Nice job going on a 5-game win streak, even though you had some luck from the sim engine. I still think you're letting the superstars score too often.

The Wolves runs down Clips in their turf

@ Clippers (117-113 W)

The guys in Minnesota are sure happy to see their team continue their on going win spree as they go back to the City of Angels and found their payback against the Clippers after their disappointing loss last month. The team was leaded by Wes Johnson and Kevin Love in both scoring and defense against the other LA team but they wasn't able to stop Baron Davis in gaining 47 points. It started with the Clippers on the high point of the first quarter with Baron Davis leading his pack and able to pass the Wolves defense and put the Clips to 11 point lead. The next quarter was then let Wes go back as he helped the team go for a 8-0 run and ended the first half with only trailing behind by 5 points. The Wolves then came up strong at the second half and turned lucky as their opponents made some unimpressive baskets. By the end, the Clips able to get close but failed to reach the Wolves.

Team Leaders:
Points: Wesley Johnson - 31 points / Kevin Love - 25 points, Baron Davis - 47 points
Rebounds: Wesley Johnson - 5 rebounds, Blake Griffin - 8 rebounds
Assists: Allen Iverson - 5 assists, Baron Davis - 9 assists

Big Al receives a big welcome beating from Wolves

vs. Jazz (104 - 105 W)

The Wolves returned to Minnesota with all smiles as they are now on a 7 game win streak but there is one man who is as happy as the pack and that was none other than Al Jefferson who returned from his former team with the Jazz. Big Al just put on a show for his Minnesota fans as he contributed 30 points and 9 rebounds for the Jazz but all his effort was lost as his former team beat them in the final minutes after AI scores one shot inside the court. "It was a great game indeed, sad to see we lost but I was all impressed to how the Wolves changed since I got traded." Al Jefferson said after the game.

Team Leaders:
Points: Allen Iverson - 30 points, Al Jefferson - 30 points
Rebounds: Kevin Love - 5 rebounds, Al Jefferson - 9 rebounds
Assists: Kevin Love - 5 assists, Deron Williams - 8 assists

Image

Cavs ended the Wolves' 8 win game streak

@ Cavaliers (107 - 113 L)

The Wolves just had maybe their longest straight wins after beating the Jazz in their home but it just turned bad after facing the Cavs in their home court. The Cavs was leaded by their rookie Christian Eyenga and made one of his best performance in his first season, putting big numbers for his team while Wes Johnson and Allen Iverson teamed up maybe for the very first time and try to put their team up but then bad luck comes at the 4th as they missed every shots they made.

Team Leaders:
Points: Wesley Johnson - 30 points, Christian Eyenga - 31 points
Rebounds: Kevin Love / Wesley Johnson - 5 rebounds, Antawn Jamison - 11 rebounds / Anderson Varejao - 9 rebounds
Assists: Kevin Love - 6 assists, Christian Eyenga - 7 assists

Image

Wolves returned home with a big win against the Hornets

vs. Hornets (89 - 104 W)

Though they taste another loss from Cleveland, they never put themselves down as they beat the Hornets when they returned to Target Center. The Wolves not just get their another win but they also beat Chris Paul's Hornets with a rare double digit lead. They better thank the Hornets lack luster performance during the last quarter that let them go on a big 14 - 2 run.

Team Leaders:
Points: Allen Iverson - 20 points, David West - 22 points
Rebounds: Grant Hill / Jonny Flynn / Spencer Haws - 6 rebounds, Trevor Ariza / Peja Stojakovic - 7 rebounds
Assists: Kevin Love / Allen Iverson / Grant Hill - 4 assists, Marcus Thornton - 5 assists

Image

Denver dishes out Minnesota

vs. Denver (111-92 L)

The Nuggets have one aim during their game against the Wolves and that is to prove that their early loss from them was just one luck. Could this be true as the Wolves crashes down from the hands of Melo and JR Smith. Darko showed some tough defense in this game but this never let the Nuggets find hard in putting some good scores. "It seems it just rumors that Melo is planning to leave Denver, he just did a hell of a performance in this game that gives us more attention on our defenses when we face him again." Kurt Rambis said during a locker room chat.

