Arenas' 7 Steals Fuels Eighth Straight Win

December 29, 2006 | Raptors (3-6) @ Warriors (7-0)

Image 21 24 23 20 88

Oakland, CA - Another day, another win for the still-perfect Warriors. New acquisitions Rebert Horry and Michael Finley had decent debuts. Horry scored 10 points on perfect shooting, while Finley had 9 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists, but struggled with 3-10 shooting.

The game was all Warriors from the start. Golden State took an 8 point lead after the first quarter, and led by 12 at the half. Toronto had a nice run in the third, but never took the lead. The game was clinched by the Warriors' deep bench in the final period. 101-88 Warriors.

Note: Samuel Dalembert suffered from a strained hamstring, will not be 100% for 16 days. Chris Wilcox will start in his place.

Notable Player Stats

Golden State

Gilbert Arenas: 26 Points, 7 Steals, 4 Rebounds, 3 Assists, 6-17 FG, 1-5 3PT, 13-14 FT (Player of the Game)

Andrea Bargnani: 13 Points, 10 Rebounds, 1 Assist, 1 Steal, 4-11 FG, 1-2 3PT, 4-7 FT

NOTE: This is last game of 2006. Month in Review soon. Gotta let my 360 cool down though. Those stupid things are poorly built.

Fan Voice

NBA Live Series Center Forum Index -> NBA Talk -> Warriors 2006-07 Thread

Warriorsfan42: Woot we're pwning. 8-0! Finally, all those years of being a Warriors fan paid off.

KobeMamba24: Pfft, you are just bandwagoning them. Last month your name was Wade_Flash3. Besides, my 10-0 Lakers will kill the Warriors when they play at Staples. Kobe is averaging 36 PPG!

Warriorsfan42: Yeah right, the Warriors will kill them. Hibachi!

And I'm not a bandwagoner, you are. I've liked them forever!

HibachiZ3r0Ag3nTz: Gilbert is so cool, he is god. Hes always been my favorite player. He is so underrated. Warriors will win the title. I predicted it at the beginning of the year!

KobeMamba24: I'm not a bandwagoner. I joined a whole half month ago and still have this name. And Hibachi, you used to be LeBron23 and before that STAT_Teh_Sun.

Jason_Kapono_Pwns_U: Kapono is God.

KobeMamba24: Okay.... How come he has yet to play a game this season and Miami sucks this year?

Jason_Kapono_Pwns_U: Your just jealous. Has Kobe ever hit as many 3's as Kapwno???

Teh_Baron: Tat game vs. Wizards was stolen. Gilbert "ballhog" Arenas got away with everything. Those refs are clowns. You all suck, I'm leaving this forum for gud.

Bobcats_Forver: The Bobcats are having a winning season! All you guys are bandwagoners. At least I stuck with a team.

KobeMamba24: Didn't you used to be Warriorsfan42?

Kobe's 81: No. I'm just mature now. Cya.

Moderator: This thread sucks. Locked.

NOTE: Okay, that wasn't funny, but I was really bored, and wanted to make this Association unique... 2006 in review soon.

Sixers pose shocking threat but Warriors win in OT

January 3, 2007 | Sixers (4-7) @ Warriors (8-0)

Image12 23 20 13 - 13 - 81
Image18 11 16 23 - 17 - 85

Oakland, CA - Of all the teams to give the perfect Warriors a challenge, how is it the 4-7 76ers that nearly beat them? In this very low scoring game, the Warriors jumped out to an 18-12 lead through the first. However, a strong second gave the Warriors a 35-29 cushion at the half. That lead grew to ten after 3. A late run by Golden State led by Al Harrington resulted in a 68-68 tie at the end of regulation.

The Warriors started strong in OT, playing a hgiher-tempo game and jumped out to an 8 point lead. Two threes by Kyle Korver (10 points, 4 rebounds) dropped the lead to 2. However, it was too little too late as they were forced to foul Monta Ellis who hit both at the line, sealing an 85-81 Overtime win. Andre Miller posted absolutely bizarre stats.

