Lakers interested in Ron Artest
The Lakers seem to be interested in Ron Artest of the Sacramento Kings. Source tells us that the Lakers are looking for a SF that can not only shoot, but defend as well. It is possible Mike Miller, Jordan Farmar, Brian Cook can be traded to acquire this deal. It is likely their draft picks will be included as well. When interviewers asked the Lakers GM how he felt about acquiring a player like Ron Artest, he commented, "I am trying my best to get him on our team. He will be perfect for the team because he is such a great defender and can also shoot the ball."

im working on it.. but the kings are denying all trade offers :/
who u think i shoudl offer for artest to make this trade as realistic as possible.. any suggestions?
i was hoping 1st,2nd draft picks, farmar or vujacic or karl, cook, and mike miller for artest and williamson.. but they keep rejecting it (i hope they accept it later on in the season before the deadline since there will be high demand for draft picks). u think this is realistic?? if not then let me know whats a good offer for artest

If you really want Artest that bad you can always them via dbf editing.

Well just because one player is rated higher than the other does not deem the trade as unrealistic. Judging from a few boxscores that I have seen, Miller has been one of your top scorers and has averaged around 20 game, correct? Well Artest's image has obviously taken a hit this year and his trade value definitely is at a low point, so trading away Miller and perhaps a few other fillers for Artest via DBF editing doesn't sound too far fetched if the ratings themselves don't add up. Ratings don't always showcase someone's value in NBA Live, it's how he is performing statisically that should really determine the realism of a trade.
Good luck getting Artest through in game trading. If they rejected that lofty offer that you proposed I think you should explore other options.

yea miller is scoring over 20 pts a game and hits alot of 3's.. artest is my main target hopefully they change their mind after the countless # of offers i send them.
let me know if u guys got a suggestion on who i should offer for him
Thu Aug 23, 2007 9:25 am
I don't know who you should offer, but you'll probably need to take back some scrubs from Sacramento as well. Like, if you do a 3 for 2 trade, you could maybe go:
Miller
Walton
Vujacic/Cook/whatever crappy guy they want most
for
Artest
Corliss Williamson or Kenny Thomas, or Garcia or some other scrub
Something like that should work, I think, provided salaries match.

alrite ill give it a go
sux to see walton leave if they accept trade
edit: i tried miller, walton, cook for artest and williamson but they rejected it

Well, Artest might be out of the question, for now. Maybe try for Shane Battier from Houston. They might be more likely to move him, as they have 2 other serviceable small forwards in Bonzi Wells and Kirk Snyder. Battier just as good a defender as Artest, and I think a slightly better 3 point shooter.
Or, maybe try the try with other guys besides Walton/Cook and Wiliamson. Try taking Sacramento's absolute worst player, see if that works.

i tried bynum and crittenton and 1st draft pick along with mike miller and luke walton.. didnt work either
and i dont know why but i rather have artest than battier
i could trade with a different team then trade that player for artest.. not sure who though. maybe if i had lamar then this trade could be possible
edit: nvm guys i got it figured out

The Lakers do an unusual tradeback with the Memphis Grizzlies
The Laker's GM, Mitch Kupchak, was desperate in making another trade before the February deadline. The Lakers owner and Kupchak both agreed that they should acquire Ron Artest. After countless offers to the Sacramento Kings, they were denied offer after offer. The King's GM told the Lakers they wanted more than Mike Miller and commented, "If you still had Lamar, then we might be interested." So Kupchak decided to talk with the Grizzlies GM in an attempt to get Odom back. The Grizzlies agreed to give Lamar Odom and Andre Brown for Laker's 1st round draft pick, Mike Miller, and Brian Cook.

The Lakers welcome Ron Artest
It was a hectic few nights for Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak. His effort to get Ron Artest on their team finally paid off. After gaining back Lamar Odom from the Memphis Grizzlies, he called up the King's GM to negotiate a trade. After a long discussion, they came to a conclusion. The Kings agreed to give Ron Artest and Corliss Williamson in return for Lamar Odom, Javaris Crittenton, and Luke Walton.

not sure that 'takeback/tradeout' for Odom is any more realistic than some other suggestions but hey - you got Artest so play ball!
look forward to seeing how he and Kobe will work together... or not?
