I agree with CB4... great trade for you. Let's see how Pape plays :D

Fri Dec 09, 2005 9:40 am

not sure bout this trade.I like it, but why do u need another SG? Ur bench now has 4 SG's!(Lenard, Mo Pete, Hodge, Bucker)...I'd like to see how ur going to give playing time to all of them.

You think so? I tried to make it as even as possible. Mo Pete isn't the best thing in the world, he's so inconsistent it's not even funny. Mike James is also out for quite a while so It'd be sort of realistic to bring a player like Boykins in, and you know how much the Raptors need big men right now. Combine that with Babcock's reputation for making bad trades and the trade doesn't look all THAT bad.

I don't see him playing many minutes. Sow has like a shit field goal rating and Camby, Martin and Nene are pretty much my bread and butter for my big man rotation, but when one of them gets too tired I'll try to slip Pape in.

Well, Buckner is crap, Hodge in real life doesn't play that many minutes and Dermarr Johnson isn't a legit three point threat. Also, I hate 6'4 shooting guards and Lenard isn't going to be on the Nuggets roster next season.... You can count on that.

Spurs Stumpted by Nuggets (113-96 Nuggets)

Nuggets Boxscore
Spurs Boxscore

Dermarr Johnson and Kenyon Martin helped start the large lead for Denver, but it was Carmelo Anthony and Marcus Camby who maintained it from collapse.

The Denver Nuggets were booted out of the first round of the playoffs last season by the Spurs, even though the Nuggets took a brief series lead early in the playoffs. Dermarr Johnson scored a season high 18 points while knocking down 3 of his 6 three pointers to help make up for last year's post-season. Carmelo Anthony also knocked down 3 three pointers while shrugging off an early injury. Kenyon Martin had a season high 5 blocks and another monsterous double double of 16 points and 16 rebounds while K-Mart's frontcourt counterpart, Marcus Camby, easily mimicked Martin's performance with a 16 point 18 rebound effort of his own. Dermarr Johnson credits newly acquired swingman Morris Peterson previously from the Toronto Raptors for his fantastic game, despite playing similar positions.

"Peterson had about 13 points and 6 rebounds, so I think there will be some competition between me and him," said Johnson with a slight grin. "In a way, you can say that Peterson was someone who can motivate me to step up my game and play harder because we'll both be fighting for minutes. It'll be a friendly rivalry between the two of us."

The Spurs have unexpectedly dropped to 1-3, despite deepening their bench during the off-season by acquiring guards Nick Van Exel and Michael Finely. Finely and Exel combined for 19 points off the bench, but the Spurs' bench was clearly outplayed by Denver's. Manu Ginobili led all scorers with 22 points and Tony Parker and Tim Duncan both scored 16 points. Duncan was two rebounds shy of a double-double, and 6 of his 8 rebounds came at the offensive end.

"They really suprised us with their shooting," said Duncan. "The Nuggets were really cold from three in their first two games but Morris Peterson really helped open up their offence. Who would have thought that one trade would have made such a huge difference for them. Dermarr Johnson and Carmelo Anthony really found their stroke as well and we let them get going. It was a bad defensive effort."

Denver really pulled away during the start of the second quarter when Dermrarr Johnson had a dunk and a three pointer to spark an 11-2 run. With 3:22 remaining in the first half, Carmelo Anthony hit 3 consecutive jumpers before he landed akwardly on his wrist and sat out for the rest of the second and third quarter. The Nuggets were not hindered by the loss of Anthony, as they steamrolled to a 53-37 halftime lead. Kenyon Martin already had a double double of 14 points and 12 rebounds as Denver outscored (30-16) and outrebounded (16-6) the Spurs in the quarter.

At one point, the Spurs made a mini run and cut the lead to a single digit 68-59 lead, but Dermarr Johnson exploded for 13 points in the third quarter and literally scored on almost every possesion he had the ball. Johnson hit two straight three pointers and hit three freethrows, amd afterwards quickly nailed a turnaround jumper to revive a 14 Denver lead. However, Manu Ginobili scored 12 points and Nick Van Exel ripped apart the Nugget defence by scoring all 10 of his points in the final 3 minutes, including a long halfcourt shot at the buzzer to cut the lead down to 86-79. San Antonio got back into the game by scoring a total of 42 points in the third quarter alone on 70% shooting.

