Tough losses to Golden State and Seattle (Close games... I hate losing those especially knowing that a free throw or jumper here and there could have won the game).

Your inability to hit three is really starting to show. You're going to need a lot more offensive firepower from beyond the arc if you're going to win, especially with Jim O'Brien's bombs-away style of playing offence.

Yeah, I totally killed the Raps, who've been up and down this year. I think they at about .500 right now. I even made some lineup changes for Toronto to try to get them winning more, making Joey Graham backup SG so that Kapono gets enough playing time, but they're still crazy inconsistent. They either win by 20 or lose by 20.

And yeah, my 3 point difficulties are really starting to hurt. I can deal with it for the games I play, because I just dropped my shooting sliders to make the game harder, and it'll just take me some time to adjust. But the sim games are really aggravating. Barbosa constantly shooting like 1-5 from downtown. It sucks.

Without giving away anything, I'm about 1 month ahead of what I've posted so far, and the CPU offered me a trade I couldn't resist. It wasn't for a 3 point specialist, in fact my 3 point shooting is probably worse following the trade, but once you see what it was, I think you'll agree that there was no way I could pass it up. No way.

 man the San Antonio v Seattle score makes my eyes hurt! 140-74?!?

so-so week for the Pacers; looks like they can use a little more consistency or a definite leader-type 'cause i don't think Tinsley cuts it

ahem.. cough... Arenas?... cough...

kbryant, I use Chris23's simulation fix. Here's link to the thread. If the d/l link is down in the first post, someone else uploaded it to another site on page 2.

BoomDizzle, that SAvsSEA game was pretty ridiculous. And there's no way I'm trading for Arenas. July Jones will develop into that role. Maybe not this season, but soon. Also, I've already made another trade, and it pretty much makes any other big deals unlikely. And yes, I do plan on doing multiple seasons with this dynasty.

Oh man, that trade sounds like its something. Better get the dynasty back to speed because now I'm curious as to what trade you've been offered.

Sorry guys, it's gonna take little while. These recaps don't write themselves you know! :P

kbryant, I don't know. It seems like a wash, really. Gasol doesn't give you anything KG doesn't, and same with Pierce and Allen.

MONTH IN REVIEW - NOVEMBER

POWER RANKINGS

1. SAN ANTONIO SPURS
(12-4)

The defending champs are off to another great start, not just winning games, but absolutely blowing out their opponents on a nightly basis. While they remain one of the league's best defensive teams, this year they've also been scoring like Phoenix. Much, if not all, of the Spurs offensive improvement can attributed to Tim Duncan's career-high 29.5 points per game, and Tony Parker's emergence as one of the elite offensive guards in the league, also posting a career-best 25.1 points per game.

2. CLEVELAND CAVALIERS (12-3)
The Cavs currently own the league's best record. Though LeBron's numbers are mostly down, the improved team depth acquired with Earl Boykins and Ruben Patterson has made Cleveland not only one of the teams to beat in the East, but also early favorites for a repeat trip to the finals.

3. DALLAS MAVERICKS (11-4)
Though Eddie Jones has not put up great or even good numbers, is presence on defense has made a huge impact. This is a visibly more confident Mavericks team than the one that looked so shaken in last year's playoff loss to Golden State. Devin Harris' emergence as a starting caliber point guard has also helped, allowing Jason Terry to slide over to shooting guard.

4. BOSTON CELTICS (10-4)
Like San Antonio, Boston has a nasty habit of blowing teams out. However, they struggled slightly in closing out close games, but that is only a minor concern when you can usually finish off opponents by half time.

5. PHOENIX SUNS (10-5)
When Jermaine O'Neal first arrived in Phoenix, he was slotted in at power forward. The team went 4-3 in its first 7 games before switching Amare back to the 4 and putting O'Neal in at center. Phoenix has since gone 6-2, and are beginning to look more like the force everyone expected. Grant Hill has also wrestled starting shooting guard duties from Raja Bell, and the team has gone 4-1 since the move.

