Rockets blasts through Sacramento despite Mcgrady’s foul trouble
November 8, 2007

SACRAMENTO, Nov. 11 (AP)-- Yao Ming scored 26 points and Steve Francis scored 12 points and added 11 assists and the Houston Rockets crushed the slumping Sacramento Kings 112 to 85 Saturday night.

“I had to step-up my game!”, Webber said. “And I think I did just that. I helped my team win get the win here with T-mac on the bench most of the time. And our bench played well, especially Mike (James).”

Mike James scored 18 points off the bench and Shane Battier had 15 points for the Rockets, who now have won two straight road games.

Tracy Mcgrady scored only 13 points due to foul trouble starting from the first quarter. He also turned the ball over seven times but the Rockets still managed to get the win.

Image
Chris Webber got hurt in the fourth quarter.

Chris Webber had another double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds but he hurt his arm while driving to the hoop early in the fourth quarter. We have yet to received updates on Webber’s condition.

Kevin Martin and Mike Bibby each scored 13 points and both shot terribly from the field, making just 10 of 31 shot attempts. Ron Artest also was not able to find his mark as he shot 3 of 12 from the field for 10 points.

The Rockets (4-2), like they did in their last game in Minnesota put this game away early. They led by 10 points at the end of the first period and never looked back. They outscored the Kings in every quarter except for the third where Sacramento scored 30 against 26 by the Rockets.

Chuck Hayes also got injured in the first quarter where he broke his nose and he never reported back into the game. He will still be available to play in their next game but will be bothered by the injury for 12 days.

Notes: Houston shot 94% from the free throw line hit 33 out of 35 attempts. The Houston starters outscored the Kings starters by 12 points, 72-60. Beno Udrih played his first game with the Kings and tallied 2 rebounds and an assist but failed to score.

NBA Rumors: Saturday, Nov. 11

Image
The Golden State Warriors are looking to add another forward into their lineup according to league
sources. This is really a long shot because they currently have a nice group of backup forwards
with the likes of Mickael Pietrus, Matt Barnes and rookie Brandan Wright.

Another rumor going around is that the Indiana Pacers is looking for some help in their point guard
position. They only have two true point guards in Jamaal Tinsley and Travis Diener.

Chris Webber put on injured list
November 12, Sunday

Image

Sacramento, CA - Chris Webber has been put on the injured list because of a sprained elbow he suffered on their last game against the Houston Rockets. He is expected to be out for 4 days. He would probably miss their next two games against the Minnesota Timberwolves and New Orleans Hornets.

Mikki Moore will replace Webber in the starting lineup. He is expected to provide energy and hustle with Webber’s absence.

Guard Quincy Douby will be elevated into the playing roster. He has yet to play in any game this season.

Spurs forward Bruce Bowen is reportedly contemplating retirement. Rumors are going around that
this will be his final season. Bowen has been the best perimeter defender in the NBA for years now.
We will surely miss those dirty defensive tactics of Bruce Bowen if this news is true.

The Spurs are also rumored to be trading a shooting guard away. We shall have updates on this as
it becomes more clear.

Mike Bibby was pumped up after hitting a trey at the
end of the shot clock. He scored 30 points and handed
out 7 assists.

Bibby gets hot as Kings roll past T-wolves
November 13, 2007

SACRAMENTO, Nov. 13 (AP)-- Sacramento’s backcourt tandem of Mike Bibby and Kevin Martin felt like the team is not playing to their potential, so they did something about it.

Mike Bibby scored 30 points and Kevin Martin had 22 points and 5 rebounds, and the Kings snapped a two-game losing skid with a 114-104 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday night.

During the Kings shoot-around before the game, Bibby told Martin that they need to step up their game especially now that Chris Webber will be out for two games. He said that he feels like they are letting their team down because of their recent shooting slump.

And the backcourt duo did just that Monday night as they combined for 52 points, shooting at 46%, which is much improved than their last two games where they shot a little over 30%.