Team Leaders:
Points: Allen Iverson - 23 points, Carmelo Anthony - 24 points / Chauncey Billups - 22 points
Rebounds: Darko Milicic - 7 rebounds, Kenyon Martin - 13 rebounds
Assists: Allen Iverson - 5 assists, JR Smith - 5 assists

Experienced beats down Talent

The Wolves are slowly getting up the ranks all thanks to their good line up where both veterans and young guys are having some impressive performance that put both David Khan and Kurt Rambis all smiles in their. Wolves' head coach, Kurt finally got the right rotation and found out the teams potential to be the next dark horse of the league. Though lot of good news can be heard around this team, there are still some issues that is need to settle and one of those is their player chemistry. When it comes to team building they are still having some problems between their star rookie, Wesley Johnson and their all star guard, Allen Iverson who both had been on each others nerves since the start of the season. This gives coach Kurt an idea to put this two together by scheduling them to a 1 on 1 face off. It was a heated battle between the two as they put all their might just to beat their enemy inside the court. By the end, Allen Iverson is victorious with the final score of 8-11 thanks to a fake and fade away. "That is what you call experience!" Allen said after their game that made Wes all mad and decide to walk out of the court after the match. AI smirks and looks at Kurt Rambis who had been watching at the bleachers all the time very disappointed. How can this two cope up? Can the Wolves continue their momentum with this two don't coincide?

Meanwhile... Darko Milicic still tries to prove why Khan believes on him with his impressive defense performance...

Wolves unhappy for the New Year after a big loss to the Nets
vs. Nets - 109 -100 L
The Wolves promised on their New Year's Resolution that they will be present in this year's Playoffs but from the looks of it, they are struggling to get the eight seed with their start of the month. First, they experienced loss in the final seconds against the Nets. With Iverson leading the team with his 32 points, and 5 assists at the start, they are confident that they will bring home the win until a miss shot from their leader that slowly put the Wolves' momentum down and helped the Nets to do a run and end the game with a 9 point lead to beat the Wolves.

Team Leaders:
Points: Allen Iverson - 32 points, Devin Harris - 26 points
Rebounds: Jonny Flynn - 6 rebounds, Brooke Lopez - 8 rebounds
Assists: Grant Hill - 7 assists, Brooke Lopez - 10 assists

Image

Tough defense by Boston put the Wolves to sleep
@ Boston - 99 - 122 L

With or without Rondo, the Celtics are still strong with the presence of Kevin Garnett and Jermaine O'Neal inside the court with Ray Allen and a very silent Paul Pierce outside and Nate Robinson doing a good job at the point gives the Wolves a tough game all night. The start shows some hot shooting from the Wolves but then they taste foul trouble as they had a total of 6 fouls in just the first half. The Wolves didn't give up at the second half but then once again, they lost their composure at the final quarter that gave Boston a huge 14-2 run.

Team Leaders:
Points: Wesley Johnson - 31 points, Kevin Garnett - 26 points / Ray Allen - 27 points
Rebounds: Darko Milicic - 5 rebounds, Jermaine O'Neal - 11 rebounds
Assists: Allen Iverson - 9 assists, Nate Robinson - 10 assists

Wolves blasted down the Cats in their return Home
vs. Bobcats - 89 - 101 W
After two tough losses, the Wolves wanted to get a win when they got back home and face the Charlotte Bobcats. With Allen Iverson leading the team with a high 36 points, the team easily beat the Bobcats since from the start. Compared to their other games, the Wolves managed to keep their momentum until the end.

vs. Blazers - 107 - 100 L
The Wolves experienced another last minute loss to the Blazers after a big three point shot was made by Brandon Roy to spark the opposing team's momentum and gained themselves a good run at the last 2 minutes of the fourth quarter. The Wolves are on a hot shooting once again, including Darko Milicic who made his first three point shot of the season but this didn't gave the Wolves the win from Roy's blazing performance.

