Emotional Mourning carries Nets over Cavs

Image

With the Cleveland Cavaliers riding high from a big victory over Portland at the Rose Garden they came home to face what seemed to be an easy win after last months run that saw them go from last in the central divison to challenging for the lead. Tonight was a good example of why games are not played on paper. The Nets played stifling defense throughout the game holding the cavs to under 20 points scored in a quarter 3 times. Alonzo Mourning came in averaging 12 points and 9 rebounds since coming back from a kidney transplant. tonight he would play his best game in 4 years. During the 1st quarter the nets handed the offense to zo and he deliverd dunking over zydrunas illgauskas and hitting hook shots over him as well. on the defensive end he also took control down low. Big z missed his first five shots taking 4 in the first quarter, prompting some boos from the crowd. In the second they again went to Zo and he continued his dominance inside scoring 21 in the half, and on a night where Jason Kidd struggled shooting 3-19 they would need every one of zos points. With everyone struggling the cavs focused on pick and rolls with gooden and James this payed off in the 3rd quarter where the cavs scored 21 points. Gooden collected 9 of his 18 in he third, while james collected 10 of his 22. During the fourth the fourth it was close throughout until about 3 minutes to go when on consecutive possesions richard jefferson, who scored 20 points going 50 percent from the field. hit a 3 bringing the nets lead to 9 and then off his own block of illgauskas Mourning received the ball in the post and dunked it with authority giving them an 11 point lead at 70-59. then with the game no longer in doubt mourning was subbed in for Nenad Kirstic, the Gund arena crowd erupted in appreciation of how far Zo has come. He finished with game highs of 27 points 16 rebounds and 2 blocks. Mourning aknowledged the crowd and when asked about it after the game he said " It almost brought me to tears, its different when your not at home, you just dont expect that from a crowd whos team is losing to give you a moment like that. I can only say thanks, this was a special moment."

James Had a tough night being guarded by Jefferson. J Kidd had an even tougher one, though his team won.

Cavs soar past Suns in OT

Image
James throws down a big dunk in the 2nd quarter

The Cleveland Cavaliers were looking to get back in the win column as they had dropped 2 staright in a home and home series to the Nets. Clevleland came out with some fire in the first half getting the ball down zydrunas illgauskas who has been in funk recently. he came out of it in a big way. z scored 18 points in the half to lead the cavs to a comfortable 55-42 halftime lead in what looked to be like an easy win. the second half was a different story.
Quentin Richardson lead the Suns back in the third quarter scoring 15 of his 26 in an absolutley dominating quarter by the suns to get them within 3. in the fourth the Shawn Marion got involved scoring 7 crucial points keeping the suns within 2-4 point range the entire fourth quarter. with the game winding down the suns began to foul. down by four they put LeBron James at the line he made one of two free throws. the suns put the ball in amare stoudamires hands he posted up on Gooden and powered his way up for 2 points and the foul. he converted his free throw. cavs by 2 then with 18 seconds left they fouled Aleksandar Pavlovic who then made 1 of 2 again giving the cavs a 3 point lead. the suns then ran the clock down and handed the ball to quentin richardson who drained a three off a jake voshkul pick to tie the game with no time left sending what was once an easy win for the cavs into overtime. With the Suns emotionally spent the cavs attacked the basket scoring on six straight possesions to take the fight out of the suns. when it was all said and done LeBron James earned POG honors scoring 31 points 9 rebounds and 10 assists, 1 shy of his first triple double.

Q and The Matrix played a great second half but it wasnt quite enough to get the win over the cavs.

Lets do the time warp again!
Miller scores 39 leads indiana to win
Image

In what was one of the most entertaining games of the year the pacers defeated the cavaliers at the conseco fieldhouse 106 114. the cavaliers got off to a quick start in the first pulling ahead by 10 in the first quarter with the hot shooting of jeff mcinnis who had 4 threes. LeBron James recorded 5 assists in the first mostly from finding mcinnis on the perimiter during fastbreaks. during the second reggie miller caught fire scoring 12 points and kept the pacers close down 48-52. The third was full of fireworks by the suddenly high scoring duo of Jamal Tinsley and Miller who scored 14 and 18 points respectively in the quarter, scoring on threes on 5 consecutive possesions to put the pacers ahead by 17 points at one point. Indiana scored a season high 40 points in the 3rd. during the fourth LeBron James Brought the cavs back with his passing inside to big z and drew gooden. The comeback attempt came up short as the closest they got was 6 before the pacers would answer. One thing missing from tonights game was the scoring of aleksandar pavlovic who completley faded from the game after the 1st quarter missing his last 4 shots.

