Thunder, Lakers To Meet In West Finals

Kobe Bryant is just eight wins away from winning his sixth NBA title. His teammates worked hard to make sure he had the chance to get to the next round. The Los Angeles Lakers survived a more athletic outfit in the Denver Nuggets over a gruelling seven game series. The Lakers did not actually clinch the series until Bryant delivered a 12 point fourth quarter in Game 7 against the Nuggets.
“His will to win is incredible,” Steve Nash spoke of his teammate, “This is why he could equal Michael (Jordan).” Coach Mike Brown praised Kobe’s focus, “We all know that he is the best closer in the game. Still is and I don’t think he will stop being that until the day he retires.”
The Lakers will face the Oklahoma City Thunder who saw off the Los Angeles Clippers in an easy 4-game sweep. The Thunder have had a week of rest waiting for the Lakers and Nuggets to battle it out. Coach Scott Brooks is please with that, “We are going to run them into the ground. It didn’t matter who came out of that series. We are well rested and should go into this series on top.”Get Ready For Battle of the Borough!

The Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks have set up an improbable Eastern Conference Finals match up after they both disposed of their second round opponents in six games. The Nets beat the Bucks and the Knicks saw off the Bulls.
The matchup will pit on-fire and motivated Carmelo Anthony against the unsettled Deron Williams. Anthony has been booed at the away venues of the Knicks’ first and second round series because he recently voiced, “I am the real MVP. I’m the scoring champion and I’m leading a 7 seed to the NBA Finals. It’s sad that only LeBron and Kevin get a look and I don’t.”
Carmelo’s Team USA teammate Williams received a lot of criticism throughout the season for his shape. Although he had played a strong campaign, Williams felt that his All-Star Game snub in February was due to the poor press. “I think you all need to give me a break,” he said after Game 5 after missing a potential series winning shot, “You (the press) are the reason why people think I’m fat and shit.”
The Nets are overwhelming favourites to advance to the NBA Finals.Liam Washburn Looking To Make Splash

Liam ‘L-Train’ Washburn led the University of Washington Huskies to a NIT championship and won the MVP award for the event. That was enough to satisfy him that he was ready to join the NBA. The freshman averaged 14.2 PPG on .433 3PT% and led the Huskies to a 20 win season.
“I don’t think we would have done as well without me this season. I don’t think we will do any better either. I’m wasting my time in college. I would have jumped to the pros if I could have after high school,” the popular shooting guard said.
L-Train might be hedging his bets as NBA scouts have assessed him as being ‘too one dimensional’ and ‘just a shooter’. There have been concerns about his lack of athleticism and leadership. However, L-Train is confident to impress scouts.
“I believe that I can be more than just a shooter,” he says, “But if that is my fate then I will take it. L-Train just wants to get paid.”
L-Train is projected to be selected in the late first round and early second round of the upcoming Draft.

DECLARING FOR THE DRAFTWHEN?
You may declare any time before the conclusion of the first round of the Playoffs. You may also withdraw any time before then as well.
I will also allow you to report your intention to declare at any time. This means that I will start writing articles about your player.
HOW?
Post in this thread that you:
- intend to declare, and/or
- will declare
Declaring your intention to join an upcoming Draft class will cost you 1 point.
It will then cost you 2-8 points to enter the draft.
If you withdraw your intention to declare for the Draft, you do not get your 1 point back.
A CHANCE TO EARN POINTS
Every article written by you and PM’ed to me that gets posted will earn points. Give your draftee a backstory and a chance to improve his stock as well.
WHY DECLARE SOONER OR LATER
If you declare sooner, it means your player will make it into the L earlier. However, you may not be as good as a prospect as if you wait and accumulate points. If you declare later, you can have control over whether your player is a first or second round prospect.
Do not be disheartened about being drafted in the second round. The pros are that you can have some choice over your free agency destination/s after just one season! It also makes for a more interesting story.