When things were looking bleak for Denver, Carmelo Anthony re-entered the game and helped make a huge Denver push. Both teams shot only 30% from the field in the fourth quarter, but Denver limited the Spurs to only 17 points and Marcus Camby had 5 offensive rebounds in the quarter to help preserve the Nuggets lead. Eventually, Carmelo Anthony found his groove once again and scored 12 points in the quarter, in an impressive sequence where he scored on two three pointers, 4 freethrows and a pull up jumper on 5 consecutive posessions. The Nuggets had pushed the lead back to double digits and it was an uphill battle for San Antonio the rest of the way.

Kenyon Martin's agressiveness on the offensive boards helped stomp the Spurs.

Morris Peterson struggled from the field, but was agressive attacking the basket in his debut
Marcus Camby's rebounding kept Denver's lead alive in the fourth
Duncan scored 16 points for the Spurs
Van Exel nails the buzzer beating shot from half court
Ginobili hit a ton of circus shots
Dermarr Johnson elevated to another level this game
Johnson also had 3 steals in the Nuggets win
Andre Miller had plenty of nice alley-oops.....
...Especially this one to Carmelo Anthony who slams one over Bruce Bowen
It looks like Nene's training with Leon Camby paid off as he scored 12 points

Hodge Helps Nuggets Hurdle Over Hawks (110-96 Nuggets)

Nuggets Boxscore
Hawks Boxscore

Despite having little NBA experience, Julius Hodge managed to pull up big numbers for Denver. The 6'7 rookie out of NC State suprisingly got the nod as the starting point guard, despite playing only a few games this season. Hodge had also been noted to be more of a shooting guard than a point guard, which drew even more doubt against Denver head coach, George Karl. Hodge made his first starting assignment a memorable one, finishing the game with 10 points, 8 assists, 4 rebounds and 2 steals and led the Nuggets to a blowout win.

"This was a big win for us," said Karl. "Everyone played well and we played some very unselfish basketball and made some big plays defensvely." George Karl also had high praise for rookie Julius Hodge as well. "Johnson was shooting 40% from three this season," said Karl. "The guy is 6'7 or 6'8 and his size would make it way too easy to score on our smaller point guards, so I thought that putting Hodge as the starting point guard might be a little something different and might throw them off. Even I was a bit suprised at how well he did."

The Atlanta Hawks were predicted to be a bottom-dwelling team in the NBA this season, but newly acquired Joe Johnson and Zaza Pachulia have helped propel the Hawks to a 5-2 record. Atlanta Hawks leading scorer, Joe Johnson, finished with 28 points but gave credit to Hodge for his defensive effort. "The Nuggets made a pretty risky move putting in a rookie like that, and he really took it agressively at me on offence and defence and that suprised me a bit," said Johnson, referring to his attrocious 3 of 13 shooting from beyond the arc. "We let our bad habits come back to us, but give them credit for playing such tough defence."

Hodge immediately made his presence felt in the first quarter by dishing out 3 dimes and snagging 4 rebounds, helping Denver spark an early 10-2 lead and the Nuggets never looked back. 17-14 was the score after the first quarter, and it was the closest that Atlanta ever got to Denver. The Hawks managed to outscore Denver in the fourth quarter and cut the deficit down to 9, but it was too little too late after Julius Hodge forced two turnovers that resulted into two Morris Peterson three pointers and a layup from Dermarr Johnson which helped Denver preserve their lead until the end of the game.

K-Mart and the Nuggets kicked Joe Johnson and the Hawks back down to reality after a fabulous start to the season.

Sophomore Josh Childress struggled with his jump shot all night thanks to tough inside defence.
Harrington led the Hawks in rebounding with 5 offensive boards.
Julius Hodge did a good job pushing the ball up the floor for Denver.
Johnson shot well from the field, but was 3 for 13 from three.
K-Mart denies Childress.
Tyronn Lue scored 14 points off the bench.
Miller would make the sportscentre highlights tonight with this backwards overhead alley-oop to.....
....Morris Peterson, who gives slam dunk champ Josh Smith a few pointers on making posters.
J-Smooth doing what he does best.

I could care less about whether or not you're reading this, but I am always happy to accept constructive criticsm as to why my dynasty sucks. If something as trivial like Earl Boykins not being on my team makes you want to stop reading, than I'm perfectly fine with that too.