“We said that we have to carry the scoring load for the team,” Bibby said of the conversation. “Tonight showed how good offensively our team could be.”

Image
Mikki Moore dunking on the fast break. He replaced
the injured Chris Webber on the starting lineup for
the Kings.

Mikki Moore played well as a starter for the first time this season. He had a great game and finished with a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

“With Chris (Webber) out for at least two games, I really felt that I will be depended on to bring some scoring and mostly grabbing those rebounds,” Moore said.

The Kings started well in the first quarter behind the play of forward Mikki Moore who had six straight points to start the game. They had a ten point lead at one point, 26-16. The first quarter ended with the Kings leading by seven points, 26-19.

The Wolves made at a close game in the second as the half ended with just two points separating the two teams, 55-53. The Minnesota attack was led by veteran center Theo Ratliff and Sebastian Telfair who both had 9 points in the second.

At the start of the third it was looking like the visiting team was about to take over the game as they had their first taste of the lead with the score at 60-57. But Mike Bibby had other plans. Bibby had three consecutive steals on inbounds passes and converted three lay-ups. It started the Kings run and the third ended with the Kings leading 96-78.

Minnesota tried to surmount a comeback by cutting the lead down to 8 points early in the fourth period but Sacramento remained calm and executed their offense to get the win.

Shareef Abdur-Rahim played great once again with a double-double off the bench with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Sebastian Telfair had a team high 29 points and Theo Ratliff had a monster game with 18 points and 16 rebounds. Big Al Jefferson also added 16 points for Minnesota.

“They did everything they wanted out there,” Telfair said. “We just weren’t able to defend their scorers, we are a young team and this is a nice learning experience.”

Notes: Sacramento’s 41 points in the third quarter was a season high. ...Kings F Chris Webber did not play in this game and will be a game-time decision on their next game with the Hornets. ... Minnesota shot a poor 35% from the field.

Several league insiders are talking about a rumor going around that the Cleveland Cavaliers and
Seattle Supersonics are talking about a trade. Some are saying that this will not include big names
but you never know.

Another rumor is that the Minnesota Timberwolves are shopping one of their point guards in the
trade block in exchange of a center. It might not include point guard Sebastian Telfair as he
has been playing real well for the T-Wolves.

The Atlanta Hawks GM is reportedly trying to acquire a new center. The Hawks currently have two
centers on their roster,
Lorenzen Wright and Zaza Pachulia. It is not known if they will acquire a new center through a trade
or by signing a free agent.

With regards to the rumor surrounding Aaron Williams’ retirement next season, sources are sure
that he will definitely call it quits. He will surely be missed. Well, maybe not, I am really not sure why
I even included this report in here.

Keep checking back for new rumors surrounding the league.

Sacramento, CA - The Kings trainer, J.T. Alvarez has said that Chris Webber is good to go for their next game at home, against the New Orleans Hornets. Webber was sidelined for one game because of a sprained elbow. After resting it for a few days the pain went away so the coaching staff decided to put him back in the lineup.

Guard Quincy Douby will return to the Kings’ injured list.

to a sprained elbow.

Webber, Martin lift Kings over Hornets
November 15, 2007

SACRAMENTO, Nov. 15 (AP)-- Chris Webber struggled early in the game, missing shots and trying to force things. But he slowly got to his groove and helped the Kings get the win.

Chris Webber scored 18 points and Kevin Martin had a double-double with 25 points and 10 assists, and the Kings improved their record to 4-4 against the New Orleans Hornets on Wednesday night. This is their first back-to-back wins of the season.

Before the game Chris Webber was seen talking with Kings trainer, J.T. Alvarez about his recent injury. Webber said that he wasn’t feeling any pain in his elbow and believes he is 100% ready.

Kevin Martin, who is leading his team in points per game with 25.5, once again top scored for the Kings. He got 25 points and found his open teammates as he had a season high ten assists.

“It was a nice win for us,,” Martin said. “I think I did my job, I hit shots and after they started to pressure me I really felt that I needed to find my teammates and get them the ball.”

