RAPTORS LOSE THIRD STRAIGHT

The Raptors faced the Suns on a 2 game losing streak and seemed confident through the first 2 quarters. After that the Suns moved to another level and totally dominated the Raptors. Even though players put up good figures again it seemed this was not enough to get them over the line. Chris Bosh had 30 points and 17 boards, Hedo Turkoglu had 27 points, 7 boards and 7 assists, and Jose Calderon had a career high 22 assists. These stellar performances went unrewarded however as the Suns ran away with the win. Steve Nash had a big game and also Amare Stoudemire who had a double double with 24 points and 14 rebounds. After 3 straight losses the Raptors are looking for anwsers and can't seem to find any. They are putting up good numbers but still can't get over the line. We at the Times hope that they bounce back from these tough losses against the Wizards in their next match.

Grrr Steve Nash. That pesky Canadian is always a thorn in my side. Hope you snap that losing streak soon. That photo of Bosh and Amare is badass :)

THE MONTHLY REPORT

The Raptors have had a solid start to the season and are looking like an exiting team. One main problem so far this season is the inability to win at home. The Raptors are currently 3 and 5 at home. They currently sit in 7th place and have a record of 10 - 8.

0.5 SPG

The points have fallen for this former number 1 draft pick but that was expected with the acquistions of Turkoglu and Mayo. He has fitted into his new role very well and has worked on his all around game. He has become a better rebounder and a better passer of the ball which has helped his team. So even though his scoring has dropped he has really become a better player.
Image
19.7 PPG
11.8 RPG
4.2 APG
1.8 BPG

Bosh has been the star of Toronto since he was drafted there and has been their best player. In the 09/10 season he has continued and lived up to his high expectations and averages easily a double double. He has also become a better defender this season and this can be seen through his improved shot blocking ability.
Image
27.5 PPG
5.8 RPG
4.2 APG
1.0 BPG
1.0 SPG

This is clearly Turkoglu's best season in the NBA and he has exceled in all departments. Most notably is his scoring which has never been anywere near this amount during the course of his career. His passing has also risen to new heights this season as he is averaging over 4 assits per game. If Turkoglu continues this tremoundous form there will be no doubt that he will be crowned MVP.
Image
15.5 PPG
2.1 RPG
3.3 APG
0.7 BPG
1.1 SPG

This is OJ Mayos second season in the NBA and his numbers have fallen from his great rookie year. This is probably due to the change in team style and the fact that there aren't as many points to go around. In Toronto he has developed a new role of being a supporting player and not the star.
Image
8.4 PPG
2.0 RPG
8.7 APG

After a horror first couple of games JC has found his feet and has continued playing a traditional point guard role for thsi Raptors team. He is a great passer and can always find an open teammate. His form will decide weather Toronto will go far this season.

RAPTORS BACK TO WINNING WAYS

The Raptors ready to prove that they can win at home faced the Wizards and absolutely demolished them. All the Raptors had terrific nights and the bench got some very valuable minutes. Both Chris Bosh and Andrea Bargnani got double doubles with 24 points and 12 rebounds respectively. Bosh also had 4 blocks on the night which really illustrates how much the big men dominated. Reserve Amir Johnson also had a productive night off the bench with 3 rejections of his own. The team really came together in this game and got a good win after a 3 game losing streak. The Raptors now have a 3 game road trip and look to make a clean sweep.

THE RAPTORS GET BLOWN OUT IN THE 4th

Jay Triano failed to comment about his teams performance after they were outscored 40 - 23 in the 4th quarter. It was a close affair throughout the first 3 quarters but in the 4th the Raptors looked deflated and took poor shots. CB4 was the Raptors best player and just missed out on a triple double with 24 points, 15 boards and 9 assists. Mention should also go to rookie DeMar DeRozen who scored 20 points and really tried to make up for a lack of scoring in the 4th. Joe Johnson had a huge night for the Hawks and had 40 points. After this dissappointing loss the Raptors need to rebuild and ensure the win against Washington in their next game.