However, you used such an idiotic and irrelevant way of getting your point across so I think I'll be just as vulgar. :)

Fuck off. :P

Anyways, this is a great dynasty, the only flaw is your graphics card

Yeah, that's true. My graphics card is attrocious, I can barely run any games on this computer because my card is so shit.

Johnson's Jumpshooting Lifts Nuggets Over Knicks (109-101 Nuggets)

Nuggets Boxscore
Knicks Boxscore

While overcoming Stephon Marbury's overhwleming scoring, Carmelo Anthony and Dermarr Johnson showed that two players are better than one.

Dermarr Johnson lended a huge hand to the Nuggets by leading the team with 21 points and Anthony finished with 20 as Denver rolled on to a three game winning streak to end the month of November. Andre Miller also had his second consecutive double-double; which was even more impressive considering he scored 14 points, dished out 14 dimes and led the Nuggets with 4 steals. Marcus Camby also seemed to find his niche on the defensive side of the court, allocating 3 steals and 3 blocks while also grabbing a game-high 16 boards.

After winning their first game of the season, the Knicks have now reeled off three consecutive losses under the tutelage of Larry Brown. Stephon Marbury was on fire, knocking down 14 of his 26 shots to score 32 points and also handed out 8 assists. Eddy Curry and Quentin Richardson also backed up Marbury with 20 and 19 points respectively, but no other Knick would score in double figures.

Dermarr Johnson scored the Nuggets first 8 points for an 8-0 lead to start the game, but the Knicks answered right away with an 8-0 run themselves and 6 points camefrom Stephon Marbury and a basket by Curry tied the game immediately afterwards. The Nuggets had 9 offensive rebounds in the second quarter but The Knicks' hot shooting would only allow Denver to inch away with a 56-51 halftime lead. Dermarr Johnson had already scored 17 points to lead the Nuggets while Marbury also scored 21 points to lead all scorers. "For the most part, they put Jamal Crawford on me in the second quarter so I was able to use my size to shoot it over him," spoke Johnson as he referred to his 8 for 9 shooting. "If they played me too closely I used my ballhandling skills to take it to the hoop."

Denver would eventually wear New York down on the inside and take an 86-75 lead after the third quarter after Carmelo Anthony finished the quarter with a powerful dunk before the buzzer sounded. Stephon Marbury was also held to only 1 for 7 shooting that quarter. However, a 13-4 run was orchestrated by the Knicks and fought back to cut the deficit to within one point. Carmelo Anthony struggled throughout the whole game until the two minute mark in the second quarter, where he helped the Nuggets pull away by scoring 10 points over a span of 50 seconds. This created a 104-95 Denver lead with a minute left, and the Nuggets managed to avoid a fourth quarter scare to walk away from Madison Square Garden with a win.

"We lossed our execution after we chipped the lead away to one," said Marbury after the third loss in a row. "We got too excited and took bad shots, lost the ball on bad passes, and that came back to haunt us."

Dermarr Johnson was lights out from the field tonight.

Antonio Davis finished the game with 14 boards.
Marcus Camby's 5 shots all came off of put backs from offensive rebounds.
Jamal Crawford looks for the open man.
Eddy Curry's rebounding and inside scoring helped the Knicks crawl back into the game.
Julius Hodge followed up last game with 9 points off the bench.
Kenyon Martin's highlight reel of dunks this season just keeps growing.
Marbury also had a strong night passing the ball with 8 assists to go with 32 points.
Carmelo Anthony struggled this game, but his fourth quarter heroics helped lift Denver to the win.
Andre Miller threads the needle with 1 of his 14 assists.
Three point king Quentin Richardson hit only 1 of 6 from three, but his overall floor game was spectacular.

Hehe, I'd want my recaps to have a tiny sense of seriousness to them, just like real NBA recaps.

Wow Hawks were 5-2 Nice win asdf

That shocked me quite a bit as well. Joe Johnson is also an MVP candidate. (I'll get more into that later on my monthly recap).

It actually seems ok to me. Oh well, I'm too lazy to download any patches or anything, so I guess I'll leave it be.

Nice work asdf! The dynatsy is rolling along fine!

Thanks a lot man.

Nice win man Mo-Pete stepped up too.

Mo Pete actually had a pretty off-game. He scored 10 points on only 3 of 9 shooting but that was mainly because I wanted to play Dermarr more because he was on fire this game. Jamal Crawford was terrible defending him.

Wed Dec 28, 2005 4:36 am

hey great recap and good win against the knicks. Waiting for ur "report card"