6. HOUSTON ROCKETS (10-5)
With Tracy McGrady playing perhaps the most inspired basketball of his career, the Rockets are looking quite good. Steve Francis has embraced the role of 3rd option, and has in fact flourished, putting up 16-5-5 in the first month.

7. MIAMI HEAT (10-5)
Wade and Shaq have been on a mission to remind the basketball world that when the 2 of them are healthy, they can still be a force. Shaq in particular has been exceeding expectations, returning to his 20-10 form of old.

8. DETROIT PISTONS (9-6)
The Pistons are a better team than their record indicates. Having gone 1-2 with Mutumbo out of the lineup, with both losses coming against sub .500 teams, Detroit could have an 11-4 record if healthy.

9. NEW ORLEANS HORNETS (10-5)
The Hornets have been the surprise of the season so far. With a healthy Peja and the addition of MoPete, the Hornets are enjoying the first of what could be many winning seasons to come. Playoffs are all but guaranteed if this squad stays healthy.

10. CHICAGO BULLS (8-6)
The Bulls have not been as impressive as many pundits predicted, but much of that is due to Ben Wallace's early season injury. Though Olowokandi has done a good job filling in, the team has gone .500 during that stretch. One would have to think they'll be much better with Wallace back in the lineup.

11. NEW JERSEY NETS (8-6)
The Nets have also been decimated by injuries, losing both Richard Jefferson and James Posey for significant stretches. With Jason Kidd having another unbelievable season, expect the Nets to gain some ground in the East.

12. UTAH JAZZ (9-8)
A difficult early season schedule has seen the Jazz struggle somewhat. Utah has only played 5 games against sub .500 teams, but gets 10 in December. Utah has also been without Mehemt Okur, who should help provide wins when he returns.

13. GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS (9-7)
Golden State has absorbed the loss of Jason Richardson rather well. Mikael Pietrus is enjoying a career year, while rookies Brendan Wright and Marco Belinelli, and vets Matt Barnes, Monta Ellis, and Kelenna Azubuike have all contributed substantially.

14. MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES (8-5)
The Wolves have also been a surprising team, currently leading the Northwest division. They jumped out to a fast 8-1 start, perhaps due to youthful energy, but have since lost 4 straight. Reality seems destined to set in for this club. Though they will certainly not be a bottom dweller, it'll be a battle for them to make the playoffs.

15. WASHINGTON WIZARDS (7-7)
In effort to shore up their point guard depth, the Wiz signed Raul Lopez. That's about all you can say about this team. They're a long way from contending, but Arenas/Butler/Jamison assures near .500 ball and a 7th or 8th playoff seed.

16. MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES (7-8)
Even with Pau Gasol and Mike Conley injured, Memphis is only 1 game under .500. Miller and Stoudemire have been playing out of their minds, and the addition of Darko has helped soften the loss of Pau. When this team gets healthy they will challenge for a playoff spot.

17. INDIANA PACERS (8-8)
The Pacers have also surprised many people around the NBA. Jim O'Brien has managed to successfully integrate a whole crop of new players, and he seems to be getting the most out of them. Rookie July Jones has also emerged as a big part of Indiana's success, at times carrying the team.

18. LOS ANGELES LAKERS (6-9)
The Lakers have played a tough schedule, one that has somewhat inflated their loss total. This team is .500 ball club, it just hasn't shown in their record yet.

19. LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS (6-8)
All the pieces are there for the Clippers, they just haven't been able to put it together.

20. ATLANTA HAWKS (6-7)
The Hawks have stolen a few games they had absolutely no business winning due to superb play from Joe Johnson. It is questionable if he can keep up this level of play all season, but if he does, Atlanta could make a steady climb up the power rankings.

21. DENVER NUGGETS (5-8)
You think Denver is regretting trading away Nene? Not that Kenyon Martin has struggled, or that Mike Dunleavy hasn't performed, but the Nuggets, just keep on losing. There is speculation that something resembling Phil Jackson's triangle-offense might be implemented, with Dunleavy playing point-forward, but at this point that seems far fetched.

