Sunday November 1st @ The Ford Center, Oklahoma City, OK

Portland Trailblazers [2-1] @ Oklahoma City Thunder [2-0]

Starting Line-ups

Portland
G | Andre Miller | 78 Overall
G | Steve Blake | 72 Overall
G-F | Brandon Roy | 88 Overall
F-C | LaMarcus Aldridge | 77 Overall
C | Greg Oden | 74 Overall

Oklahoma City
G | Russel Westbrook | 80 Overall
G | James Harden | 76 Overall
F | Jeff Green | 77 Overall
F | Kevin Durant | 84 Overall
C | Etan Thomas | 62 Overall

Image
Kevin Durant will be hard to stop

The major focus of this game for the Blazers will be how to stop Kevin Durant. He has some huge averages already this season (though there have only been 2 games played by the Thunder) and doesn't look like he's going to slow down anytime soon. The entire Portland defense is going to have a very tough time with him in this one. Look for Greg Oden to try to exploit the poor talent at the C position for OKC, with Etan Thomas being the starter and Nenad Krstic being his back-up. This one should be very hotly contested between 2 division rivals, 1 coming off a tough loss, and the other trying to continue to stay undefeated this season. This one could go either way

I Really hate the real-life Blazers Starting guard situation.
Blake really should just start at PG,Miller is doing shit,he should be traded.
Then Rudy could step up and start.
Any early trade Thoughts?

Well I'm seriously contemplating trading away Miller, but I hate early trades during the season. I want to see how he goes, take a look at his averages after a few more games and make a decision. There's no one else on the team who I want to get rid of, because I really love the side.. Also there's going to be a bit dropping to the D-League coming up :)

Thunder grab lead, but Oden rallies Trailblazers to win

First Quarter:
Hopefully, for the Blazers' sake the game doens't go as it started. A missed dunk by Greg Oden on one end led to an alley-oop from Westbrook to Durant on the other end to open the scoring. The Thunder then went on to score the first 9 points of the game. The Thunder continued to hold onto a 10 point lead with 2 minutes remaining in the first. Holding onto that lead for the final 2 minutes, they went into the second quarter leading 26-16

Second Quarter:
Portland opened the quarter with a bit more fire and urgency, trying to cut into the lead. They cut it to 6 within the first 2 minutes. However the Thunder would go on another run, to once again extend the lead to 12. Portland would again but the lead back to 7 with 3 minutes remaining. Portland continued to work away at the lead and managed to cut the lead to 2 points at half time, trailing 46-48.

Player At The Half:
LaMarcus Aldridge | 6 Rebounds | 4 Assists | 1 Steal

Third Quarter:
Portland would open the quarter with some good play on both ends of the court to put them in front for the first time in the match, 53-52. The game would go mainly basket-for-basket for the remainder of the quarter, with the Portland big man having to do a lot of the work with Brandon Roy shooting terribly. Portland trail by 2 at the end of the third quarter, 65-67.

Fourth Quarter:
Portland would open the quarter on a 10-4 run, and take a 4 point lead 75-71 with 5 minutes remaining. 2 offensive rebounds and a second chance dunk by Durant would cut a Portland lead from 5 to 3 with 2:44 remaining. A 3 pointer by Steve Blake to extend the lead to 8 with 1:28 remaining looked to have sealed the game. The game however wasn't completely over. The Thunder attempting a comeback with some nice shooting cut the lead to 4 with 26.2 seconds remaining off a Westbrook 3 pointer. A 3 point play from Andre Miller though would close out the game and remove any chance of a comeback. They would go on to win the game by 7, 98-91.

Final Score: Portland 98 - 91 Oklahoma City

OKC | 26 | 22 | 19 | 24 | 91
POR | 16 | 30 | 19 | 33 | 98

Player Of The Game:
Brandon Roy | 19 Points | 5 Assists | 4 Rebounds

BLAZERS ROSTER MOVEMENT

Rookie PG Patty Mills has been in the Blazers 12 man rotation for their first 4 games of the season. Patty has played in 3 of these games, averaging only 0.7 Assists per game and no scores, shooting 0/4 from the field during his time on the court. The Blazers coaching staff believes, though Patty has good skills and high potential, he is not fully developed yet and needs so more time before he can compete at NBA standards. Therefore he is being sent down to the Idaho Stampede of the D-League, along with fellow rookie Jeff Pendergraph, who has not received any minutes so far this season and is being sent down there with him because he needs to continue playing if he is to show he can play at an NBA level as well. Also it has been announced that rookie PF Dante Cunningham will be given the minutes that Mills was receiving and he will be trying to make a push at a full time role with the team.

