Thanks Diogo, good to see you around again. I hope you join as a rookie, you'd be the next Nene.

I know what you mean, I haven't been able to get anything done here as you can see due to school. Good to see you still support me though, hopefully I'll see you in the draft.

Yeah, I reall gave it a huge push near the end and got a great record. You'd be surprised to see how I finished in the standings. Of course you can join, I'll have the info coming up!

Sixers Big Winners, T-Mac Takes Main Prize

All the individual player award winners of the Regular season were announced by the NBA and a couple members of the Philadelphia 76ers were rewarded. These are the individual player award winners for the season:

MVP: Tracy McGrady- Houston Rockets

Not much surprise here, Tracy McGrady's spectacular season with an impressive league leading 34 Points Per Game and guiding the Houston Rockets to take the final play-off spot in the West. It will be interesting to see how T-Mac leads his team against Sacramento in the first round.

Image

Defensive Player: Ben Wallace- Detroit Pistons

Big Ben has done it again, he's the big man in Detroit swatting shots and grabbing boards and giving it all he's got every night. Not a big surprise that Ben Wallace collects the hardware again this season for his defensive abilities that will guide the Pistons to success. His next challenge will be to shut down Shaq in the play-offs. Is he up to it? You bet.

Image

6th Man: Brevin Knight- Philadelphia 76ers

Philadelphia's own Brevin Knight was recognized for leading the league's surprise best bench this season with the 6th man award. The Sixers made a very smart move signing Knight in the beginning of the season hoping he would be a good backup for star Allen Iverson and he turned out to be great and now he wins the 6th man award. Knight will be a free agent this summer but you bet that he'll be coming back to the city of brotherly love and staying for years to come.

Image

Most Improved: Marc Jackson- Philadelphia 76ers

Another Sixer who gets credited and this time it's Marc Jackson. He lost the 6th man award to fellow teammate Brevin Knight but he was rewarded with the Most Improved Player award after along with Brevin Knight and Rodney Rogers leading the Sixers bench and guiding the team to success. Marc Jackson also led Philly's bench in scoring and gets credited with huge imporvements from his previous year.

Image

Rookie of the Year: Dwight Howard- Orlando Magic

Dwight Howard was a force in his first year with 16+ points per game and a high rebounding average. Howard beat out Sacramento's Emeka Okafor for the award. Although the Orlando Magic missed the play-offs this year, Howard along with Steve Francis and the rest of the Magic squad will be ready next season and Howard will be even bigger and better.

Not much of a surprise that Ben won defensive player of the year, I don't think i've ever seen anyone else win the award in my game  and congrats on Knight getting the Sixth man award and Marc Jackson wasn't able to get Sixth man but he got Most improved. Good luck in the playoffs but first we have to see the April recap. (Y)

Pretty good presentation on the players awards. Big Ben again winning the defensive player award, no surprise there. Kind of disappointed that AI did not get the MVP award but lets hope the Sixers can win a title in this season.

Marc Jackson was a surprise for me, Howard too. I was expecting too see Iverson as MVP, but T-Mac was deserving it. Again, I wish you good luck in the Playoffs and congratulations for winning these 2 awards.

All-NBA, Rookie Teams Announced

All-NBA Team

Image Image Image Image Image

C- Shaquille O'Neal- Miami Heat
F/C- Jermaine O'Neal- Indiana Pacers
F- Shawn Marion- Phoenix Suns
F/G- Tracy McGrady- Houston Rockets
G- Allen Iverson- Philadelphia 76ers

Not too much surprise when the All-NBA Teams were announced except the fact that Kobe Bryant who lost the MVP race to Tracy McGrady was left off and replaced by Suns forward Shawn Marion who made a bid at the Defensive Player Award which went to Detroit's Ben Wallace. Kobe Bryant single-handedly brought the Lakers to the Play-offs and was this year's biggest snub. But, some good names up there with Miami's Shaquille O'Neal who had one of the best seasons of his career with the Miami Heat. Jermaine O'Neal, who led the Pacers to a second place finish in the East. They lost the conference to the 76ers near the end but Jermaine was the big factor in the Pacers success this season. Shawn Marion, played well on both the offensive and defensive ends and was a surprise in this year's All-NBA Team but he certainly deserved it. Tracey McGrady was an easy choice having won MVP and led the league in scoring. And finally Philadelphia's Allen Iverson was a sure pick after having lost the MVP race, he was among the league's to in scoring, assists and steals.

All-Rookie Team

Image Image Image Image Image

C/F- Nenad Krstic- New Jersey Nets
F/C- Dwight Howard- Orlando Magic
F/C- Emeka Okafor- Sacramento Kings
F/G- Luol Deng- Chicago Bulls
G- Ben Gordon- Chicago Bulls

Another big snub, this time on the Rookie Team and that was Andre Iguodala, he averaged more than 12 points a game with the Sixers and was always making high flying dunks which showed up on the highlight reels. But again there were players that did deserve it and we start with one of this season's surprise players, Nets' center Nenad Krstic. When the Nets had no option at center they turned to Krstic. This was a big oppertunity for him to take a big step in his career and he blew us all away. He averaged a double-double and was a good choice for the All-Rookie team. Dwight Howard of the Magic was an obvious choice after winning the rookie award. His team did not make the play-offs but Howard was still a big factor on the team. The year's biggest free agent signing was Sacramento's Emeka Okafor who lost the rookie of the year but was not left off the All-Rookie team. He averaged an impressive 14 points per game and 12 rebounds per game with the loaded Kings squad. It will be interesting to see if he returns to Sacramento for next year but now, he wants to win the NBA Championship and he's certainly on the right team. Luol Deng who finished 1-2 with teammate Ben Gordon in scoring for all rookies. He also averaged an impressive 7.7 rebounds per game. Ben Gordon led all rookies in scoring with 19 points per game but played on a struggling Bulls team who failed to come close to the Play-offs. The Bulls should be a much better team come next season.
