2010 NBA All-Star Game, Arlington, Texas

Eastern All-Stars 109 - 122 Western All-Stars

Hometown hero Nowitzki leads West to victory

A big night from Dallas' adopted son Dirk Nowitzki led the Western all-stars to a 13 point victory over their eastern rivals. The 7 footer out of Germany added the 2010 all-star MVP to his 2007 NBA MVP award thanks to a 34 point 10 rebound 3 block performance at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Steve Nash and Yao Ming both added double doubles and Kobe Bryant contributed 20 points to the victory. For the East, the main man was Lebron James, who's 29 point 4 rebound 4 block night was'nt quite enough to win it for the eastern team, Shaquille O'Neal rolled back the years with 20 point game where he was one rebound short of a double double, Dwyane Wade and Mo Williams both contributed points and assists but the East were out boarded and out shot by the Western counterparts for much of the night

Game Leaders:

Points
-
East (James 29, O'Neal 20, Wade 16)
West (Nowitzki 34, Nash 23, Ming 20, Bryant 20)

Rebounds
-

West (Ming 15, Nowitzki 10)

Assists

Any feedback on my presentation of my first 2 played games would be much appreciated :)

I am now going to sim right to the end of the season and will be re-capping the season, inc awards etc, before possibly taking over for the playoffs if my bulls make it .

Looks good to me, though you might want to use the bold/underline BBCode on the Game Leaders. Might make the categories stand out a bit more. :)

Shame you couldn't take home the victory for the East but that's quite a game from Dirk, only fitting that he'd collect MVP honours I suppose.

Thanks mate i'll have an experiment based on your suggestion :), yeah all-star games on superstar are quite a challenge lol.
Big deadline day trade coming up, although sadly it is another prime example of the messed up trade logic of Live 10...

Heat acquire Pierce in deadline-day deal

ImageImage

In a sensational deadline day trade the Miami Heat gained 2008 finals MVP Paul Pierce for the Boston Celtics in exchange for Jermaine O'Neal, the trade of two of the biggest contracts in the league creates a formidable back court pairing in Miami teaming Pierce up with Dwyane Wade. Celtics fans must be scratching their heads at the deal which sees them lose their on court captain and franchise player of 11 years in exchange for a guy who will most likely be their back-up center for the rest of the season.

2009-2010 season review

The Bulls

Despite GM Jonny Schofield stating 09/10 would be a re-building year for the Bulls they mnaged to acheive the 6th seed in the east finishing with a record of 45 - 37. They had Christian Eyenga and Derrick Rose represent the rookies and sophomores respectively at the all-star weekend. Furthermore Eyenga was named to the all-rookie 1st team for his efforts, as well as winning east rookie of the month twice, in both december and february. James Johnson won the east rookie of the month in march and made the all-rookie 2nd team. The other award recipient for the Bulls was Kirk Hinrich who was named to the all-defensive 2nd team.

Bulls Leaders Season 09/10

PPG: John Salmons - 15.4
RPG: Joakim Noah - 7.4
APG: Derrick Rose - 6.1
BPG: Brad Miller - 1.4
SPG: Kirk Hinrich and John Salmons - 1.2
FG%: Brad Miller - 49.6%
3 PT%: Brad Miller - 44.8%
FT%: Kirk Hinrich - 87.0%
Mins: Joakim Noah - 2380