22. TORONTO RAPTORS (6-10)
Injuries have slowed the Raptors. Bargnani has missed time, Garbo has missed time, and TJ Ford has played through 2 minor injuries. It remains to be seen if Sam Mitchell can get this group back on track.

23. SACRAMENTO KINGS (5-8)
The Kings shipped Mikki Moore off the Portland for Steve Blake, but it has made little impact. The Kings continue to struggle, and it seems like this team could implode sooner rather than later.

24. PHILADELPHIA 76ERS (5-9)
Troy Murphy has helped this team, but so far not enough. Granted it is still a young and developing core, many pundits expected more of Philly after acquiring Murphy.

25. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS (5-10)
Charlotte has struggled to find any kind of consistency this season. Adam Morrison has adapted well in his second year, and Sean May has flourished in a starting role, but something is still lacking in what should be a winning recipe.

26. PORTLAND TRAILBLAZERS (5-11)
Greg Oden is having one hell of a time adjusting to the NBA. Though he proven to be a good rebounder and shot blocker, his 31% field goal shooting is absolutely atrocious. Word is that the Blazers are none too happy about Oden's performance, and he may be benched in favor of LaMarcus Aldridge.

27. ORLANDO MAGIC (5-11)
The Magic started the season with a 2-11 record. Rashard Lewis' scoring average has dropped to 18.8 points per game. Dwight Howard's offensive game has not improved. The Magic are bad. Very bad.

28. MILWAUKEE BUCKS (4-10)
After all that contract holdout drama over the summer, Yi Jianlian has taken the league by storm with a monstrous 2.2 points per game! If the Bucks didn't have Michael Redd, they'd be beaten by NBDL teams.

29. NEW YORK KNICKS (4-13)
New York, say hello to the draft lottery. I assume you 2 are familiar.

30. SEATTLE SUPERSONICS (3-13)
Though Seattle currently owns the league's worst record, many people are now questioning Portland's decision to take Oden over Durant. KD is the Sonics second leading scorer, with 16 per game, while Greg Oden doesn't seem to be able to throw a rock in the ocean.

PLAYERS OF THE MONTH

EAST PLAYER:
Kevin Garnett - BOS, PF (20.5 PPG, 10.9 RPG, 5.7 APG, 3.29 SPG, 2.14 BPG)
WEST PLAYER: Tim Duncan - SAS, PF (29.5 PPG, 10.3 RPG, 3.2 APG, 2.25 BPG, 1.81 SPG)
EAST ROOKIE: July Jones - IND, PG (17.8 PPG, 4.4 APG, 3.5 RPG, 1.25 SPG, 0.25 BPG)
WEST ROOKIE: Kevin Durant - SEA, SF (16.1 PPG, 6.9 RPG, 1.4 APG, 2.00 SPG, 1.06 BPG)

RACE TO THE MVP

1. Tim Duncan - SAS, PF (29.5 PPG, 10.3 RPG, 3.2 APG, 2.25 BPG, 1.81 SPG)

Tim Duncan is having perhaps his best season, posting career-high in points (29.5), field goal % (.603), and steals (1.81). The Spurs have the best record in the West, and seem primed to repeat as champions for the first time.

2. Kobe Bryant - LAL, SG (35.6 PPG, 3.7 RPG, 5.6 APG, 2.33 SPG, 0.6 BPG)
Kone is on pace to post career-highs in points, by 0.02, and 3-point % (.437). He has single-handedly kept the Lakers afloat, and if they ever start to win games, Kobe becomes almost instant MVP. His 4 games of 40+ points is the most in the league, as is his 30+ points in 12 games.

3. Carlos Boozer - UTA, PF (23.5 PPG, 11.6 RPG, 2.6 APG, 1.94 SPG, 1.00 BPG)
Though his numbers are not as impressive as some others on this list, he has carried Utah since Okur's injury, against tough competition. Boozer has established himself as a prime crunch time scorer, leading many late 4th quarter charges by Utah.