Team Leaders:
Points: Grant Hill - 33 points, Brandon Roy - 23 points
Rebounds: Wesley Johnson / Grant Hill / Kevin Love - 4 rebounds, Lamarcus Aldridge - 10 rebounds
Assists: Allen Iverson - 6 assists, Lamarcus Aldridge / Greg Oden - 4 assists

Wolves back to back against the Spurs

@Spurs - OT 130 - 133 L
vs. Spurs - 113 - 128 W

The Minnesota Timberwolves had a couple of big games against the San Antonio Spurs as they were headed to a Overtime loss at the first then followed by a great payback as they beat them with a 5 point lead in their home. The first game showed the Wolves some good performance when it comes to shooting that pressured the Spurs and put the game to a close fight until they reached the OT. By the end, the Wolves kept strong but luck suddenly came up after Manu Ginobili threw a three point shot at the final seconds to put the Spurs the win. The next game shows a very mad Kevin Love who only want is to beat the Spurs leaded the team and did a strong 8-0 run until the end of the game.

League shakes up with Trade Transactions

Image

Image

The new year opens with several roster shake ups from every team in the league that gives some hopes and somewhat controversies to the fans. There are three notable trades that has been buzzing around the NBA and one of the most notable one is the Philadelphia Sixers' decision of trading their 2010 second draft pick, Evan Turner to the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for the 2009 second draft pick, Hasheem Thabeet. It seems the Sixers are having some problem inside their locker room between Andre Iguodala and Evan Turner that decide them to send away a potential asset in Turner in exchange for the big guy Thabeet who have still needs to prove himself that he is going to be a bust. This transaction will put former Timberwolves' guard, Corey Brewer the starting shooting guard position. Other transaction made was between two former teammates, Brad Miller of the Houston Rockets and Mike Bibby from Atlanta. This only means the Rockets are planning to upgrade Yao Ming's playing time while the Hawks are putting their hopes in Jeff Teague. The other controversial transaction was when L.A. Laker's Juan Barea in exchange for Indiana Pacer's Dahntay Jones. Barea just moved to Lakers last month in exchange for Matt Barnes and now he will be helping Darren Collison in the rotation. Rumors say that the young point guard didn't managed to gel with his former team and have some argument with the Laker's head coach, Phil Jackson that made him put in the trading block. It was also noticed when he was thrown out of the starting line up and put Steve Blake instead.

Other Notable Trades:

Sasha Vujacic (LA Lakers) - Zaza Pachulia (Atlanta Hawks)
Ersan Ilyasova (Milwaukee Bucks) - CJ Watson (Chicago Bulls)
Bulls' 2011 1st draft pick - Acie Law (Memphis Grizzlies) - A bad move now that the Bulls are down the standings

None of those trades really make sense, other than the team chemistry issues. But hey, I guess there's the trade logic in Live.

Wolves beat the East Leader Wizards
vs. Wizards (94-104) W
The Washington Wizards may be leading the Eastern Conference standing beating the likes of Miami Heat and Boston Celtics but tonight they were beaten up by the Minnesota Timberwolves all thanks to their veterans, Allen Iverson and Grant Hill who worked through out the fourth quarter to earn their big win. The first quarter was just too bad for the Wizards after their star player Gilbert Arenas was put out of the game after a huge bump from Wesley Johnson. This gives John Wall the chance to lead the team and managed to put it through until the second half ends with them trailing behind with 7 points. The second half begins to pump up as the Wiz made a run at the start and able to narrow down the lead but they didn't able to stop the Wolves and they finish it through with a nice win.