Notable Player Stats:

Golden State

Al Harrington: 20 Points, 16 Rebounds, 2 Assists, 2 Steals, 8-15 FG, 1-2 3PT, 3-4 FT (Player of the Game)
Gilbert Arenas: 28 Points, 7 Assists, 3 Rebounds, 2 Steals, 7 Turnovers, 12-22 FG, 2-9 3PT, 2-5 FT
Rashard Lewis: 13 Points, 8 Rebouinds, 2 Assists, 2 Steals, 1 Block, 4-18 FG, 5-8 FT
Monta Ellis: 13 Points, 6 Rebounds, 4 Assists, 5-11 FG, 3-4 FT
Samuel Dalembert: 11 Points, 12 Rebounds, 4 Blocks, 3-7 FG, 1-2 FT

Philadelphia

Andre Iguodala: 15 Points, 7 Rebounds, 5 Assists, 5 Steals, 1 Block, 7-12 FG, 1-2 3PT
Steven Hunter: 16 Points, 9 Rebounds, 3 Blocks, 8-16 FG
Andre Miller: 7 Points, 12 Assists, 6 Rebounds, 5 Steals, 2-9 FG, 1-2 3PT, 2-2 FT
Mickael Pietrus: 20 Points, 5 Rebounds, 1 Assist, 1 Steal, 1 Block 7-19 FG, 2-7 3PT, 4-4 FT
Joe Smith: 13 Points, 8 Rebounds, 2 Steals, 1 Assist, 5-16 FG, 3-3 FT

Warriors dealt first loss at hands of Bulls

January 10, 2007 | Warriors (9-0) @ Bulls (5-6)

Image 25 18 15 32 90
Image 18 22 29 23 92

Chicago, IL - The Warriors managed to outlast the Lakers for being undefeated the longest, but it was inevitable that Golden State lose eventually. The Warriors looked like they would improve to 10-0 after leading by 7 after the first. Chicago cut the lead to 3 at the half. Ben Gordon caught fire in the third, and nothing would go down for the Warriors as the Bulls outscored them by 14.

The Bulls held on to the lead the rest of the way. In the last 30 seconds, Golden State went on a meaningless 8-0 run to make the game look closer than it was. Bulls win 92-90. In the end, Rebounding appeared to be the difference as they out-rebounded the Warriors 42-35. The Warriors will face the Lakers in the next game, which could end up being a classic. The string of odd stats continues as Luol Deng puts up some unique numbers.

Notable Player Stats:

Chicago

Ben Gordon: 32 Points, 5 Rebounds, 3 Steals, 1 Assist, 12-20 FG. 4-9 3PT. 4-5 FT (Player of the Game)
Andres Nocioni: 17 Points, 9 Rebounds, 3 Assists, 2 Blocks, 5-13 FG, 1-4 3PT, 6-9 FT
Luol Deng: 8 Points, 6 Rebounds, 4 Assists, 3 Blocks, 2 Steals, 4-11 FG
Kirk Hinrich: 14 Points, 3 Assists, 2 Rebounds, 4-10 FG, 1-3 3PT, 5-6 FT
Ben Wallace: 6 Points, 9 Rebounds, 2 Assists, 2 Steals, 2 Blocks, 3-8 FG, 0-4 FT

Golden State

Gilbert Arenas: 31 Points, 8 Assists, 4 Rebounds, 2 Steals, 12-27 FG, 5-11 3PT, 2-2 FT
Rashard Lewis: 25 Points, 8 Rebounds, 2 Assists, 1Steal, 1 Block, 8-16 FG, 2-5 3PT, 7-8 FT
Al Harrington: 10 Points, 7 Rebounds, 4 Assists, 1 Steal, 1 Block, 4-9 FG, 2-3 3PT
Monta Ellis: 10 points, 3 Rebounds, 3 Assists, 3 Steals, 1 Block, 4-8 FG, 2-2 FT
Samuel Dalembert: 8 Points, 6 Rebounds, 4 Blocks, 1-3 FG, 1-2 FT