The NBA

This NBA season was charachterised by numerous big trades around the league and two teams sharing the league best record, the West's best Spurs and East's best Cavaliers each went 55-27, leading to predictions of a 2007 finals rematch to come this season. Orlando nearly caused a stir by nearly missing out on the playoffs with an 8 - 14 start, but buoyed by the acquisition of Amare Stoudemire they recoverd to finish 44 - 38 and claim the 8th spot in this years stronger Eastern conference, thus setting up a mouth watering first round clash between the Magic and Cavs. In the West the Lakers had a below-par season dropping to 6th seed in the west, givin themselves a tougher route back to the finals, nevertheless they remain one of the favourites for the title and so have a good chance to repeat this year. Surprise playoff teams include Golden State in the West and Indiana in the East, with teams such as Portland, New Orleans, Miami and Toronto disappointly finding themselves in the draft lottery and out of the playoffs. In terms of players, Dwyane Wade was the standout this year capturing has first MVP award along with the scoring title, all nba 1st team and all defensive 2nd team honours, as well as an all star start, he will be bitterly disappointed to not feature in the playoffs and may be looking to leave Miami via free agency this off-season.

[8] Golden State
-
[4] Utah
[5] Houston
-

[3] Phoenix
[6] LA Lakers

Predictions for conference winners and finals outcome are welcome ;)

I will take control for the playoffs, I fancy my chances of the conference finals if i can get past the Wizards, they are a good team in Live 10 but after that Boston and Indiana have both been weakened by poor trading making my path a little easier.

Chicago v Washington series preview and game 1 review to follow...

oop you swapped the East/West brackets in the last "Preview" post

predictions? since CLE has a pretty tough ride right from teh opener, i'm thinking BOS comes out of the ECF; but ultimately the Spurs will take the grand prize

Chicago Bulls 91 - 80 Washington Wizards (CHI leads series 2-0)

Behind Deng's big night, Bulls take it to 2-0 on the road

A thunderous dunk by Luol Deng with the first score of the game was a sign of things to come for the Bulls who shot the lights out in the 1st half of game 2 in the series on their way to a 17 point lead at the half, they cooled off significantly through quarters 3 and 4 but still remained good value for the win and now a series sweep of the higher seeded wizards looks likely. The story of the night was Chicago forward Luol Deng, who went 16 for 24 from the field on a night of 36 points and 7 rebounds for him, his mid range shot was on target all night and he showed strength on the low post also, Derrick Rose was ample back up for Deng with 23 points and 5 assists of his own to add to his impressive game 1, rookie James Johnson came off the bench to good effect having a 10 point 6 rebound 3 assist game himself. For the Wizards, Antawn Jamison had a good night with 23 points and 14 rebounds, Butler and Arenas added 16 and 20 points respectively, but it took them far too many shots to do so.

Game Leaders:

Points
-
Bulls (Deng 36, Rose 23, Johnson 10)
Wizards (Jamison 23, Arenas 20, Butler 16)

Rebounds
-
Bulls (Noah 9, Deng 7, Johnson 6)
Wizards (Jamison 14, Haywood 12)

Assists
-
Bulls (Hinrich 6, Rose 5)
Wizards (Miller 6, Arenas 6)

Player of the Game - Luol Deng(CHI) - 36 points, FG 16-24 , 7 rebounds, 1 block

Oh no!!! I used my game 1 report as a template for the game 2 report but insted of copying and pasting it i went over my actual game 1 report with the game 2 report!! :(

From what I can remember game 1 was 89-76 to the bulls, derrick rose got 26 points 5 rebounds and 6 assists and was player of the game.

Oh well at least I can learn from my mistake and not let it happen again! Next few games will be up tomorrow :)

Chicago Bulls 108 - 117 Washington Wizards (CHI leads series 2-1)

Wizards crash the boards, Jamison stars, Washington takes game 3

The Wizards outboarded the Bulls by 15 in the 1st game at the United center and in doing so gained a foothold in the series after a lacklustre first two games. Antawn Jamison was the main man for the Wizz with 34 points, 8 rebounds and 3 blocks, Butler and Haywood added double doubles, Arenas was a point short of one himself, Mike Miller scored 16 points, the win reflected a big improvement from the Wizards who showed they finally made the adjustment needed to beat the Bulls. Despite the loss there were some big games from Bulls players. Derrick Rose had a great night scoring 22 points and dishing an incredible 19 assists! Luol Deng impressed again with 25 points and 7 boards, Kirk Hinrich was on fire from downtown scoring 30 points and goin 6 for 9 from beyond the arc. Sadly for the Bulls they just werent there in terms of rebounding on the night and so failed to make a meaningful incision into the lead Washington ended up carrying to the finish.