Team Leaders:
Points: Grant Hill - 28 points / Allen Iverson - 26 points, John Wall - 37 points
Rebounds: Kevin Love - 7 rebounds, Andray Blatche - 10 rebounds / Javale Mcgee - 9 rebounds
Assists: Jonny Flynn - 9 assists, Josh Howard - 6 assists

Magic pulls one against the Wolves
vs. Magic (97-96) L

After putting up an impressive win from the Wizards, the Wolves just got a tough loss when they loss at the final seconds against the visiting Orlando Magic all thanks to Dwight Howard's game winning dunk. The Wolves shows some fatigue in this game as they made lots of missed shots since the start of the game that let the Magic pass through and able to go for a 10-0 run. The next half then let the Wolves try to get back in the game and able to tie the game after Grant Hill pulled a jump shot but then they still failed to win the game at the end.

Team Leaders:
Points: Allen Iverson - 20 points, Vince Carter - 27 points
Rebounds: Spencer Hawes - 7 rebounds, Dwight Howard - 15 rebounds / Rashad Lewis - 13 rebounds (too many failed shot attempts, that's why!)
Assists: Jonny Flynn/Kevin Love - 6 assists, Jameer Nelson - 4 assists

Image

Minnesota drops down by the hands of LA Clippers
@ Clippers (98-117) L

Once again the Wolves lose against the Los Angeles Clippers, and now it is shameful, as trailed down by 19 points. The Clips was lead by both Baron Davis and Eric Gordon that put the Wolves down at the dumpster with some impressive plays that earned them a combined 64 points and 18 assits. "Baron Davis and Eric Gordon is one dynamic duo. When Baron is need of a go to guy, there goes Gordon and then it adds Blake Griffin and Chris Kaman inside the court that gave the Clips a powerhouse play.", Kevin Love said. This game just spoiled Grant Hill's impressive job to push the team up with his 34 point contribution.

Team Leaders:
Points: Grant Hill - 34 points, Baron Davis - 34 points / Eric Gordon - 30 points
Rebounds: Kevin Love / Wesley Johnson / Allen Iverson - 4 rebounds, Chris Kaman - 10 rebounds
Assists: Allen Iverson - 8 assists, Baron Davis - 10 assists / Eric Gordon - 8 assists

Image

Wolves bounces back against the Rockets
@Rockets (80-105) W

The team managed to rebound from their two consecutive losses just before the month is about the end and their next victim is the recovering Yao Ming and the Houston Rockets. They just made another impressive win after putting down the Rockets with a huge 25 point lead. Compared to their other games, they able to pull out a good teamwork that let their main point contributors earn some low numbers. Both Jason Kapono and Kevin Love are at the spotlight of this game after Love made a double double and Kapono contributed 15 points and 7-11 FG with only 1 3 point FG.

Team Leaders:
Points: Kevin Love - 20 points / Allen Iverson - 18 points, Kevin Martin - 29 points
Rebounds: Kevin Love - 10 points, Yao Ming - 10 rebounds
Assists: Allen Iverson/Jonny Flynn - 8 assists, Mike Bibby - 8 assists

I simmed the other games to end January and luckily they are all W's! :D

The Minnesota Timberwolves are slowly turning out to be the dark horse replacing the Thunders as the favorite underdogs of the West and they surprisingly kicked out the Spurs in the eight seed.

Image

Wizards continues to impress the fans beating Boston in the first spot and shockingly the favorite Miami Heat which hangs down the 7th spot trailing behind such teams like Philadelphia and Milwaukee.

Grant Hill is gunning for the Sixth Man Award

Grant Hill just made another remarkable performance in his career with the Minnesota Timberwolves as he tuns out to be the "saviour in case of emergency" in his team. Hill had contributed a lot to help the Wolves pull up of the rankings and gave so much inspiration to his young teammates, Wesley Johnson and Kevin Love. "I told you the team really needs a veteran who will support the young guys in and out of the game.", David Khan said during a press conference. Grant Hill have turned himself to be an asset for the team and Allen Iverson's favorite go-to guy. Sometimes he also earns more minutes during a pressured game compared to the starters. "I am really much appreciated in this team", Grant said. "Honestly at first, I am disappointed when they told me I am going to be just the sixth man in the team but I tried to put down my ego and accepted the role and now I am doing just fine."