4. Tracy McGrady - HOU, SG (30.6 PPG, 3.7 RPG, 7.2 APG, 2.47 SPG, 0.07 BPG)
T-Mac is posting career-highs in steals (2.47), assists (7.2), and field goal % (.461). His 51-point game stands as tops so far this year, and he has become as vital to Houston's success as Kobe is to LA's. Don't let the presence of Yao and Francis fool you, this T-Mac's team, maybe now more so than ever.

5. Kevin Garnett - BOS, PF (20.5 PPG, 10.9 RPG, 5.7 APG, 3.29 SPG, 2.14 BPG)
Anyone who thought KG had lost a step in the last few years simply hadn't been paying close enough attention. His numbers this year on the new-look, powerhouse Celtics reflect that. He has become the leader of that team, one that could finally land him a ring.

6. LeBron James - CLE, SF (24.7 PPG, 6.7 RPG, 5.8 APG, 1.82 SPG, 1.14 BPG)
Though LeBron's numbers are the lowest since his rookie season, he has lead his Cavs to the best record in the league. Some of his decline in production can also be attributed to the added depth of the Cavs roster this season, lessening the need for LeBron to post triple-doubles for his team to win.

7. Dirk Nowitzki, DAL, PF (27.1 PPG, 8.5 RPG, 3.8 APG, 1.40 SPG, 1.72 BPG)
Nowitzki is another star posting a career-high in points (27.1), as well as field goal % (.559), and 3 -point % (.450). He is once again leading the Mavs to another terrific start to the season. The true test of both Dirk and Dallas, though, will be in the playoffs. Can they overcome their playoff demons of the past 2 years?

8. Steve Nash, PHO, PG (19.8 PPG, 9.0 APG, 2.4 RPG, 1.25 SPG, 0.4 BPG)
It's just business as usual for Nash. Incredibly efficient offense (.502 FG%), unparalleled vision, and an unmatched leadership ability, all have the Suns rolling once again.

9. Dwyane Wade, MIA, SG (28.6 PPG, 5.9 APG, 2.6 RPG, 2.00 SPG, 0.8 BPG)
Wade's off-season surgery doesn't seem to have slowed him down at all. With most people predicting a precipitous drop for the Heat, Wade, along wih Shaq, have Miami playing their best ball since their championship run.

10. Elton Brand, LAC, PF (21.2 PPG, 11.9 RPG, 4.1 APG, 2.79 BPG, 1.51 SPG)
Brand is stuck in the same predicament as his Lakers counterpart Kobe Bryant: fantastic individual numbers, but minimal team success, does not an MVP make. Anyway you look at it, though, EB is having an outstanding season.

Honorable Mention: Ray Allen, Gilbert Arenas, Joe Johnson

ROOKIE RANKINGS

1. Kevin Durant - SEA, SF (16.1 PPG, 6.9 RPG, 1.4 APG, 2.00 SPG, 1.06 BPG)

As expected, Durant is the front-runner for ROY, already showing signs of his vast potential and versatility. He is 2nd among rookies in points per game, 2nd in rebounds, 1st in steals, and 2nd in blocks.

2. July Jones - IND, PG (17.8 PPG, 4.4 APG, 3.5 RPG, 1.25 SPG, 0.25 BPG)
Indiana Jones leads all rookies in points per game, and is 2nd in assists. Though he has been slightly outplayed by Durant, Jones looks like he may have even more potential than the #2 overall pick. He has already displayed better fundamentals at both ends of the courts, and is a better crunch-time scorer than Durant. Once he starts knocking down the 3 ball consistently, Jones could become a perennial All-Star.

3. Mike Conley Jr. - MEM, PG (14.6 PPG, 5.3 APG, 3.1 RPG, 1.75 PPG, 0.25 BPG)
For some reason, I think the Hawks are regretting not taking Conley with the #3 pick. His 5.3 assists per game is tops among all rookies, and he is 3rd in points. His shooting percentages leave something to be desired though: .375 field goals, .158 3-pointers, .615 free throws. He'll have to bump those up to become a solid player in this league.