THE RAPTORS EMBARRASS THE WIZARDS FOR A SECOND TIME IN A WEEK

The Raptors looking to redeem themselves after the loss to Atlanta came out very aggressive. They were knocking shots down from everywere on the court and all Washington could do is watch. It was a real team effort and all players played exceptionally. OJ Mayo had a game high 28 points followed by DeMare DeRozan with 23. Chris Bosh played his usual game and got a double double with 18 points and 11 boards. Bosh and Bargnani dominated the paint with 7 blocks between them and really set the tone of the game. This was a great win for the Raptors and it has really restored their confidence. Lets hope that they can carry this through till there next game in Chicago and come away with the win.

TYRUS THOMAS IS A RAPTOR

Toronto just before their game against the Bulls agreed on a 3 player trade. Toronto sent Patrick O'Bryant and Marco Belinelli to Chicago for Tyrus Thomas. Thomas had been calling for a trade after seeing limited minutes. Thomas's stats had been down this season and in order for him to grow as a player he felt that he needed a trade. Thomas comes off contract this year and it is vital for him to put up good numbers so that he can find a decent offer. The people of Toronto are very exicted to see this young athletic player in action.

THE RAPTORS HUGE 4th GIVES THEM THE WIN IN THE "WINDY CITY"

After a 3 man trade the night before both teams had some new faces. Team chemistry didn't seem to be a problem for either team and the Bulls had a big 1st. The Raptors trailed most of the match due mainly to Brad Miller and Joakim Noah who had 47 points between them and 6 blocks. Former Rookie of the Year Derrick Rose also lived up to his reputation and posted 28 points and 9 assists. The Raptors fought hard and dug deep to get the lead and eventually the win. OJ Mayo was the high point man with 31 points and was the only consistent scorer on the floor. CB4 who finished with 19 points was cold through the 1st and 2nd quarters but like a true All-Star he made the shots that count. New acquisition Tyrus Thomas had a decent night against his former team scoring 8 points, 2 rebounds and 1 block. The Raptors now have a 5 day break before they face the Timberwolves at home. Lets hope they can rest up and demolish the T-Wolves at the Air Canada Centre.

I like the trade for Tyus Thomas. Since he's coming off contract next season, it's fairly low risk. Plus I'm sure you'll learn to cope without O'Bryant and Belinelli

THE RAPTORS BITE BACK AGAINST THE T-WOLVES

The Raptors have again come from behind to get the victory against the Timberwolves in a very boring match. Both teams were missing shots and even some easy dunks. However even though Jay Triano pointed out his teams faults in a press conference he also said 'a wins a win, and we'll take it'. The Raptors travel to Milwaukee in their next game were they will have to find a way to stop explosive rookie Brandon Jennings.

BOSH STARS IN RAPTORS WIN OVER THE BUCKS

The 14 - 9 Raptors faced the 11 - 9 Bucks in a epic game. Shots were being made all over the floor. The game had the whole arena on the edge of their seats and even the Bucks fans had to acknowledge the Raptors performance. The Sprite Player of the Game was Chris Bosh however the Brandon Jennings was not far behind him. The rookie had excellent first half were he had 22 points. The Raptors are now on a 4 game winning streak and there next game is against the hot Hawks who are currently first in the Eastern Conference. The Raptors face the Hawks trying to seek vengence after they were blown out in the 4th by the Hawks 5 games ago.

THE TORONTO TIMES

RAPTORS LOSE TO HAWKS IN OT

The Raptors faced the Hawks for the second time in a week and were trying not to go down 2-0. The Hawks currently lead the Eastern Conference and the Raptors are always trying to prove that they can beat the better teams. However they have lost to all the big east teams such as the Cavs, Celtics, Magic and now Hawks. The Raptors did not go down without a fight and there were some outstanding individual performances on both teams. The Player of the was CB4 but without Turkoglu the Raptors would not have got to OT. In the 3rd and 4th Turkoglu shot 10 of 12 from the field including a 3 pointer to send the game to overtime. However it seemed he was exhausted when they got to OT and couldn't buy a shot only hitting 1 of 11. The Raptors seemed dejected after the loss so it will be interesting to see how they bounce back after this tough loss.
