Bobcats lost Felton, the race for Iverson and so they signed Marbury.

Marbury gets 70M deal from the Bobcats

The Charlotte Bobcats announced today that they have signed 13-year veteran, FA Stephon Marbury to a 6-year, 69.89M deal.

The Bobcats needed help at the point, as RFA Raymond Felton signed with the Pistons and Allen Iverson reached a deal with the Grizzlies.

This deal is a huge risk, because when the contract expires, Marbury would be 38 and still making over 10M annually. Marbury is also known for his attitude problems and he is very out of shape.

'Starbury' only played 23 games last season with the Celtics, having spend most of the season inactive with the Knicks. He shot just 34% from the field during the regular season. He reduced it to 30% in the Playoffs.

Now he will be starting for the Bobcats. Go figure.

This deal is described by specialists and analysts as "What the **** were they thinking?".

The Bobcats also announced the signing of Smush Parker, also to a 6-year deal.

Childress is back in the NBA after spending a season with Olympiacos Piraeus in Greece.

Clippers lure Childress back to the NBA.

The Los Angeles Clippers announced the signing of Josh Childress to a 5-year deal.

Childress would earn less annually then he would with Olympiacos Piraeus, but he felt that the Clippers' offer was too good to turn down.

The Clippers also signed Nate Robinson and with the first pick of the draft, Blake Griffin, they may get in the Playoffs.

Childress averaged 8.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 1.1 steals per game during the Euroleague 2008-09 season and 13.5 points and 3.8 rebounds in the Greek League.

Childress played 4 seasons in the NBA before heading to Greece, averaging 11.1 points for the Hawks in 285 games.

The Magic and the Hornets added front-court depth with the signings of LaFrentz and Swift.

Magic and Hornets add bigs.

The Eastern Conference powerhouse - the Orlando Magic - have added help to Dwight Howard with the signing of Raef Lafrentz. Lafrentz' previous contract ended, which earned him over 12M in 08/09 while appearing in 0 games.

He will be tasting the good money yet again, as the deal will increase his bank account over 6M annually.

The Magic now have Howard, Bass, Gortat, Foyle, Lewis and LaFrentz, one of the deepest front-courts in the league.

The Hornets have added help to Emeka Okafor down low with the signing of athletic C Stromile Swift to a 1-year deal.

geevus! is that Greg Oden or ODIN, Lord of Asgard!? be nice if his real-life Portland counterpart reached near that potential...

Marbury and Smush both signed a six-year deal ? With the Bobcats ?
Very surprising .

Clutch, that would help the Blazers a lot. I admit that one shot was selfish, as Roy was all over him, but the rest were wide open, as he was on the receiving end of the extra pass.

Fresh, thanks. :P Nice to see you following.

homicide1550, thanks. And good luck to you with the Cavs!

MikeMan™, yeah, I was shocked too. They screwed up their future with these signings.

I won't post every game from now on, because I don't see the point. I'll post the ones where something exciting happened. Like some scoring outburst, a buzzer-beater and so on. I was bored yesterday and played like 6-8 games ahead.

Stay tuned.

He didn't play entire games, he intervenes and only plays 4th quarter(read 2nd post), so it's not that much.

Delfino came in and hit two threes, including this one over D-Wade.

Bucks superb defensively, cool down the Heat.

The Bucks have started to play defense, something coach Skiles wanted all along. The Bucks allowed just 10 points in the 4th quarter and beat the Heat 92-78.

Andrew Bogut has been on a tear as of late, finishing with a double-double yet again. This marks his 4th in the last 5 games. Wilson Chandler and Brandon Jennings both had double-soubles as well. Michael Redd scored 21, a bit less then his season average (24.5).

Chandler scored a season-high 16 points and grabbed a season-high 10 rebounds, without a doubt his best game this season.

The Bucks defense showed on Dwyane Wade. Last years scoring champion scored just 13 points on 4-16 shooting. He did have 10 assists.

Michael Beasley has not been playing well this season and scored just 4 points on 2-8 shooting. Udonis Haslem scored 3 points as he and Beasley combined to shoot 2-11 from the field.

Jermaine O'Neal and Mario Chalmers were the only bright spots for the Heat as both finished with 24 points. Jermaine added 9 rebounds.

The Bucks were prepared for the fourth quarter as they knew that D-Wade would do wonders as he usually does. However, thing couldn't been different. The Bucks defense was superb, Wade was often trapped in double-teams and could attempt just one shot in final quarter before heading to the bench as the Heat fell down by 12 with a minute to go.

Mario Chalmers scored 8 of the Heat final quarter 10 points and kept the Heat in the game with 4 minutes to go. But Carlos Delfino hit a three and the Bucks forced a 24-second shot-clock violation on the next possession.

The Bucks defense has been shaky. In the first 3 games, they allowed over 110 points per game. However, in the last 4 games including this, they haven't allowed over 100 and in the last two not more then 80.

The Heat shot just 37% from the field and 17% from deep compared to 49% and 29% by the Bucks.

Flynn had the best came of his career, but the guy on the right led his team to a W.

Redd wins scoring-battle against Flynn, Bucks win the game.

Just as the Bucks showed promising defense, the Minnesota Timberwolves came to town.

The Wolves haven't had the best off-season. Ricky Rubio has been a trouble-child with his previous contract in Europe, which needs a buy-out.