Trade Rumor confirmed

Image
Darko Milicic is the main component in the trade to the cavaliers

It has been confirmed that the detroit pistons and cleveland cavaliers are in trade talks involving last years 3rd overall pick Darko Milicic and former top ten pick Dajuan Wagner. The trade seems to work out pretty well for both sides as the other cav in the trade would be Desagna Diop. Milicic has complained about playing time all season and the cavs can now provide it handing him the backup spot at center and if he performs well the rest of this season, with zydrunas being a free agent, he could possibly become the starting center. Dajuan Wagner hasnt been able to get much playing time with the cavs and Detroit can clearly provide him with the lead backup spots at shooting guard and some point guard potentially to save lindsey hunter for the playoffs. the 2nd player that would be sent to the cavs is quincy lewis.

so what do you guys think should i pull this one off?
D-wags 56 ovr Diop 52
ovr Darko 51 ovr Lewis 48

Cavs blowout struggling Heat by 15

Gooden gets shaq weak stuff outta his house!

The Cavs were on the road last night as they took on the Miami Heat. from the tip off, this game was in the cavs hands. Aleksandar Pavlovic got off to a great start scoring 8 of the cavs first 12 points and jeff mcinnis finished the quarter stron with consecutive baskets to put the cavs ahead 33-18. Things didnt slow down in the 2nd as shaq tried to keep the heat in the game dominating in the low post. in all he collected 16 points in the first half. LeBron James took over the last 5 minutes of the quarter scoring on an overmatched wesley person in a multitude of different ways, posting him up for an easy 2, and even hitting 2 threes in the quarter giving him 14 at the half along with 8 assists and 4 rebounds. once again the cavs outscored the heat 30-24 in the quarter. during the second half the game was played sloppily with both teams playing too much up and down leading to many turnovers. Also Wesley Person shot an insane amount during the second half shooting 32 times! making only 10 of them. Cleveland played their bench players alot in the 2nd half and they were able to maintain the lead as the heat got no closer than 12.

McInnis got off to a good start, while shaq played great all night but didnt get any help

LeBron Puts on a show in La La Land

Image
Bron knocks down a three over Atkins

The Cleveland Cavaliers had visited the staples center just a day ago and were blown out of the building against the Clippers. Last nights game was a role reversal as LeBron James made sure the cavs would not surrender two in a row in LA as he put on a show in front of the star studded crowd. Jeff Mcinnis got the cavs off to a quick start hitting jumpers from 3 different spots on the floor to start the game. James found himself with 2 fouls very early and was taken out during the middle of the first after only 2 points. Mcinnis went to work and fed Illgauskas and Gooden inside, at the end of one it was cleveland 30 la 20. During the second Kobe went to work hitting shots from everywhere en route to 13 points in the quarter, James however was equal to the task scoring 12 points and dishing out 2 assists in the quarter. Lamar Odom brought the lakers back beating Gooden with a spin move on more than one occasion the final one put them behind by only one at the half 51-50. During the second half it all boiled down to Kobe v LeBron both went at each other hard and everytime one would score the other would answer. Chucky Atkins stepped up for the Lakers getting to the basket for easy layups giving the lakers a slight edge at the end of quarter 3. During the fourth as is custom these days witht the cavs they put the ball in LeBrons hands on every possesion either letting him score or make the pass. on this night he was able to do both. he started out finding Gooden in the paint off a baseline drive that drew odom for the double team. then finding Illgauskas on a pick and roll. Kobe Bryant tried to keep his team in the game despite not much help from teamates in the fourth as he nailed a three and got to the line 3 times in the quarter, along with a big double clutch dunk. James however had more ammo in the fourth, he nailed 2 threes down the stretch to bring the cavaliers 2 point advantage to 8. LeBron had this to say about the game: "Me and Kobe battled out their tonight we went shot for shot in the second half, my teamates were the difference tonight i got more help than kobe did. feels good to steal one back from them after losing to them in the Gund."

ImageImage
Kobe did what he could to keep the lakers in the game. Odom provided a little help...but not enough

Cavs Dynasty:The Takeover: Cavs-Heat, trade nixed

Postby trubucksfan on Fri Nov 26, 2004 7:53 am

Trade Talks nixed

Image

Trade talks between the detroit pistons and cleveland cavaliers have stopped abruptly today and each each side is citing several reasons. joe dumars, in a press confrence today has said he nixed the deal because in the end he did not want a division foe having players traded between them for strategic reasons. but one must really think the reason must be that dumars does not want to deal with milicic maturing into a great player and then being criticized heavily for it. the deal looked good for the pistons immediate future with wagner being a potentially explosive scorer off the bench and diop well...you cant teach size. the cavs on the other hand wanted another potentially useful player in the deal as they would have probably put lewis on the ir the entire year. in any case it looks like this trade wont go down after all.

Hey trubucksfan, now that you're almost half way through the season, would it be possible if I can grab your pstat file after you finished Game #29? I'd like to give you your Birdie Breakdown of your Dynasty! Looking really good so far.

I like the BIGNESS of your screen shots. (I'm always afraid to have them that big for fear of getting slapped by photobucket for bandwidth issues  ) You can send me that pstat at honorglow@livedynasty.com if that's cool...
