Pretty decent expansion draft, of course not gonna be getting all-star caliber players but not too bad selection.
Webster and Gibson are superb pics and guys like McGee, Allen, and Bonner can fill the gaps.

Great draft! Nice to see you pick my favorite player(AI)! :)

Re: 2K9 Swingers :: Expansion Draft Results.

Sat Aug 01, 2009 5:35 am

newc - I don't see a big trade as of now, I might trade a couple of players for future picks.

Its_asdf - Thanks man. I might trade Ridnour for another point guard, the truth is, I picked him as trade bait... he has a high rating...

Sit - Odom (if I sign him ) will surely go to the power forward position, Iverson at the 1, Allen at 2, Morrison at 3, Odom, Diop at 5...

homicide1550, Martti. - Thanks... the plan as of now is to get a high draft pick next year, won't get very far with this roster...

Jing - Webster and Gibson, I always wanted them when I got them unprotected :P

StupidBoy - Thanks man, nice to have a new follower. Your Fallout 3 story is also very original, I'm not posting there because I don't know if you will make some kind of an index...

Spaky - AI will be leader alongside the other signing... :)

Swingers sign Lamar Odom, expansion draft picks
Posted: 29/7/2009, 5:27 PM

Hove Beach, Liberty City -- Liberty City Swingers owner Roman Bellic announced today that the team has signed free agent forward Lamar Odom to a 1-year deal worth 5.59M and expansion draft picks Allen Iverson, Melvin Ely and Desmond Mason to contracts, as all three were free agents.

Odom has played 78 games for the Lakers last season -starting 32- and leading the Los Angeles team to the NBA title, posting averages of 11.3 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 29.7 minutes. He also shot .492% from the feld and .320% from beyond the arc. He also played four seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers (1999/2000 - 2002/2003) and one with the Miami Heat (2003/2004). He was then traded to the Lakers, along Brian Grant and Caron Butler, with Shaquille O'Neal joining the Florida team.

Iverson, 10-time All-Star, has led the league in scoring four times. He has averaged 23.5 points and 5.4 assists per game over his 13 seasons but posted a career low 17.4 ppg average last season with the Detroit Pistons. A bad back limited Iverson to 57 games last season between the Denver Nuggets and the Pistons, and he was also embroiled in controversy when he bristled at coming off the bench for Detroit.

Ely (6-10, 261) holds career averages of 5.6 points and 3.3 rebounds while shooting .457% from the field and .625% from the free throw line in 343 games. A former lottery selection (12th overall) of the 2002 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Clippers, Ely spent his first two seasons with the Clippers before signing with the Charlotte Bobcats prior to the 2004-05 season. Ely spent two-and-a-half seasons with the Bobcats before being traded to the San Antonio Spurs mid-way through the 2006-07 campaign. He averaged 3.0 points and 1.8 rebounds in 30 games between the two teams that season. Last season he was signed by the New Orleans Hornets, where he posted averages of 3.1 points and 2.1 rebounds in 12.0 minutes, shooting .389% from the field and .639% from the charity stripe.

“Lamar played a key role off the bench in the Lakers' championship run. I think he's going to be a great addition to us. It's about how well the team plays together. No matter how much talent you have, it's about how you put those pieces of the puzzle together,” Bellic said. “Melvin is a proven big man who will help to solidify out frontcourt. He is a reliable inside presence who will give us another option in the rotation and push our current frontcourt players.”

Mason, entering his tenth season out of Oklahoma State, carries a career scoring average of 12.2 points per game and averaged a career-best 17.2 points with Milwaukee in the 04/05 season. Bellic added: “Getting a player of Desmond's quality has tremendous value. He is still a dunker, but he's added a whole lot more to his game than that. He gets to the free-throw line a lot, he's a great one-on-one player, and that's something that we really don't have a lot of. He's a guy that can get his own shot as well as get other people's shots.”

Wait... what happens to the Grizzlies players? Sorry if you made it clear - I usually just skim recaps. Anyway, fun team you have set up. Should be a big challenge with a 30-ish win team of old guys. Looking forward to the regular season.

Not the baddest team but still I dont see you putting up huge Ws with AI and Lamar. Actually character-wise these aint the guys Id like to rely on :) But maybe they are just there for a year to help the others to develop. Keep it up!

Martti, De8, Valor - Thanks guys.

Alejandrov011 - He will do all the dirty work.

homicide1550 - Thanks. Will take the Grizzlies spot, so I'm with the Spurs, Mavs, Rockets and Hornets. Will be difficult.

Sit - He is one of my favs, I think he was the biggest name in free agency.

Lamrock - All Grizz are in the FA pool. Signed all 50 rating players to the team. Will do a little article later, all of them will surely sign with another team. Mayo, Gay, Randolph, Thabeet...

hova- - They are the leaders of the squad.

Will start this in a couple of days... still not having internet connection in my house.