The Hornets played really well in the first quarter as they even had a 10 point lead, 21-10, after Peja Stojakovic hit two free throws. But the Sacramento Kings rallied and reduced the lead by two, 23-21, behind their backcourt combo of Mike Bibby and Kevin Martin. The quarter ended 27-23, in favor of the Hornets.

The Hornets still had the lead early in the second quarter as they dominated the offensive boards lead by their big man Tyson Chandler. But the Kings got their game on, as Chris Webber finally came alive scoring 8 straight points as Sacramento finally tasted the lead 41-40. The Kings led by 9 points at halftime.

Sacramento continued to lead throughout the third quarter, as the bench played well. Mikki Moore scored 6 points all in dunks and Shareef Abdur-Rahim had 8 points. Sacramento lead 84-73 heading into the fourth and final period.

The Hornets made a run and they even got the lead back, 87-86. But it was only for a brief time as the Kings stormed back anchored by Chris Webber’s defense as he got 3 blocks in the fourth. The Kings got the lead once again and they never looked back.

“I didn’t feel any pain,” Webber said after being asked about his elbow. “I kinda struggled in the first quarter, forcing the action and all, but I think I played great the rest of the game.”

Shareef Abdur-Rahim played great off the bench with 14 points and 4 rebounds. Reef has been playing great basketball of late, and maybe a good candidate for sixth man of the year.

Tyson Chandler had a monster game with 20 points and 24 rebounds with 13 coming from the offensive boards and Morris Peterson added 21 points. The missing link for the Hornets was Chris Paul as he shot poorly from the field, only hitting 6 out of 16 shots.

“I feel like I let my teammates down,” Chris Paul said. “They played great especially Tyson [Chandler], but unfortunately I had an off-night, hopefully, I could bounce back next game.”

Notes: New Orleans is 5th best in the NBA with a 6-3 record. ...Chris Webber struggled in the first minutes of the game, this is his first game after sitting out a game with a sprained elbow. ...New Orleans shot the ball 104 times but only made 41 of it for a 39% shooting.

Very, very nice update. I see the Kings are rolling now, and its nice to see Webber back as a King and playing well.

One very small suggestion, I think that NBA logo you use before the scoreboard is extremely ugly and bland. Maybe try and find one that looks better? Whatever, it doesn't make that much of a difference and is really just my own opinion. Anyways keep up the solid work (Y)

According to our league sources the Portland Trailblazers are looking to trade a point guard away.
They are currently fully loaded at the point guard position as they have 4 players namely Jarett Jack,
Steve Blake, Sergio Rodriguez and Rudy Fernandez. They are probably gonna part ways with either
Rodriguez or Fernandez as they are not in their rotation right now.

Spurs bounce back after defeat in Phoenix, beats Kings
November 17, 2007

SACRAMENTO, Nov. 17 (AP)-- Tony Parker played an amazing game as he scored 33 points to help San Antonio beat the Sacramento Kings on Friday night.

Parker was back to his usual self, after he scored just 10 points on their last game against the Suns. He abused the Kings defense by driving in the lane and also hitting four three-pointers in the game.

The Spurs had a heart-breaking lost last night in Phoenix as they squandered a seven point lead heading into the fourth and went on to lose the game 87-84.

“This is a big morale booster,” Parker said. “Tonight showed the character of our team, it showed that we can bounce back after a big loss. We need to carry this momentum to help us win some more games on this road trip.”

Manu Ginobili scored 19 points and Bruce Bowen had 18, hitting 2 three-pointers. Tim Duncan and Francisco Elson controlled the boards with 13 and 15 rebounds respectively.

“Everyone did what they’re supposed to do, they did the things we talked about before the game and that’s how we got this victory tonight,” Popovich said.

The Spurs started well in the first quarter behind the aggressiveness of their point guard, Tony Parker. He scored 12 points in the first quarter alone. San Antonio raced on to start the game with a 16-3 run. The first quarter ended with the Spurs leading by nine points, 29-20.