4. Greg Oden - POR, C (9.5 PPG, 7.8 RPG, 1.2 APG, 1.75 BPG, 1.05 SPG)
Greg Oden has not yet shown why so many, including Blazers management, were so high on him. He's a good rebounder and shot blocker, but his man-on-man defense leaves something to be desired, and his filed goal % (.331), is simply unacceptable for a starting center.

5. Javaris Crittenton - LAL, PG (5.1 PPG, 2.7 APG, 1.5 RPG, 0.75 SPG, 0.2 BPG)
Crittenton has done a solid job backing up Fisher in LA. Though his numbers aren't overwhelming, they are solid, and he has been hitting his shots at .504 clip.

Honorable Mention: Al Horford, Joakim Noah, Corey Brewer

PLAYER TRANSACTIONS

10/30/07:
Indiana trades Jermaine O'Neal, Jeff Foster, and David Harrison to Phoenix for Boris Diaw, Leandro Barbosa, and PJ Brown.
11/01/07: Indiana trades Mike Dunleavy, Andre Owens, and Kareem Rush to Denver for Nene and Linas Kleiza.
11/05/07: Milwaukee signs guard Eddie Gill.
11/05/07: Memphis signs forward Dominic McGuire.
11/07/07: Charlotte signs guard Julius Hodge.
11/08/07: Indiana trades Troy Murphy to Philadelphia for Thaddeus Young.

Exellent team/MVP/rookie rankings man, absolutely amazing. I really like the effort that has been put into following the entire league rather than focusing on your own and it looks awesome. I'm loving the fact that my man Javaris Crittenton is in the top 5 even though his stats are OK at best.

I also wanted to do a rookie rankings in my dynasty, but unfortunately none of my rookies get any significant playing time so I decided to trash that idea. I'm glad to see the numbers the rookies put up are realistic and slightly below expectations, because I think there are a lot of slightly overhyped players in this draft (ZOMG LIEK KEVIN DURANTZ SCOREZ 25 pts PAH GAMEZ!1!11onesons).

Hahaha. I jst realized that in my power rankings I referenced a trade that actually took place in December. I guess I'll just leave it. So if anyone was wondering why the Mikki Moore-Steve Blake trade wasn't in the monthly transactions, it's cause it hasn't happened yet.

kbryant, I use the new camera from the SUM v.2 update, and I freaking love it.

OK, so I did my week 6 recap, hit submit, and then the post never showed up. So, as I've been thinking about tweaking the format a little bit, I'd like to ask you guys what you think about my idea.

Basically, the daily recaps are taking long time, so I'm thinking of just posting the scores and significant stats from other games, but not doing any sort of write up. Pacers games will be handled the same. So what do you think?

Please let me know ASAP. I want to get week 6 up really soon.

Cheers and thanks,

Thank you, kbryant for your response. But where's everyone else? It's_asdf, BoomDizzle, where you guys at? I need some opinions, you dynasty junkies! :P

Honoestly, I would like to get week 6 up soon, but I don't want to do it before I know what the few people who actually read this think about my plan to just give scores and stats for non-Pacer games.

Haha, my bad, I've been busy lately so I haven't up on the dynasty section lately.

In my opinion, do what you feel makes you comfortable. If you think condensing the information is better for you, then by all means do it! There's no point in doing write-ups if you find it tedious. It's your dynasty, do what you want with it because I'm behind whatever you do 100%. I'm sure it will still be kick ass regardless.

And kbryant, I view your dynasty, but I don't necessarily reply that often. There are a lot more people viewing the dynasty than it shows in the actual replies you get. Keep your chin up about it.

No worries, It's asdf, I was just fooling around. And I just wanted some feedback. You don't want to alienate your audience, you know. And I didn't want the dynasty to suffer, so I just thought I'd check opinions. I don't have a problem doing the comprehensive daily recaps, I just thought it might be more enjoyable for everyone if this thing moved a little bit quicker.

kbrynat, you at least have to show us how the playoffs went down.
