DECLARING FOR THE DRAFTWHEN?
You may declare any time before the conclusion of the first round of the Playoffs. You may also withdraw any time before then as well.
I will also allow you to report your intention to declare at any time. This means that I will start writing articles about your player.
HOW?
Post in this thread that you:
- intend to declare, and/or
- will declare
Declaring your intention to join an upcoming Draft class will cost you 1 point.
It will then cost you 2-8 points to enter the draft.
If you withdraw your intention to declare for the Draft, you do not get your 1 point back.
A CHANCE TO EARN POINTS
Every article written by you and PM’ed to me that gets posted will earn points. Give your draftee a backstory and a chance to improve his stock as well.
WHY DECLARE SOONER OR LATER
If you declare sooner, it means your player will make it into the L earlier. However, you may not be as good as a prospect as if you wait and accumulate points. If you declare later, you can have control over whether your player is a first or second round prospect.
Do not be disheartened about being drafted in the second round. The pros are that you can have some choice over your free agency destination/s after just one season! It also makes for a more interesting story.

NBA Leading Scorer Melo Promises Title

Carmelo Anthony felt snubbed after receiving not even one first place vote in the recent polling for MVP. Kevin Durant is slated to receive the award in a few days and Melo is unhappy with it. It’s only given him motivation to lead his seventh seeded New York Knicks further into the postseason.
The Knicks upset number 2 seed Philadelphia in a 4-1 rout in a very surprising playoffs for Eastern Conference teams so far. Three of the series were won by lower seeds.
The number 8 seed Bucks shocked the defending NBA champion Heat by beating them 4-2. The number 6 seed Bulls pulled off a 4-1 win against the Wizards by using their experience in five tight games. The number 4 seed Nets were the only higher seed to prevail after a six game series against the Pacers.
The Knicks look capable of continuing their run though as they square off next against the Bulls in a highly anticipated match-up reminding ball watchers of the 1990s. The Nets will feel confident about meeting the giant-killer Bucks in the next round.Thunder, Lakers Advance

The number 1 seed Thunder and number 2 seed Lakers continue on a crash course to meet each other in the Western Conference Finals. The Thunder made easy work out of the Grizzlies and the Lakers took care of the Jazz. Both series lasted 5 games. The Nuggets also needed 5 games to dispose of the Wolves.
It was, however, the Clippers who impressed the most in the first round as they romped to a series sweep. Although, half of that was probably contributable to the fact that veteran Tim Duncan was injured early in the series in Game 1.
“Denver gave us problems last season,” Coach Mike Brown told the press after their Game 5 win in LA, “But we are ready for them to give their best shot again this year.” Kobe Bryant was also looking forward to the Lakers’ date with the Nuggets, “I can’t wait to get at them again in the postseason. It’s only going to be harder with Iggy (Andre Iguodala) out there for them.”
Kevin Durant, to be awarded the MVP award, knew that LA’s other team was going to be a challenge and even made a controversial statement ahead of the series. “I think they are LA’s better team,” Durant said.

Georgia Freshman Da’Vonte Headed For NBA Draft
15 May 2013

Georgia saw encouraging signs this season despite failing to make it out of the first round of the NCAA tourney two months ago. However, the inevitable was confirmed as Da’Vonte Hughes hired a pro agent in preparation for the 2013 NBA Draft. The laid back freshman has his eyes set on the big league and is projected to be selected late in the first round.
“I just decided it was the best time to go for me,” 6’4” Hughes stated after a recent workout with his trainer, “I need to do what’s right for my family. My goal has always been the NBA and I can’t wait.”
The 19 year old had a strong freshman season as he averaged 11.4 PPG and 1.8 SPG. He displayed his outstanding range throughout the season and proved to be very much defensively sound. “One of the better defensive guards in the country,” one rival player labelled him.Chris Hova Signs With Barcelona, Delays NBA Move

Barcelona has signed German Chris Hova to a 3 year contract. The heralded prospect formerly of Alba Berlin was being chased by NBA scouts after a strong London Olympics campaign.
Dallas Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki even invited Hova to practise with the Mavs following the Olympics. Hova was said to have impressed the coaching staff but everyone admitted that he was still a project. “We are definitely interested in Chris,” one Mavs member said, “He has a lot of potential. We will be keeping tabs on him.”
Sources indicate that the Mavs were considering offering him a contract but later retracted the offer to give him another year to prove himself as a pro. One year on, the Mavs’ interest has cooled down because of Hova’s inconsistency throughout the European season.
Hova was advised by scouts from all over the league to spend more time in the top flight Euroleague competition. Barcelona was more than happy to negotiate a deal with Hova to allow him exposure in Euroleague as well as the best league in Europe – the Spanish ABA.
“I am looking forward to the challenge. I think I do need a lot more training and preparation to even think about the NBA,” Hova stated at a press conference in Barcelona. His contract has an clause allowing him to exit his contract should he declare for the Draft.Malcolm Cole Declares Himself Best Player In Draft
17 May 2013

Sharp shooter Malcolm Cole is the self-proclaimed ‘best draft prospect’ in the upcoming NBA Draft.
The Kentucky freshman wasn’t shy when asked to compare himself to consensus All-American and College Player of the Year JJ Theus of UConn. “Sure JJ Theus is a great player,” Cole replied to the question, “But he is overrated. I carried my team this year. He had good teammates. Tell me if he can give you the kind of scoring game that I can give you?”
Cole wowed the nation in his one and only year in college basketball with his smooth jump shot as he ranked fifth in the nation in scoring and first amongst freshmen. “He was a great all-around player in college but that’s only because of the competition. He’s not going to be able to do it in the NBA. Whoever has the first pick needs to pick me first,” Cole announced.