The second quarter was no different as the Spurs even upped their lead to 12 points, 46-34. The Kings rallied to reduce the lead by two, 51-49, but Bruce Bowen nailed a three-pointer and the Spurs finished the second with a 57-51 lead.

The Kings played great at the third as they scored 31 on the quarter. They made the game close even without Mike Bibby who got on foul trouble. They managed to this behind strong bench play from rookie Spencer Hawes and Shareef Abdur-Rahim.

Sacramento got their first taste of the lead in the fourth period, 95-93, with still 4 minutes left on the game clock. It was a see-saw battle until San Antonio pulled away after Tony Parker’s three. The Kings were nailed at 101 as they played horrendous defense by fouling San Antonio’s players everytime down the floor. The Spurs capitalized on the free throws and carried on to win, 117-105.

Chris Webber had a double-double with a team high 18 points and 10 rebounds and Mike Bibby added 16 points. Kevin Martin had an off night scoring only 14 points, which is lower than his 25 points per game average.

Tim Duncan wasn’t offensive minded on this game as he focused on grabbing the rebounds. He only scored 8 points but he grabbed 15 big rebounds.

“We were hungry,” Tim Duncan said. “We really needed this win.”

The Sacramento Kings will now head on a five game east coast swing starting with the Hawks, Wizards, Pacers, Bulls and finishing it up on Milwaukee.

Notes: San Antonio is currently in third place at the Southwest division. ...Spurs attempted 49 free throws which is 19 more attempts than Sacramento. ...Chris Webber was held scoreless on the first half but finished the game with 18 points. ...Sacramento is now 4-4 at home.

It has been confirmed that Kobe Bryant nor any of the Lakers’ shooting guards are in danger of

in the roster is Franciso Elson and they also use Argentinian Francisco Oberto to man the middle.

ATLANTA, Nov. 18 (AP)-- It took two overtimes and a budding star’s career night in order for the Sacramento Kings to beat the struggling Atlanta Hawks on their home floor.

“Man! I can’t believe I just did that,” Martin said after a career-best 55 points. “I knew I could score but I never thought I could go 50 plus points in a game, it feels great.”

Kevin Martin scored a career-high 55 points and Mike Bibby added 26 points and handed out 9 assists and the Kings beat the Atlanta Hawks in double overtime 151-142 on Saturday night, notching their first road win of the season.

“Hopefully this win will help boost our morale during this road trip,” Sacramento coach Reggie Theus said.

Martin made 21 of 38 shots and added eight rebounds and four steals. Sacramento ran its offense through Martin during the crucial second overtime, and the blossoming star responded by hitting key shots, finding open teammates or getting to the free throw line.

Martin’s only blemish is his six turnovers and only hitting 1 of 4 from three point country, but still his team was able to get the much needed win.

“As long as he continued to do good, we were going to try and continue going to him,” Theus said.

Veteran guard Anthony Johnson led Atlanta with 28 points, and high-flying forward Josh Smith had 21 points and 2 blocks.

Hawks’ main scorer Joe Johnson had 18 points but fouled out during the first overtime. Claxton added 16 and Al Horford scored 13. Atlanta has now lost nine of their last ten games.

“He has a chance to be in the same conversation as Tracy Mcgrady, Kobe Bryant, Lebron James,” Joe Johnson said of Kevin Martin.
“He is going to be a great thing in this league.”

The fourth quarter was a tight battle with the two teams exchanging leads. The two teams were tied at 116 after Josh Smith hit a jumper in the right elbow of the floor. Sacramento failed to score on the other end which gave the Hawks the last shot but Anthony Johnson missed on his attempt on the free throw line.

In the first overtime, two key players from both squads fouled out, Joe Johnson for the Hawks and Artest for the Kings. With 29.9 seconds remaining Chris Webber got fouled and hit two free throws to give Sacramento the lead 132-129. Atlanta went to Josh Smith and he delivered. He completed a three-point play to tie the game. Mike Bibby had the chance to finish the game but came up short on his jumpshot.

