What a stat right there, almost only 4 people are filling the stat sheet on you and hope you improve your bench there waiting for the new trade  too bad you have a tough record out there. Hope you bounce back and still make the playoffs (Y)

Lakers - Blazers trade: Bynum will blaze from now on

Blazers send Channing Frye, Patrick O'Bryant and Sergio Rodriguez to Los Angeles
Lakers send Andrew Bynum, Chris Mihm and Yakhouba Diawara to Portland

ImageImageImage

January 29, 2008

It was a month ago when Portland Trail Blazers announced that they are looking for new reinforcements at the bench area. It looks they've chose tall young player called Andrew Bynum. It's a little bit surprising trading Channing Frye who showed lot of talent when Greg Oden was injured and he had to step up for the Blazers. Also his preformance wasn't bad at all, certainly not for trade. So why did Blazers trade him? Well that's what we've asked Larry Brown

Image
Andrew Bynum:
"Wow, that's a shocker. I really loved L.A., we had a great chemistry goin' on but results weren't speaking for it self. At first I was sure that trade won't be accepted, even Phil said to me that I am staying, but then Portland along Channing offered also Sergio Rodriguez and Patrick O'Bryant. I think that it was Sergio's potencial that swayed their decision to accept the trade. But I'm not here to whine, far from that. Portland is a strong team with a distinctive playing signature. They are good at defense and they run like hell. Also Jarrett is finding everybody with his passes and I can't wait to get some alley-ops from him(laughing) and spend some more time on the court."

Image
Larry Brown:
"I really don't know what's all fuzz about. I know that Channing was an important part of our franchise but we had to made some changes. Since we've traded Martell Webster our defense became much weaker. No offense to Steven but Martell was just all over the court. He was very quick and that's why opponents made a lot of turnovers. Due to lack of scoring we had to trade him for a better scoring player.

But, you have two kind of defenses. Outside and inside defense. Channing is really good at running, scoring and grabbing a few rebounds. But when it comes to stoping with inside the paint, he just can't provide. And that's why we acquired Andrew. He can do all those things that Channing can. But on top of that he's a blocking machine. And that's what we are missing when Rasheed and Greg are on the bench.

We actually wanted Andrew from the begining of the season but we couldn't find any room for him and when Oden got injured we couldn't risk a trade with Channing. Now we think is a perfect time to let Frye go. We are here also building for future.

Andrew was unfortuned this year because of Kwame's good performace. On 40 games he has played just 10 minutes per game. That's awful! We can give him much more than that. At leats 20 minutes per game if he stays healthy."

Blockbuster deal: Richard Jefferson for Michael Redd

ImageImage

February 10, 2008
After two days of negotiating with each others, New Jersey Nets and Milwaukee Bucks finaly agreed on the biggest deal of this year. Richard Jefferson for Michael Redd. Looks like Vince Carter will have much more room because of the stretched defense with Redd on the court. He's a brilliant shooter and he can score from everywhere. On other side, Milwaukee has got a very good player, but will he shine without Jason Kidd? We shall see. Definetly teams to watch for.

Recap: Everybody was hot
It was do or die for Utah because they are slipping further and further away from the playoff spot. But Portland, as the division leaders didn't care about Jazz's problems and start blazing in first and second quarter. Jerry Sloan motivated his players at the half to step up. "Cmon guys, we havo to win, this is our ticket to the playoffs" Sloan shouted to the players at the half. And Utah started to play like in previous seasons, very good. Slowly they were reducing Portland's lead point by point until Boozer hits a tie-breaker jump shot. The crowd exploded, they were going in to overtime.
Sloan was risking with high playing time of his starters and they were all out of gas in the crounch time. Portland came over Utah. Season is almost over for Utah

Larry Brown after the game:
"I'm almost deaf because of Utah fans, they were screaming like hell. Well, finaly after the begining of the season we had 4 consecutive games without anybody being injured. We are really different team with all players being healthy. We lost many games due to injuries. I was very happy with the shots that we made this night. We were 4-8 from the three point lane and thats amazing for us. We are playing better and better and playoffs are just around the corner."

Recap: Blazers provide
After the blockbuster deal Redd/Jefferson, Bucks were playing great. With R.Jefferson they had 8-2 in 10 games and they were ready to knock Blazers out. And so we had a tight game ahead of us. After half Blazers were up by 5. Although Portland never lost his lead, Bucks were allways just behind. But in the end a great game by Oden and season high rebounds for Bynum were enough for comftarble win over hot Bucks.
Image' .Image

Larry Brown after the game:
"We are really getting in the nice rythm. Rasheed, Greg and specialy Andrew did a great job of defending and rebounding under the hoop. It's a big difference now that we have Andrew on our team. The chemistry is great and everybody is doing a good job and that's how we wanna be in playoffs. We have to share the ball to keep all of the players "hot". I hope this run continues."

