Clippers activate Korolev and Eisley

Prior to the 1/9/2006 game against the Celtics, the Clippers activated rookie forward Yaroslav Korolev and veteran guard Howard Eisley from the injured list. Elton Brand (broken finger) and Luther Head (sore knee) were placed on the injured list.

Sorry Clippers lose 3rd in a row
The Clippers losing streak was extended to 3 against the Celtics. Missing Elton Brand, the Clippers were awful all over the court. Chris Wilcox, starting in place of Brand, went a pathetic 1/15 from the field, scoring only 3 points in 28 minutes. Ricky Davis, Paul Pierce and Dan Dickau did the damage for Boston. Kedrick Perkins also made a solid contribution, swatting 7 shots and grabbing 9 rebounds.

Paul Pierce scored 17 points for the resurgent Celtics, who have won their last 3.

Thanks guys. It was a real beating, and any tiny drop of love I might have had for the Celts well and truly disapeared during that game.

Note: I edited the game report to show Chris Wilcox starting, for reasons of habit I had accidently left the injured Elton Brand in!!!

Corey Maggette gets going; Clippers break losing streak
A solid performace for the Clippers in MSG ended the 3 game losing streak. Corey Maggette gave his best performance of the season, scoring 25 points. Corey commented: "I love playing at the Garden. Hopefully this will spark my season; with Elton out, my team needs me to step up."

The Knicks trailed by 13 at half time, but tied the game at the start of the 4th quarter. However, some questionable shot selection from Marbury and some great defense from second year guard Shaun Livingston helped the Clippers take the game away from the Knicks.

Stephon Marbury had 18 points and 3 assists, but also gave away 7 turnovers and shot only 8/18 from the field.

Suns too hot for Clippers
Despite a couple of surprises in the makeup of the Clippers team, the Suns were too good for the Los Angleles team. Elton Brand returned to the team after missing 2 games with a broken finger, and replaced Chris Wilcox in the starting 5. The other switch was at the Point Guard position: Shaul Livingston replaced Sam Cassell as the starter.

It didn't make a difference though, as the Suns had too much talent, at both ends of the floor, for Brand and Livingston to make significant impacts (Brand had 12 points on 6/20 shooting; Livingston had 7 assists but only 2 points). The game was close, up until the 4th, when the Suns charged away. Reigning MVP Steve Nash finished with 15 points and 11 assists, while team USA forward Shawn Marion had 28 points and 8 rebounds.

Sam Cassell wasn't happy about not starting. In 14 minutes, he had 2 points and 5 assists.

The Clips had no answer for the 'matrix'. The trio of Nash, Stoudemire and Marion is almost impossible to stop.

Yep, Marion was awesome. But it was one of those performances that you hardly notice you know, until you look at the stat sheet. I was concentrating so hard on stopping Nash and Amare, Marion just kind of quietly took over.

Wizards fail to produce magic
This extended road trip hasn't been too great for the Clippers. But they were determined not to lose another. Elton Brand was declared fully fit. However, it was Corey Maggette who took over. He had 14 points in the first quarter, helping the Clips to a 10 point lead. They never gave it up, despite the Wizards getting close in the 3rd, and claimed their 7th win of the season.

The Wizards backcourt was solid: Hayes, Atkins, Daniels, Arenas and Peeler were all in double figures in scoring. However, starting big men Jamison and Haywood combined for only 6 points. Elton Brand had 15 points and 8 rebounds. Sam Cassell had 6 points and 5 assists, playing in only his second game of the season coming from the bench.

Image
Arenas doesn't like NBA Live. So it was fitting that the Point Guard couldn't lead his team to victory in this Live dynasty.

Clippers - 115
Wizards - 101

Maggette produces again; Clippers crush the Bucks
Despite getting off to a 10-0 start (Michael Redd with all 10!), the Bucks lack of depth and offensive power, as well as an over reliance on the zone, lead to them being completely crushed by the Clippers. Corey Maggette top scored with 30 points, while Redd lead the Bucks with 22. The Clippers lead by 12 at half time, and by the end of the third they were ahead by 19. Next up the Clippers (8-5) travel to the Houston Rockets (13-3). The game tips of tomorrow at 7.30pm.

Awesome Rockets zoom past Clippers
I'm not going to say too much about this game. Just as I enjoyed smashing the Bucks the night before, I hated this. The Rockets built up a big lead in the 1st, and never looked back. Basically, it was a disaster. I'm already thinking trades. Seriously. Someone has to pay.

Thanks mate, it was a good win.... but the Rockets have pissed one my fire.

Maggette... I'm getting sick of him real quick. He is shooting .414 for the field :x But that is still a lot better than Livingston.... who is shooting .161!!!!

I start Kaman for reasons of team balance, I need options from my second unit. But I might be pulling a trade soon that will completely screw with my rotation.

Interesting to see that you've made a mockdraft early, but I always love to read scouting reports on potential draftees. This is pretty solid dynasty even without the pictures and whatnot that the PC can offer.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it.

Yeah, the mock draft is very early. I am trying to add some features, and break the season up a bit, you know. Game report after game report can get a bit boring.

Next up, a trade. Now, put yourself in the position of New Orleans. What is it going to take to acquire JR Smith?

JR Smith is basically the face of the Hornets' franchise now. You'd have to give up some important pieces to make the trade seem realistic.

Elton Brand is the name that has been circulating the NBA.