Tuesday November 3rd 2009 @ The Rose Garden Arena, Portland, OR

Atlanta Hawks [2-1] @ Portland Trailblazers [3-1]

Starting Line-ups

Atlanta
G | Mike Bibby | 68 Overall [Playing with Injury - Broken Nose]
G | Jamal Crawford | 74 Overall
G-F | Joe Johnson | 88 Overall
F | Josh Smith | 82 Overall
C | Al Horford | 78 Overall

Portland
G | Steve Blake | 72 Overall
G-F | Brandon Roy | 88 Overall
G-F | Rudy Fernandez | 69 Overall
F-C | LaMarcus Aldridge | 78 Overall
C | Greg Oden | 74 Overall

Image
Blake leads the league in 3PT%

The Portland come into this game with a slightly new look starting line-up. Starting PG Andre Miller has been demoted to the bench indefinitely due to poor play on the offensive end of the court thus far during the season. Steve Blake (formerly starting SG) will now be starting in his place, with Brandon Roy moving down from SF to his natural position in SG. Rudy Fernandez had been showing some good play off the bench thus far, so the Blazers coaching staff decided that he was the right man to take the job at starting SF. "We have a lot of faith in Rudy and believe he can produce some good games from the starting position", coach Nate McMillan said when asked about the situation.

This game will be quite a hard one for the Blazers to deal with. The Hawks are one of the best teams in the league and have a great amount of talent. Joe Johnson will be one to look out for, with Rudy Fernandez matching up against him. Look for Greg Oden to continue is good form from their win against the Thunder. This should be a good one to watch and we hope that both teams show some high quality Basketball. This one could go down to the wire.

Fernandez drops career high 26 in win over Hawks

First Quarter:
The Blazers opened the game on a high note, with an easy dunk by Greg Oden. A miss by Jamal Crawford on the other end turned into another easy dunk, this time from LaMarcus Aldridge. Portland would continue their good play to begin the quarter, taking a 13-7 lead with 5 minutes remaining thanks to some good play by Rudy Fernandez and Greg Oden. Fernandez had scored 9 of the Blazers' first 17 points. Both teams played some very good basketball throughout the first quarter, and showed that the remainder of the match will most likely play out the same, close and of high quality. The Blazers had a small advantage at the end of the first quarter, leading 26-22

Second Quarter:
The second quarter opened with a small run by the Hawks to get themselves into the lead. Rookie Dante Cunningham came into the game with just under 7 minutes to play in the half, to receive his first ever minutes of his NBA career. He came out playing well immediately, recording a nice steal. Brandon Roy had been struggling so far, with just 4 points from 2/6 from the field, however everyone else was doing a good job to pick up the slack. The Blazers would come alight for the final few minutes of the half, going on a big run lead by Rudy and Roy. They would close the quarter on a shot jumper by Rudy to lead 50-37 at half time.

Player At The Half:
Rudy Fernandez | 15 Points | 3 Rebounds | 1 Steal

Third Quarter:
The Blazers continued to play well during the third quarter, still leading by 15 with 4 minutes remaining. The remainder of the quarter played out mostly basket-for-basket, with the Blazers heading into the third quarter with a 14 point lead mainly thanks to Fernandez, 71-57.

Fourth Quarter:
The Hawks began the final quarter rocketing out of the gates. They went on a very good run lead by Joe Johnson to cut the lead to 8 with plenty of time still remaining on the clock. A wide open 3 by Johnson would cut the lead to 5. However the league's best 3 point shooter, Steve Blake, would hit right back with a 3 of his own. Atlanta would keep coming, with some great shooting by Johnson and Crawford. The lead was cut to 3 with 3:49 remaining. An easy lay-up from Roy would extend the lead to 5, but the very next play it was cut back to 2 by a 3 from Jamal Crawford. The Blazers would regain their composure and extend the lead back out to 6 with 2 minutes remaining in the game. Portland would not lose their heads though, and would go on to win the game thanks to come cool headed play from Fernandez and Roy, 93-85

Final Score: Atlanta 85-93 Portland

POR | 26 | 24 | 21 | 22 | 93

Good win dude, I like the line up you are using now. While im a fan of Miller IRL I just don't see him working that well with the Blazers in game or in real life so I think a trade may be on the cards for you soon.

Yeah well his role has changed from Starter to Role Player, and he's not happy about it, so he'll probably want to be out of Portland anyway.. Either way he's definitely leaving the team. Stayed tuned for an update :)

Okay guys I'm changing my recap style to Weekly recaps with short recaps of each game within the weekly recaps. It will involve players of the week and power rankings, plus some other league news. This should make it easier for me to make through an entire season and actually be able to play some games with the NLSC Draftees..

My first weekly recap will be from the start of the week from my most recent "Around the league: weekly recap", so from the Thunder game..

Seems like Fernandez is doing well for everybody on the Blazers. Good win, I find it hard to beat the Hawks with Crawford coming off the bench and scoring in bunches on me.

Yeah he's always lights out from 3 when I play them (I think he was 4-7 this time?). Almost attempted a trade with him for Miller but didn't think it was comepletely realistic, with the Hawks already having a good veteran PG in Bibby.

Yeah I doubt the Hawks would want to lose Crawford, he is one of the reasons they are doing so well IRL.

Okay I've decided to stick with the daily recaps but changed the style I do them in.. Game recaps are inspired in part by hova-, I better get his permission :D
