Magic Too Much For The Wizards

Wizards- 88
Magic- 92

The Orlando Magic beat the Washington Wizards 92-88 in their 3rd game of the season.

" We didnt play great, but we got the job done."- Ronald MurrayImage

The Washington Wizards came into this game with a record of 1-3 in desperate need for a win. During the first quarter, both teams couldnt hit a shot. Open shots, lay-ups, free-throws were missed over and over. Kwame Brown got injured one minute ito the game but was able to return. The score at the ned of the first was 17-13 Magic. The start of the second was better with both teams doing anything necesary on offense. Dwight Howard and Steve Francis bock picked up their 3rd foul! They had to be benched for the rest of the half. Ronald Murray picked up the slack and started hitting numerous shots, scoring 10 points for the quarter. Kurt Thomas was grabbing rebounds from everywhere getting 8 rebs at the end of the first half. Half time score: 39-38 Magic.
Dwight Howard finished the first half with 8 points and Thomas with 6 pints and 8 rebounds. Steve Francis was in foul trouble most of the half and only managed to score 4 points in the first 2 quarters.

HALFImageTIME
The third quarter was great for us. Although Steve Francis picked up his 4th foul and had to be benched again, the bench took over the game completly. Murray and Thomas with the help of the bench started a run that gave us an 11 point lead! The fourth came and Francis was back in the game scoring 4 straight points including a dunk that pumped the crowd. But then, early in the quarter Steve Francis fouls out of the game  I was still confident because my bench was doing a great jobe but then Dwight Howard fouls out of the game aswell! Horry did a great job getting rebounds and scoring 6 points and grabing rebounds on both ends of the floor. They got as close as 4 points but I was able to keep them from getting into runs. The finals score of the game was 92-88.

" The bench was the key to this game. This showed how we can determine the outvome of the game aswell."- Robert Horry Image

" Foul trouble. Thats what slowed me down man. I mean I cant get only 2 rebounds."- Dwight HowardImage

" I'm not happy with my playing today. Foul trouble limited my playing time. I'm just happy my team pulled it off."- Steve FrancisImage

STATS:

Magic:
Murray- 18pts/4ast
Thomas- 14pts/15rebs
Howard- 14pts/2rebs
Francis- 10pts/5ast

Wizards:
Arenas- 34pts/5rebs/5ast
Hughes- 22pts/3rebs

POG: Gilbert Arenas 34pts/5rebs/5ast

Great win man. Especially having Flip carry the team to victory. Francis, Howard, and Thomas also did well. Congrats on the win. (Y)

That's tough, having literally your franchise player fouling out. Gotta watch out for making too many reach-ins. Have a good game next time round.

Magic Lose At Home Against Sixers

The Orlando Magic lost again the 76ers 81-77 at home.

" We didn't play good. You know you are not playing good when your first lead of the game is late in the 4th quarter."- Kurt Thomas

Bad shooting haunted us through out the first quarter. Although the Magic shot the ball bad during the first, the sixers were hitting everything they threw. Score at the end of the first 25-15 Sixers.

The second quarter started with an 8-0 run by Dwight Howard and Steve Francis. The run was ended by a 3 pointer from Kendrick Brown who had a heck of a game! At the end of the half the score was 47-42 Sixers.

PLAYERS OF THE HALF

The third quarter went as usual, with both teams trading baskets. I was
down by 4 with a quarter to go. At the start of the 4th quarter, both teams were hot from the field, but as the game was ending both teams were missing plenty of shots. With 2:00 left in the game, we took the first lead of the game. I was up by 4 thanks to a lay-up by Kurt Thomas. But then, the Sixers led by AI took control of the game. They made shot after shot.
The 76ers won the game with a final score of 81-77.

Free Agency Signing

The Orlando Magic have confirmed today the signing of point guard Raul Lopez.

" We are hoping Raul can help us address the lack of guards and contribute with scoring and passing."- Magic's GM

Raul Lopez will be ready to play against the Phoenix Suns.

" I'm happy the Magic signed me. I understand they needed a point guard so I'm hoping I can contribute off the bench."- Raul Lopez

Tough loss to Philly, although I can't keep myself from feeling a little happy about it. Where's Webber in that game? Was he traded for Kurt Thomas? And good pick-up on Raul Lopez. Hope to see him get some minutes.

Fri Aug 05, 2005 4:36 am

I agree - he seems like he'd be a bland kinda player in the NBA games, but I imagine he can run a decent offense

Fri Aug 05, 2005 4:53 am

Nice sign of Raul Lopez, although Im not a fan of his.

Webber was injured when I played against Philly. Raul Lopez will get minutes but I signed cause I really needed another point guard.

JR Bremer (sp?) > Raul Lopez

Fri Aug 05, 2005 5:15 am

But Bremer is disappeared in the NBA (where is he actually now). Lopez has some credibility and it seems a more realistic pick-up, even if JR can do some things better.
