Celtics Allow 6 Spurs to Score Double-Digits and Still Win

Click for the full boxscore!
Boston had a 12 point cushion headed into the final quarter, and only by having such a big lead did they manage to squeak out the win. Spurs center Tim Duncan really stepped up his defense as he blocked Dwyane Jones on one possession, laid the ball up for his team, and then rose with his head over the rim to block an Al Jefferson layup attempt. After that play Bruce Bowen misses a jumper, but Duncan was also there for the put back dunk.
Big Shot Robert Horry drew the Spurs within one with 2 free throws, but when Brent Barry tried to give the Spurs the lead, Dwyane Jones just got in his way and drew the charge; while fighting for the lose ball, Tony Parker got called for his 5th personal foul and was sat down.
Soon the Celtics were streaking, and the score was 106 – 96, but sharp shooting by Beno Udrih brought the Spurs back. Tim Duncan picked up his 5th foul but stayed in, however due to fear of fouling out; he was not much of a factor in the last several minutes. With both of their premier playmakers in Duncan and Parker unable to take chances due to foul troubles, the Spurs couldn’t pull any closer and gave the game to the Celtics 113 – 108.
Richard Hamilton was named POTG with a game high 32 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. Rookie of the Year candidate Rudy Gay only had 4 points, but came off the bench for 11 rebounds. Kedrick Perkins had a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds. Duncan, Horry, and Bowen all double-doubles in points and rebounds; the Spurs had 6 players who scored in double-digits.

Er. I think so, though I don't know why I didn't post a notification of you being injured. Strange.

Last Place Hawks Score 45 In Final Quarter To Shock Boston Fans

Click for the full boxscore!
Usually when the Celtics are leading going into the 4th quarter they win, however tonight’s game was the exception. Despite being down 70 – 75 at the start of the quarter, the Atlanta Hawks turned to their playmaker Josh Smith and rookie point guard Conrad Burry for points. Within minutes Smith and Burry gave the Hawks the lead due to several inside buckets, including a Smith dunk on Richard Hamilton.
The game turned physical as players on both teams were send to the ground, starting a free throw shooting battle. Kedrick Perkins went out with his 5th foul at the 4:33 mark, which allowed Smith to fly inside easily. The teams exchanged shots, with Hamilton draining a three, followed by Burry. With just a minute left and the Hawks up 111 – 107, both Burry and Zaza Pachulia hit shots despite contact. On the other end the Celtics were only able to match their opponent in the final minute, but could not pull ahead. The final score was 115 – 111.
Josh Smith and Conrad Burry shared the POTG award. Smith had 19 points and 12 rebounds, while Burry had 21 points, 8 rebounds (for a 5’11 point guard), and 3 assists. Joe Johnson had 24 points, 7 rebounds and assists for the Hawks while Pachulia had 12 points and rebounds. Kedrick Perkins continued getting double-doubles for the Celtics while Pierce continued his hot shooting, however this wasn’t enough to give the C’s a win.

I didn’t notice this until after this game, that’s the reason Pdub wasn’t in the previous boxscore

The loss to Hawks? You must play better defence at the 4th quarter.
Thu Feb 15, 2007 8:39 pm
if u play in superstar mode, in the 4th period (especially when its like 3 mins left) the opponent play like "ultra star". They always hit the shots, even if you jump on them. i can understand u, but i think u should win to da hawks...

Bosh Saves Game By Blocking Green’s Layup

Video

Click for the full boxscore!
With just 2 seconds left in overtime, Gerald Green got the ball down in the post and turned to lay the ball up. Just as the ball left his fingertips, Chris Bosh came out of nowhere and blocked the ball against the backboard (see bottom left image). With the Celtics still in shock, forward Morris Peterson grabbed the ball as the clock expired, allowing the Raptors to escape with a 124 – 123 win.
With the game tied at 80 – 80 going into the final quarter both teams came out running and gunning. Paul Pierce and Kedrick Perkins both threw down big dunks, but thanks to Bosh’s turnaround jumpers and hook-shots Toronto took a small lead.
After half of the final quarter, Toronto was up 108 – 102 thanks to a big block on Perkins by rookie sensation Ben Branch and a Fred Jones three-pointer on the other end. Boston pulled back extremely quickly however with 2 consecutive dunks by Green, including one on Bosh while Bosh laid under the basket.
With the Raptors up 124 – 121, Boston’s Green made another beautiful dunk, but Bosh and the Raptors were able to hold on as Bosh got revenge on Green for being dunked on earlier in the game. Point guard T.J. Ford was named the POTG with 29 points and a career high 17 assists, Ford also had 6 rebounds. Chris Bosh led all scores with 32 and grabbed 11 rebounds. Rookie Branch had a modest 14 points and 15 rebounds.
For Boston, their star player was Delonte West as he led the team with 29 while Richard “RIP” Hamilton scored 21 points to go along with his 10 assists; he was the only player on the Celtics to have a double-double. Rudy Gay came off the bench to score 18 points and grab 8 rebounds, at this rate he will be a lock for the Rookie – Sophomore game during All-Star Weekend in Las Vegas.

wow, great victory about SPURS...

damn the last second block, but should have better be trying to attempt a dunk, not a layup. If you are still looking for a trade that would bring you onto Celtics, so you should try to offer Jake, or maybe sign some FA for minimum and give it to Warriors...

Wow 17 assists and 29 points for T.J. Ford. The Raps had to put up a great defensive effort just to beat you by one.
West doesn't seem to guard his opposition well, I would suggest a trade. I think you should try to get a big man because that is where you are lacking. You don't need a true point guard, you can run a 1-2-3 with Hamilton-Pierce-Gay.
Glad you brought the 4 photo format, looks great.

You know, at this rate, I won't even put it by you about the all star game, but you are definately a lock for the Rookie-Sophomore game.

Well, I ended up making the trade much later in the season from now, and I had to give up a lot to trade for myself..

I was seriously considering it, but I can't due to the fact that Delonte is my favorite player on the Celtics....