Warriors' Miracle Run leads to Thrilling OT Win

January 21, 2007 | Warriors (9-1) @ Lakers (13-2)

Image 23 23 15 24 - 12 - 97
Image 21 18 16 30 - 9 - 94

Los Angeles, CA - Best game of the season? So far at least. The most hyped game of the season between the surprise top 2 teams was no disappointment. With amazing play on both sides, this match became and instant classic, and perhaps a Conference Finals preview.

The Warriors outplayed L.A. throughout the first half, leading 46-39 at the half. The Laker's strong defense allowed them to stay alive in the third. A pair of threes in the fourth quarter by Kobe tied the game, and turned the tide. Bryant, who finished with 42 points, and 16 rebounds led the Lakers to a 83-76 lead with a minute left. After a brilliant steal and 3-pointer from Arenas, the lead was four. Bryant ran down some clock, but could not capitalize on a field goal attempt.

The Warriors used a timeout, and Big Shot Bob hit a three from the corner to make it a 1-point game. With 8 seconds left, the Warriors were forced to foul. They fouled Odom, who sunk both. With no timeouts left, Arenas ran up the court, and with 3 seconds left, sunk a miracle three to tie the game at 85, quieting the sellout crowd. The Lakers took a timeout, but failed an alley-oop attempt to win the game.

In Overtime, the Warriors seemed in control, starting with a 6-0 run. Kobe wasn't giving up, and hit a 3, then swatted the struggling Monta Ellis and slammed a spectacular dunk. Steven Jackson saved his team in the final mutes, with 2 clutch jumpers and 2 steals. The Lakers, facing a 5 point deficit, passed to Kobe who hit a 3. Rashard Lewis answered back with a big dunk to put his team up 4. Odom was fouled on a desperation dunk, and split the free-throws. The struggling Monta Ellis was fouled, and missed both free-throws. With no timeouts left, Kobe was forced to heave a half court 3 with .6 seconds to go, which clanked off the rim, concluding the biggest game of the season.

Notable Player Stats:

Golden State

Gilbert Arenas: 37 Points, 6 Rebounds, 6 Assists, 3 Steals, 8-21 FG, 3-11 3PT, 18-20 FT, (Player of the Game)
Rashard Lewis: 23 Points, 6 Rebounds, 1 Assist, 7-13 FG, 3-4 3PT, 6-6 FT
Robert Horry: 12 Points, 8 Rebounds, 4 Assists, 2 Steals, 3-6 FG, 2-4 3PT, 4-4 FT
Steven Jackson: 11 points. 5 Rebounds, 3 Assists, 3 Steals, 5-11 FG, 1-4 3PT
Al Harrington: 8 Points, 11 Rebounds, 1 Block, 4-7 FG

Los Angeles

Kobe Bryant: 42 Points, 16 Rebounds, 4 Assists, 4 Steals, 2 Blocks, 16-37 FG, 4-13 3PT, 6-6 FT
Lamar Odom: 13 Points, 9 Rebounds, 3 Assists, 3 Steals, 5-15 FG, 0-6 3PT, 3-4 FT
Andrew Bynum: 8 Points, 11 Rebounds, 2 Assists, 1 Block, 3-5 FG, 2-2 FT
Vladimir Radmanovic 8 Points, 7 Rebounds, 2 Assists, 1 Block, 4-9 FG
Smush Parker: 6 Points, 4 Assists, 2-5 FG, 2-4 FT

Next Game: vs. Cavaliers (8-4)

Notes: The struggling Spurs (6-8) appear to be out of the running, as superstar Tim Duncan is out for the season with a Torn ACL. The San Antonio Spurs have won 2 of the last 4 titles.