Grizzlies Claws Wolves in their home turf

vs. Grizzlies (112-110) L

Minnesota was again fell victim from the Memphis Grizzlies after a game winning shot from their new member, Evan Turner. The Grizzlies just upgraded in their back court team with the addition of the 2010 2nd overall draft pick Evan Turner, but this didn't gave the Wolves a threat since from the start of their game as they fight back and goes head to head with their opponents. Allen Iverson, who had a stint with Memphis, delivers a good performance in finding spots to get his team on the go while OJ Mayo comes off the bench and challenge AI in the second quarter and leads his team up to the second half. Evan Turner then returns back in the second half and helps his team in both sides of the court but then Kevin Love didn't let the Grizzlies passed them that easy and able to put up a total of 3 blocks and 6 turnovers in the game to let his team only trail by 4 points before the 3rd Quarter ends. Fourth Quarter showed a tight defense from the Wolves and AI lead his team to a 8-0 run but then Rudy Gay shows up and also tried a run for his team. At the end, the luck showed up on Memphis as Turner throws for the last shot to beat the Wolves.

Team Leaders:
Points: Wesley Johnson - 30 points, Rudy Gay/ OJ Mayo - 27 points
Rebounds: Wesley Johnson - 7 rebounds, Zach Randolph - 5 rebounds
Assists: Allen Iverson - 10 assists, Greivis Vasquez - 5 assists

Wolves wins big against Denver

vs. Nuggets (97-115) W

Wolves surprises the fans as they beat down the visiting Denver Nuggets, which still leaded by All Star Player Carmelo Anthony, to an 18 point lead. It has been just a tough night for the Nuggets for them to throw a huge number of miss shots at the start of the game that gave Minnesota an opportunity to do a run. Carmelo tries to get his team back in the game but the second half ends and his team is still trailing behind with 12 points. With losing their interest in the game, the Nuggets are slowly declining their good performance in the game that let the Wolves pass through. Wesley Johnson just made a career high of 39 points in this game and carried the team to the finish all night long.

Team Leaders:
Points: Wesley Johnson - 39 points, Carmelo Anthony - 27 points / Chauncey Billups - 25 points
Rebounds: Darko Milicic - 6 rebounds, Kenyon Martin - 13 rebounds
Assists: Allen Iverson - 5 assists, Chauncey Billups - 13 assists

Image

After a big win, Wolves trailed behind the Raptors

@Raptors (104-112)

The may had too much party after their game with Denver for them to forget that they will be heading to Toronto the next day to face Toronto Raptors which now leaded by the Italian Big Man Andrea Bargnani. The reason is that the team shows a great amount of fatigue during the game that caused them a slow start. Though they tried to get back in the second quarter as they try to stop Leandro Barbosa from rolling around the back court and trying to give the ball to Calderon for the 3 point. The team able to tie their game before the second half ends but then they are losing their energies at the second half for them to go trail behind their opponents by 8 points at the end of the game.

Team Leaders:
Points: Wesley Johnson - 30 points, Andrea Bargnani - 28 points
Rebounds: Darko Milicic/Wesley Johnson - 5 rebounds, Andrea Bargnani - 11 rebounds
Assists: Allen Iverson - 7 assists, Leandro Barbosa/Jose Calderon - 8 assists

Breaking News:
Denver and Philadelphia made a blockbuster trade - Chauncey Billups for Elton Brand

Image
Two former All Stars had swapped teams yesterday as the 13 year veteran, Chauncey Billups go to Philadelphia Sixers in exchange for the 1999 1st overall draft pick Elton Brand. Now, the Nuggets can now be considered as the Celtics of the East with their big men who can really contribute a lot in front court, if only Elton Brand stays healthy for the team. The trade was really a benefit for the Sixers, after losing Evan Turner, now that the Nuggets are going to rely only Ty Lawson and Anthony Carter on point. This will also make two former USA teammates, Andre Iguodala and Chauncey Billups reunite in the same court.