Game Leaders:

Points
-
Bulls (Hinrich 30, Deng 25, Rose 22)
Wizards (Jamison 34, Butler 17. Haywood 16, Miller 16)

Rebounds
-
Bulls (Deng 7, Noah 5)
Wizards (Haywood 10, Jamison 8)

Assists
-

Player of the Game - Antawn Jamison(WAS) - 34 points, 8 rebounds, 3 blocks

Great work on the season recap. Looking at some of those results, I'm of course reminded of how much I want to see some improvements to the sim engine along the award selection and trade logic in NBA Elite 11. It's one of the reasons I'm sticking with NBA Live 06 for Dynasty play right now, I'm too much of a Dynasty geek to let some of that stuff slide. ;)

Good start, shame about Game 3 but I'm sure you can bounce back. If the Spurs don't recover, I could see the Lakers or Mavericks coming out of the West.

Thanks mate, i had to check to make sure it was actually on Superstar difficulty after the first two games, the third reminded me it was :P, as it stands the spurs have got it back to 2-2, the lakers are as good as gone at 1-3! dallas and denver are 2-2 as are cleveland and orlando.

Looks like the Suns held their own with homecourt advantage after all. Still the potential for a few upsets there at 2-2.

Chicago Bulls 110 - 129 Washington Wizards (series tied 2-2)

Wizards smash Bulls to even up series

The Wizards shot the ball incredibly well in the 4th quarter to fend off fight back attempts from the Bulls and even up a series in which neither team has been able to win on their home court thus far. Mike Miller was the high point man with 30, Antawn Jamison, Gilbert Arenas and Brendan Haywood all added sizable double doubles, Caron Butler scored 21 in the 19 point win. For the Bulls, Luol Deng impressed again with 28 points 7 rebounds 5 assists and 5 blocks, as did Derrick Rose with 24 points and 12 assists, Salmons and Hinrich added 17 and 16 respectively, but both shot the ball below 40% from the field, meaning things will be all square when the teams renew their rivalry at the Verizon center for game 5.

They say it isn't a series until a team wins on the road. Given how the first four games have gone down, I'd say it's well and truly a series. ;) Hope you can bounce back and advance.

Chicago Bulls 93 - 113 Washington Wizards (WAS leads series 3-2)

Wizards pull away in the fourth to put Bulls on the brink

Once again the Wizards shot over 60% in the fourth quarter as they became the first team to win at home in the series, the Bulls will be scratching their heads as to just how exactly they threw away their 2-0 series lead. Things started well for the Bulls as they lead by 2 points at the interval thanks to some tight defence as a result of coach Del Negro's decision to zone up, however that zone evaporated in the 4th quarter and with it went Chicago's chances of winning. Antawn Jamison shone again filling up the stat sheet with 27 points 10 rebounds 5 assists and 3 blocks, Arenas and Haywood both went 20-10, Arenas close to a triple double as well with 7 boards, Mike Miller added 22 points. For the Bulls Deng was not quite as good as previously in the series but still managed 16 points 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 blocks, Derrick Rose had 18 points and 8 asisstsand a cameo from Christian Eyenga saw the rookie make his first meaningful contribution to the series with 14 points and a steal and a block, but the Bulls wen 2-15 from downtown on their way to a third straight loss meaning they now must win back to back if they wish to advance.

Eyenga is on the list of free agents at the start of the game, his profile says he was drafted by cleveland 30th in 09, he has no picture however just the blacked out face one, so I presume they waved him straight away, his overall is only 63 but he does ok off the bench :) thanks for the kind words george 7 :)
