1/20/01.....
The Milwaukee Bucks trade Trajan Langdon to the Charlotte Bobcats in exchange for Kareem Rush and Melvin Ely.

Kareem Rush- deadly 3-point shooter, I hope!

Melvin Ely- solid low post scorer
Commentary: Langdon has great shooting ratings (87 FG and 91 3PT), but for some reason, couldn't hit anything for the Bucks. His field goal percentage is in the 30%-40% area. The Bobcats are hoping he realizes his shooting potential for their team, while I hope that Kareem Rush can become the outside threat that my team needs. And Ely is a good low post scorer, too, who might turn into a surprise.

Suns Steal Win Late- Bucks Waste Early Lead, Howard Explosion in Loss
MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN- The Milwaukee Bucks hosted the best team in the NBA last night at the Bradley Center: the 11-2 Phoenix Suns. They showed no signs of intimidation, however, jumping out to an early 14 point lead when they led 24-10 midway through the first quarter.

Dwight Howard stormed out of the opening gates, firing in 5 of his 7 first quarter field goal attempts for 13 points, and starting PG Nate Robinson contributed 8 points and 6 assists in the period. The Bucks had an ideal start to their game with a 31-20 lead.

However, While Howard stayed hot for the Bucks throughout the game, the Suns got even hotter. Phoenix shot 62% in the second quarter and scored 33 points
while being led by the devastating combination of Steve Nash and Amare Stoudemire. It didn’t take long for them to completely erase Milwaukee’s lead and take a 4-point one of their own by the end of the first half, up 53-49.

The Bucks fought back in the 3rd, going to Howard primarily because he was so hot. Dwight scored 15 more points in the quarter to raise his total to 34 in the game

. Eddie Jones knocked down a few jumpers, too. But Stoudemire kept on coming, and Shawn Marion hit 5 of 10 attempts in the 3rd to help the Suns stay in the game. Heading into the fourth and final quarter, Milwaukee led by the slimmest of margins, 82-81.

Milwaukee’s best player, Dwyane Wade, had been very quiet up to that point with just 6 points, but scored 12 in the fourth. He and Howard, who scored 10 more points to finish with a season-high
44
, scored all but 4 of the Bucks points in the quarter. But they couldn’t get any help, and Phoenix stormed back from a 94-86 deficit with 7:00 left. They made a frantic finish led by Nash, Marion and Stoudemire in particular.
In the final 30 seconds, with the Bucks clinging to a 2-point lead, Nash sprinted down the court, stopped and popped a 20-foot jumper in from the top of the key to tie the ballgame at 108. The Bucks missed on their next possession, and then Nash attacked the heart of the Bucks defense with under 10 seconds to play. He drew a foul on a shot, and so stepped up to the free throw line. He’s an excellent free throw shooter, and a very clutch player, so it was no surprise that he swished in both shots.

The Bucks were left with 4 seconds on the clock and a 2-point deficit. They called timeout to advance the ball to midcourt, then gave it to Wade to work his magic. Dwyane drove into the lane hard, manufactured an angle to get off a short fadeaway jumper, but missed the shot. The happy Suns walked off the court with a 12-2 record, still the best in the business.
GAME NOTES
Bucks coach Terry Porter expressed his frustrations with the team and their efforts afterwards. “
I’ve said it all year- we need other guys to step up on this team. Dwight and Dwyane can’t do it all, and that just becomes painfully obvious against such dangerous teams as Miami last game and now Phoenix. I mean, what would the score have been if Dwight had his normal 20 points, instead of 44? Are we going to lose by 20 without monster efforts by these guys? Each and every game, I want to see a few players step it up and be major contributors and factors. That’s when we’re at our best- playing as a team.”
