Owens/Walton Put Through Their Paces

Learning that they had the 25th pick in this weeks NBA Draft, Chicago picked two guys who were in the mock draft listed to be mid to late first rounders, Christian Walton from UCLA and Evan Owens from Marquette.

The 6'11 Walton was working against Mike Sweetney and used his strength on the offensive boards, but needs to work on his inside game to be a true threat.

Evan Owens is also projected as a round pick, but if he could slip to 25th then Chicago would have no hesitation in drafting him. He worked against Sean May and repeatedly had the upper hand on him in the block, he also needs to improve on his inside scoring and needs to touch up on his blocking.

Bulls Re-Sign Their Main Man

Today the Bulls announced the re-signing of their highest profiled player out of contract Tyson Chandler to a deal for a further 5 years. Terms of the deal have not surfaced yet but it has been said that the deal has been worth up to 41 million dollars. Chandler a vital cog in the Bulls line up was responsible for the teams climb up the ladder this year, leading the league in rebounds per game, he was also ranked 11th with nearly 2 blocks per game, also averaging 14.5 points per game on 45% field goal shooting.

In related news, Chicago have also resigned Chris Duhon for a further year for an estimated $3.3 million, the 23 year old was subject of scrutany through the play off series with having little affect, but with Hinrich recovering from injury, Duhon will be back as an effective roleplayer off the bench.

Kedrick Brown has accepted a 4 year 14 million dollar contract extension, not being a part of a franchise this time last year, Brown has expressed his gratitude and hopes to build on his good season

Chicago have kept on board Chris Taft for 1 more year, inking him for 620k, with Taft being signed this leaves Songaila, Harrington and Thomas in a weird situation as they wait to be offered a contract.

Tim Thomas has asked Chicago to be let go from his contract, the 29 year old met with Bulls officals today and thought that it was in his best interest to seek a new club where he cant use his skills for his full potential. Thomas was used sparingly this year, and had not seen him until the recent play off series against the Heat and Pacers, he will be a sought after free agent.
