Sadly, the Lakers did not make it to the playoffs once again. The team ended with a score of 40 wins and 42 losses.

The Rockets sweep the Raptors in the Finals and are the new Champions

Retired Players:
Bruce Bowen
Bob Sura
Sam Cassell
Shaq
Othello Harrington
Brent Barry
Robert Horry

For our first round pick (13th overall pick) we picked up a SF named P. Souza (64 overall) and a PG named E. Lynch (58 overall) for our second round pick.

Here is our new player rotation:

TEAM NOTES:
-Our team is getting along much better this season.
-We hired 3 assistants: A+ in offense, A- in offense, A in defense.
-We are going to train Andrew Bynum and Paul Millsap throughout the season.

Sorry to hear about the playoffs, kbryant...but you are shaping up for a run next year.

2 quick things:

1. I liked your move to get Tinsley. I've played him in Live '05, not '07, but I know in '05 he was a great pass-first PG who could take over games if needed. His speed was great, his passing and dribbling were great, and his steals were great. A nice PG to have when you want to focus your dollars elsewhere. I also liked your Rasheed Wallace deal...he does everything, from blocks to 3's. But I was wondering about your moving Childress. In '05, he was a fast, slashing, take it to the hoop type of SG...worth having. But you moved him for Shawne Williams and Keith McLeod. In your version of Live, is Childress a lesser talent? What made you want to move him? Also, I noticed you initially wanted to focus on training Bynum, but then shifted to wanting to train Millsap instead, and now you are focused on training both. I haven't played with Millsap...why are you splitting training time with Millsap when Bynum (your starting C) could use a lot of development?

2. I tried adjusting my sliders. Before I did so, Kobe's 87 speed was only surpassed by a few other faster players, so usually Kobe could outrace anybody when he got the ball ahead on a break. But once I changed the sliders, Kobe was being outrun by slower Charlotte players who caught up to him on the break. Have you found the same issue with Kobe on your dynasty? Is it a bug or is there a slider change that would allow player speed to be more appropriate (where a player with an 87 speed can outrun a player with an 80 speed)?

How can your team not make the playoffs? Bad luck I suppose
I would try trading Wallce for a better small foward and developing millsap
or trading wallace for a cheaper power foward and small foward (who is better than millsap, who is really a PF)

To asqsjb:

Why did I move Childress? Is Childress a lesser talent in 07?
-I traded away Childress because I just dont like him as a player.. and i wanted to lower my cap space. No Childress is not a lesser talent.

Why did I shift from training Bynum to training Millsap? Why am I splitting training time with Millsap when Bynum can use a lot of development?
-I decided to train Millsap a little because it's his first year and he can develop into a decent player, judging him from his real life stats in Utah Jazz. Also he is my starting SF and I need him to fill that spot, since i benched Evans as backup.

Is Kobe being outrun by slower players?
-I don't think Kobe as been outrun by slower players; maybe its different in your version. The sliders is better than the default because now Kobe doesn't make almost every 3 pointer. Now he rarely makes them unless he is wide open.

Our team didnt make it to the playoffs because our team chemistry was not so good, due to many trades that occurred.

Thx for the suggestion on trading Wallace (im thinking about doing that because he may retire next year). Any suggestions on who i should get in return for wallace? Boozer maybe?

I am also thinking about trading away Evans and Vujacic because they cost too much and they are only 71 overall. Any suggestions?

Gotcha, kbryant. How much is Childress going for in your version? In '05, he's in a 4 year deal at $2.49M/yr. I guess with Kobe in place, Childress would be a backup one way or the other, so having a $2.49M backup SG could be tough on the cap.

Makes sense with Millsap. I must have missed the part of the chain (which I found later) where you mentioned using Millsap at SF. So it makes sense to split your development efforts among as many young starters as you have in the starting lineup at any given time.

It was funny about Kobe and the speed. Logic would say that if Kobe was faster than almost everyone when game speed is up at 50, then he will still be faster than almost everyone when the game speed slider is lowered to 42 or so...but everyone would be slower, just proportionately. The fact that now Kobe enables others who are slower to catch up to him is a bit strange and goes contrary to logic. As for the 3's, Kobe does have a decent rating on 3's, but it is interesting how the sliders change impacts his ability to hit the 3 now. I'll have to play a few more games with the new sliders to see the impact firsthand.

With default settings i can win a game any time, but with pdubs, it always ends in overtime or barely win, or loss.

childress's salary cap is probably same as in 05. but i jus didnt want him on my team

any suggestions on trading away evans? wallace? vujacic? for who??

Big important announcement:

The team has made a big trade. We decided to trade Rasheed Wallace to the Utah Jazz for Carlos Boozer. This will bring a younger PF to our team for a brighter future and cut some cap space. We believe we made the right decision in trading Rasheed Wallace for Carlos Boozer.

Hmm interesting trade, what is boozer making vs. what wallace was making?
And what is boozer's rating in the game, did you patch it at all, because in the default way he is like low 70s in nba 07? I was thinking like maybe trading wallace for Bargaini or something? But good luck in your dynasty! definitely going to keep following this

Boozer is making 12.30M while Wallace is making 13.68M.

Boozer's rating is 82 overall.. im using the NLSC roster patch.

I rather have Boozer than Bargaini lol (boozer is playing excellent in the playoffs right now)

o well i was saying maybe you shoulda traded wallace for bargaini and peterson, bargaini is already a 77, much cheaper plus he will become very if u train him, and peterson would give u a better small foward than millsap w/e
anyways u gonna recap any games soon? haha looking foward to it

Unhappy with trade coz i love Wallaces game not only because he plays for Detroit but when he played for Portland to because now u don't have the perimeter threat he offers although Boozer is a great player who will add a good rebounder and great scorer

BTW: Nbarulez stop spamming if u have three things to say send it in one message instead of three

lol

well.. im pretty sure wallace will retire this year (he has 1 year contract left.. and hes 13 or 14 year pro)

so i got boozer instead who will be a great future for the lakers (6 years pro i think).. and boozer is an all-star and will develop even more

boozers salary is also lower than most all-star power forwards and was less than wallace.

overall, i think i made a great move, although i do lose the perimeter threat that wallace had and his blocks

i hired 3 assitants.. A+ in offense, A- in offense, and A in defense.. im wondering who i should train with these 3 assistants.. all 3 on bynum? any suggestions would be nice

bad trade.. wallace was a good addition for kobe coz he can stretch the defense with his range.. which will open up the lane for kobe or jamaal.. and wallace is as strong as boozer down the post..

I'd put the training into Bynum. With focused training, you could have a monster center on your team for years. Defense in the paint is key.

Nice win over Indiana, pretty nice month. I was wondering how CPU makes so many trades, especially with pretty good players, is it some patch or it is the way it is.