Hi everyone! :)

i hope some of you still remember this dynasty that i've tried to do.

Today i've read it again since January 12, 2008. I was really mad at myself to not finishing my story properly, since i probably had few people to actually follow this.

I looked at my nba saves files, and there still it was, a Portland dynasty. But unfortunely i've already played entire season.

I will do a full playoff recap/story. Hope you like it guys and sory for the delay :)

The race for tittle has started !

It's been a great year for basketball and the league. Young teams like Charlotte and Portland has made it to the major league - playoffs. It was also a disapointing year, specialy for Denver, New Orleans, Chicago and Miami who didn't make the playoffs.

Blazers were actually extremly lucky with clinching the Northwest's division, because although San Antonio has a better record (52-30) than Portland, the Blazers will have a home court advantage which is very important in playoffs.

Blazers halt Spurs' comeback
Image
An excellent all around game by Brandon Roy

San Antonio Spurs 78 @ Portland Trail Blazers 81

Recap:
What a game. It was a thrilling rolercoaster with ups and downs from both teams. Blazers started hard and had a late 10-0 in first quarter. Stephen Jackson scored 14 points in the first of his 21 in the game. Portland blew San Antonio with 28-17 in first quarter.

But a team like Spurs, defending champions, made a great comeback and allowing only 14 points for Blazers in second quarter. After third quarter Spurs were down only by 2 points. With 9 points in fourth quarter by Brandon Roy Blazers halt Spurs' comeback and won the first game in 1st round of Western Conference against San Antonio Spurs

Image Image

Larry Brown:
" I'm really happy that we were able to hold San Antonio's pressure. Brandon was amazing with his all around performance, he was our glue tonight. We were given a gift with homecourt advantage and we were not intending to blew it away in first game. We have to be even better in game 2 because they will be gunning for us, big time."

Spurs controled overtime
Image
Roy's bucket for tie

San Antonio Spurs 113 @ Portland Trail Blazers 101 OT

Series tied 1-1

Recap:
It was a close game but Spurs never really gave up their lead they had. Greg Oden was injured in the end of the 2nd quarter. He had strong game until then, with 12 points and 8 rebounds. In late 4th, the Rose Garden's crowd lifted Blazers to 8-0 run and Roy tied up the score with quick lay-up. They were going to over time.
Parker errupted in OT with 15 points, nobody could stop him. Spurs win.

Image Image

Larry Brown:
" Ohh, well they got us, at home. I hope Greg will recover soon because we aren't very deep at the bech. This problem must be solved in future for sure, but right now we don't have any other options. Today Spurs showed that they are very serious, they wanna win every game. No matter what happens in San Antonio, we will still have one more game here, at Rose Garden. So this is good, let's just hope Greg returns till' then."

Blow out in Texas
Image

Spurs lead 2-1

Portland Trail Blazers 84 @ San Antonio Spurs 105

Recap:
Only one team was playing tonight, San Antonio Spurs. Blazers were playing like chickens without heads. Only Roy and Wallace were playing on the level that they produced in the regular season, but the rest of the Blazers didn't actually know what they were doing. The crowd demolished them.

Finley scored 19 points from the bench and was one of many keys tonight. Player of the game was again Tim Duncan who scored 27 points, grabbed 12 reboudns and had a 4 blocks and steals. Truly a champs' game.

Image Image

Larry Brown:
" Everybody was expecting this except us. They were hitting threes like crazy and we were able to knock only one three-pointer, which is bad. In last quarter when we were down as much as 30 points I sent our subs to play the rest of the game, because with Greg already being injured we don't want to risk our starting guys to get hurt. Yes, you can say it was a blow out but we will bounce back, we allways do."

Late 4th push for 3rd straight
Image

Spurs lead 3-1

Portland Trail Blazers 88 @ San Antonio Spurs 100

Recap:
Still no signs off Oden being back on the bench, he's still on injured list. Game 4 was very nerve wrecking for both teams. After first half things were almost all even. The biggest lead for San Antonio was 3. Until 4th quarter teams changed lead 20 times and was tied 14 times but than Spurs ran away with 12-0 run and Blazers couldn't do a thing about it. Major part of this was Tony Parker who hit two three points in this run. Crowd went nutts, Spurs won
Image Image

Larry Brown:
" What can I say, our starting guys put hell of a fight against Spurs. It is very obvious that we lack in depth of the bench. I'm afraid it might hurt us in this year's playoffs. It's not that I'm holding anything against our current substitutions but we really need some good 7th and 8th player. This should be our prime goal in off-season. But fortunatly we are not yet in off season, we are still in this series and we will fly home tonight. I expect full support from our loyal fans that will support us in Game 5 and I also expect from our guys to play with the same effort like they did tonight. "