And then Kevin Martin took over for the Kings. Martin scored ten points in the second overtime to help the Kings get the win. He attacked aggressively and he got to the foul line. After breaking the lead at 134, Sacramento clamped down on their defense and it was enoughgot them the win.

Notes: Atlanta is now 1-8 on their home floor. ...Three Hawks players had a double-double; Horford, Lorenzen Wright and Marvin Williams. ...Brad Miller grabbed a season-high 20 rebounds. ...Ron Artest fouled out early in the first overtime.

Gilbert Arenas leads Wizards past Kings

WASHINGTON, Nov. 20 (AP)-- Gilbert Arenas wasn’t much like himself at the start of the season, just averaging 20 points a night, it is not sitting well with Agent Zero.

He certainly had things figured out Monday night.

Arenas showed more spring in his step and more accuracy with his shot, finishing with 37 points, 9 assists and six rebounds to lead the Washington Wizards to a 102-95 victory over the Sacramento Kings.

The All-Star guard has not been himself lately. But he decided he needed to get a feel for the basketball, so he went to the gym to shoot Sunday night, then hoisted up 100 3-pointers before tipoff Monday.

“I was coming to games cold turkey, wasn't even getting the ball up, just banking off my natural ability, and I was struggling,” Arenas said. “My handle wasn't as crisp.”

Deshawn Stevenson calling for the ball. He was
huge down the stretch hitting some clutch jumpers.

Deshawn Stevenson scored 21 points and Antawn Jamison had 14 points and 7 rebounds for the Wizards, while Kevin Martin led the Kings with 18 points. Both teams have identical records (5-5) at the start of the game, after the win the Wizards are now one game above .500.

“We've got to make some adjustments,” said Sacramento’s Chris Webber who had 14 points and 13 rebounds. “We're a little concerned right now, but we don't feel like the year is over.”

Arenas entered Wednesday shooting only 35.6 percent from downtown. But he was on target against Indiana, going 5-for-8.

He also directed things well, getting his teammates involved in the flow of the offense. That, of course, is what thrilled coach Eddie Jordan.

“He has grown,” Jordan said. “He has definitely matured.”

In the last 2 minutes of the fourth quarter, Arenas made a 3-pointer, stole the ball twice from Mike Bibby at the other end, fed Deshawn Stevenson two times for an open a jumper, then drove hard to the basket and drew a foul with 50 seconds left. Those free throws proved to be the nail in the coffin as Washington finished it, 102-95.

“He seemed more calm and more patient than the first games of the season,” fellow Wizard Antawn Jamison said. “We all knew it was going to take some time for him to get it going and to get comfortable, and now you're starting to see signs of that.”

Washington was booed during its previous home game, a 33-point loss to the Houston Rockets on Saturday that dropped the Wizards to 4-5 at home to start the season.

With this win against the Sacramento Kings, the Wizards have a more respectable record at home (5-5).

“We don't have any rhythm offensively tonight,” Kevin Martin said. “We had a great game last night at Atlanta where it seems like everything was going in. Whatever has happened since then, I'm not sure.”

The two teams will meet again on December 18 at Sacramento.

Notes: Gilbert Arenas’ 37 points was a season high. ...Washington is now second in the Southeast division with the Orlando Magic leading the way. ... Sacramento was horrible from downtown where they shot .174 percent.

NBA Rumors: Monday, Nov. 20

Image

Sources are saying that Heat superstar Dwyane Wade is happy with the Miami Heat’s current talent
situation. Well, that might be true because five of their players are averaging double digits in
points. Maybe Wade should think about his own talent as he is just averaging a mere 16 points
per contest which is third best in his team. The Flash better be quick to get his act together as Miami
only have four wins in nine outings.

The Utah Jazz has been rumored to moving a center to another team. They currently have four
centers on their roster namely Mehmet Okur, Jarron Collins, Kyrylo Fesenko and Rafael Araujo.
It is still not known which player is on the block.