Luckily, the Wolves picked Jonny Flynn with the 6th pick. The former Syracuse guard exploded for 41 points and 12 assists, both career-highs. Al Jefferson was a beast also, as he finished with 28 points and 17 rebounds.

The two combined to shoot 27-46 (59%) from the field and 10-10 from the line.

Luckily, the Bucks have a guy called Michael Redd. Redd was red hot as finished with a season-high 46 points on 16-27 shooting, draining 5 threes along the way. Andrew Bogut added another double-double, his 5th in 6 games and Luc Mbah a Moute was solid off the bench with 11 points and 4 rebounds.

With the final 12 minutes ahead, Flynn already had a double-double with 31 points and 10 assists. Michael Redd had 24 points.

Redd erupted for 24 fourth-quarter points, draining 3 of his 5 threes to put the game away in the end. Redd was very impressed how Flynn played. "I know there's all that hype around Rubio, but with the looks of things the Wolves are fine without him. Jonny is really something special."

However, Flynn's inexperience showed in the final seconds as he couldn't get a shot off and turned the ball over.

Flynn's 41 is the most among rookies this season. After him is James Harden with a miserable 30. Brandon Jennings' career high is 22 which came against Toronto.

Jordan led to Bulls to six NBA titles.

National Basketball Association retires #23 league-wide in honor of Michael Jordan.

Michael Jordan was inducted into the hall of fame in September and now the NBA honored the greatest of all time even more.

David Stern announced, that Jordan's jersey #23 will be retired league-wide, just like MLB did with Jackie Robinson (No. 42). All current #23 wearers had to pre-accept it, otherwise this wouldn't have gone through.

The most successful #23 currently, Lebron James, has already said that he is fine if #23 would be retired.

If the NBA retired 23 because of Michael (Jordan) like baseball did with Jackie Robinson (No. 42), I would definitely switch it."

James would be changing his number to "6", the number he was wearing when he won the gold medal with Team USA in the Beijing Olympics.

Other #23 wearers, Kevin Martin, Marcus Camby, Carlos Delfino, Jason Richardson and others have accepted the retirement. Many explained that they chose the number after Jordan.

#23 is retired in Chicago, where Jordan spent the most of his career and won 6 titles and 5 MVP awards. The Miami Heat also retired #23 in honor of Jordan on April 11, 2003.

Also having retired #23 are Lou Hudson, Atlanta Hawks; Calvin Murphy, Houston Rockets; Frank Ramsey, Boston Celtics; John Williamson, New Jersey Nets.

The following players would be changing their numbers :

    Lebron Jamess to #6
    Jason Richardson to #5
    Marcus Camby to #21
    Kevin Martin to #22
    Devin Brown to #17
    Carlos Delfino to #15
    Stephen Graham to #16
    Quentin Richardson to #31
    C.J. Watson to #53
    Louis Williams to #3
    Shelden Williams to #33
    B. Mullens to #20

Jackson caused a lot of problems for the Bucks as he scored all his points in the fourth.

Bucks lose 5th straight against league-leading Lakers.

The Lakers signed Bobby Jackson just a few weeks ago and the investment payed off in just his second game. Kobe Bryant fouled out in the start of the fourth and Jackson came in, scored 11 points in 2 minutes, a 11-0 run by himself to help the Lakers win their 9th straight.

The Lakers held the Bucks starters scoreless for the first 3 minutes of the fourth. They had a 14 point lead to go in and quickly increased it to 25.

Scott Skiles saw, that a 5th straight loss was unavoidable. He called a time-out and subbed in his second unit.

It was too late, as Michael Redd and Brandon Jennings were really upset about foul calls. Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol did what they want around the rim, pushed Andrew Bogut and Hakim Warrick to the ground with no foul calls.

On a switch, Redd was covering Gasol, who backed down on him. Redd fell down as Gasol elbowed him in the face. No foul was called. Gasol passed to Bynum who pushed the 170-pound Jennings out of bounds and dunked.

Redd and Jennings were furious and went to argue with the officials. Both received technicals and Skiles quickly ordered them to the bench so they couldn't have got another one.

The bench unit wasn't much better, but didn't let the lead get any bigger. Kurt Thomas scored 9 of the bench 14 points.

In a press release after the game, it stated that both Brandon Jennings and Michael Redd are suspended for 1 game without pay. The Bucks will visit the Wizards next.

    Final Score :

MIL | 26 | 18 | 12 | 22 | 78
LAL | 26 | 31 | 13 | 31 | 99

    Key Player Stats :

Michael Redd : 19 points, 8-14 FG, 3-5 3PT

Mbah a Moute scored 19 points off the bench, but the absence of Redd and Jennings was too much.

No Jennings & Redd, Bucks fall below .500.

Brandon Jennings and Michael Redd were in street clothes on the bench and had to witness how the Bucks lost their 6th straight game and fell below the .500 mark for the first time this season.

The Wizards shot .500 from the field and had 6 players in double-figures. Carlos Delfino got the starting nod in Michael Redd's place and finished with a point and 2 assists.

Andrew Bogut finished with a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds on 5-14 shooting. The only other bright spot was Luc Mbah a Moute, who scored 19 points off the bench in 18 minutes.

The Wizards are playing really well as Arenas, Butler and Jamison are all healthy and the new additions Mike Miller and Randy Foye are playing great, combining for 28 points.

Redd and Jennings will be back in uniform against the Suns, hoping to take the Bucks to .500 again.

    Final Score :
