest with a degree in Arts. After realizing basketball wasn't going to be his career path, he then discovered that Arts doesn't exactly provide the best platform for a career either. As a last ditch effort, Gibb showed up un-announced to the Hawks trials. Brimming with false confidence, he proceded to push the ball up the floor like the Flash, while making simple passes which made his whole game come together. Gibb is still very sporadic and unpredictable, but he's proved that if you pick an Arts degree, don't panic. The NBA is always there.
DAMIAN PINE
Age: 22
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 199lbs
College: Virginia Union
Position: Point Guard
What most people don't know about Damian Pine's experience at the Hawks trials, is that he nearly played Rafer Dalton out of a starting spot. Despite coming to Atlanta as a virtual basketball unknown, Damian Pine proved to be a classical 'old school' style player... even down to his short-shorts. He mean clean, smart passes and used the pick and roll like a seasoned veteran. The one thing he lacked that Dalton had in abundance, is a natural killer instinct to be able to completely single handedly kill off another teams chances. Pine played very little at college, seen by his coach as someone who stood for the exact opposite of his style of play, he was blacklisted and struggled to get any time on the court. This made Damian Pine even more determined, however, and he spent his free time at a local gym working on his game and trying to improve the fundamentals that had been so successful for point guards of the past. Solidifying his position as a back-up to Rafer Dalton, it's good to know that if anything should happen to him then Pine would easily fill that void.

I'm surprised a North Korean got into the NBA with no tribulations from the government.
EDIT: Also, Chin's not really a Korean last name, maybe Jin or Choi
Wed Feb 23, 2005 4:20 pm
The last names are a bit dodgy, I wanted to call him Hong No cause I heard it on TV and thought it was cool, but that's what it said on the game. Although during the season he did get cut and re-signed again, so I'll claim that to be government related
Thu Feb 24, 2005 6:57 am
Great work again, Jae really looking forward to the start of the season!

THE DEVIL WENT DOWN TO GEORGIA...
There was a time where a road trip to Atlanta wasn't overly welcomed by opposing teams. Of course those times are long gone, and that road trip is now seen as an opportunity for the players to chalk up one in the "wins" column and think about the possibilities of going 82-0 this season. Admittedly those possibilities are destroyed when they play a team with half of an idea about the sport of basketball, but in recent history that team definitely has not been the Atlanta Hawks. Would things change this season? A new coach, a new GM and an entirely new playing roster has seen last years pathetic 4-25 Hawks transformed into the most youthful, and possibly vulnerable, team in the NBA. No one is quite sure what to expect from this team of nobodies, if the pre-season tournament was anything to go by it's more likely that the Hawks will focus more on individual goals as opposed to team oriented ones. The Hawks convincingly lost all of their pre-season games, but were pleased by the stats put up by the likes of former Wildcats big man Dean Ollie and Siena guard Rafer Dalton.
On the other end of the scale, the New Orleans Hornets weren't overly impressive in their last season either. Struggling to a new low point of 8-21, the Hornets only saving grace was the drafting of one of the players rumoured to be the "next big thing" in Obasi Nyarko. Often compraed to Kevin Garnett, Nyarko brings size, athletisism and un-matched defensive skills to a Hornets team that was entirely devout of any of the above. Baron Davis leads from the front as he did last season, amidst trade rumours and training bust ups Baron has stated this could potentially be his last season in New Orleans. The prospect of drafting Nyarko meant that New Orleans ignored their most obvious weakness at the point guard position. In an effort to please Davis, he was shifted to shooting guard which meant that the only suitable player on the New Orleans roster was Shammond Williams, not exactly NBA starter material. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen whether the arrival of the prodigious Nyarko can provide the spark that New Orleans will need if they are to avoid another horrific season.
