Celtics Roar Back To Win In Overtime Against Memphis

Click for the full boxscore!
If it were not for Hakim Warrick, the Memphis Grizzlies would be headed back to the locker rooms with their heads down, but instead they lived to fight a little bit longer. Though they still lost, it would have been bigger blow to their ego had Warrick missed the shot at the end of regulation. After a Paul Pierce shot that put Boston up 124-122, Warrick took the inbounds, drove the length of the court, and despite contact from Jones, still managed to squeeze off a shot before the buzzer; lucky for the Celtics the referees did not call a foul, otherwise Warrick would have had a chance to end the game there.
Being down by a huge amount going into the half, the Celtics absolutely dominated the 3rd quarter, drawing within just 2 points, 78-76 going into the last quarter. This was the first chance for former Celtic Wally Szcerbiak to face his old club, likewise for Eddie Jones and Jake Tsakalidis. Szcerbiak did not a very good game though as he was in constant foul trouble. Kedrick Perkins picked up his 5th just 15 seconds into the quarter and was sat down, while Pau Gasol and Szcerbiak both picked up their 5th fouls near the 5 minute mark. Szcerbiak’s 5th came on an amazing flying dunk by Rudy Gay (above).
With just a minute left and the Celtics down by 4, Al Jefferson hurled up a three-pointer, which miraculously went in, drawing the Celtics close to victory. After a made basket by rookie Mark Moore, Eddie Jones drained a long ball on his old team to tie the score at 116. Going into overtime after Warrick’s buzzer beater, both Kedrick Perkins and Celtics starting point guard Delonte West had fouled out; Perkins had a 16 point and 8 rebound outing while West put in 24 points and 5 assists. For the Grizzlies, Gasol was still on the bench with 5 fouls, though he has been their star with 20 points and 16 rebounds, 9 offensive. Suprisingly the one who kept the game close while Gasol was on the bench was no other than the sensational rookie Moore, who had accumulated 33 points.
Just minutes into the overtime, Moore picked up his last foul defending Richard Hamilton, which was a huge blow as the Grizzlies couldn’t afford to lose Gasol too, so 2 of their best players were sitting on the bench. Eddie Jones defended against Mike Miller with just 2:47 left in overtime, and after a collision, he had to be helped off the court. The diagnosis was just that he will be unable to play for the rest of the night with a turned ankle. With just seconds left and the game 145-139 in favor of the Celtics, Damon Stoudamire nailed long three-pointer, but 2 points was as close as the Grizzlies would get. The Celtics made their free throws and somehow walked out with a 147-145 win on the Grizzlies’ own floor.
Paul Pierce was named POTG with nearly a double-double, scoring 27 points while grabbing 9 rebounds and dishing out 6 assists.

Ummm, just pointing out that the recap shows memphis's score (when added up through the quarters) to be 118 not 145, their 4th quarter is the wrong score...
Otherwise great game, keep up the great dynasty.

Celtics Squeak By In Yet Another Overtime Triller

Click for the full boxscore!
The Celtics once again crawled from a big halftime deficit to force overtime, with the bench playing a major role in this victory. Big man Al Jefferson had yet another horrendous game with just 4 points and 7 rebounds, and fouled out after just 27 minutes of play. Without him, the Celtics relied on a faster, but undersized six man rotation to run at the Magic. Rookie Rudy Gay filled in as a smaller Power Forward and excelled, going 11-16 for 24 points and 9 rebounds. Veteran Eddie Jones came off the bench as a 6th man to score 14 points. But being undersized, Magic forward Dwight Howard had his way with a tremendous game of 36 points and 13 rebounds while center Darko Milicic had 16 points and also 13 rebounds. Overall the Celtics bench outscored the Magic’s bench 51 – 22.
Rudy Gay showed to the rest of the NBA why he should have been drafted higher as he completed ran circles around Dwight Howard, including putting down 4 dunks. Though playing an undersized forward position against a stronger Howard, Gay was abused on the defensive end. With just 8 seconds left in regulation, Richard Hamilton took a jumper with his toes on the three-point line, tying the game at 124; the Magic missed their game-winning attempt.
The Celtics took a good lead due to the sharp shooting of Eddie Jones, gaining a 6 point advantage after a corner three by Jones. However Jameer Nelson brought the Magic back with several great plays by himself. With just 1:39 left in overtime, Grant Hill fouled out while defending Gerald Green, and on the following possession, Green also drew a offensive charge on Nelson. With just 40.5 seconds left, Rudy Gay pulled up for a jumper from the free-throw line, swishing it and giving the Celtics as 140 – 138 lead. The following 40.5 seconds saw no points from either team, thus the Celtics somehow managed to win again. An ugly win, but win nonetheless.
Rudy Gay was named the co-POTG with Dwight Howard for their superb performances.

Jermaine O’Neal Scores 39 to Lead Pacers Past Boston

Click for the full boxscore!
The Boston Celtics must be tired, as they lost in a very close game to the Indiana Pacers. Jermamine O’Neal was the main reason for the victory with a game high 39 points, though Richard Hamilton tried to win the game by himself with 33 points. Al Jefferson had yet another horrible game with only 3 points on 0 – 6 shooting and 6 turnovers.
Boston never led in the last quarter, whenever Rudy Gay or Paul Pierce went in for a layup or dunk, Jermaine O’Neal was there was put in points for Indiana. The Celtics almost caught up, being down only 100 – 98 with 3:56 left in the game, but with Hamilton on the bench with 5 fouls, the Celtics couldn’t pull any closer.
With just 7.7 seconds left and the Celtics down 115 – 112, Rudy Gay was fouled by O’Neal, his 5th, and sent to the line. Gay made both frees, but the Pacers instantly scored and with just 6.1 seconds left. With the score 117 – 114, the Celtics last half-court heave missed.
Jermaine O’Neal was named the Player of the Game.

I'm going to be the next Jason "phuckin" Kidd with my stats baby! I have to be in contention for ROY!
Sun Jan 28, 2007 4:23 pm
Yea, these games were played back in like late november, before I managed to control myself...
Also, I've been playing on keyboard up to this point. Today I was in Target and was in the electonics section for like half an hour, pacing, whether to buy a Logitech controller, plus a iPod armstrap for running.. the controller was $19.99 while the iPod strap was $29.99. Man.. it took forever, but I ended up getting neither... Man... Jao, if you read this, come over and maybe we can make the controller compatable now that I have this new desktop.
Thanks for the superb feedback everyone. Its been kind of tough to do a dynasty now because its more or less just me and Pursuer who are really committed to updating and working on this. Wish everyone would come back. Though thanks for the support during the
Dynasty Depression

Dont worry dude, me and Dragon will have something up and running soon
Sun Jan 28, 2007 6:37 pm
i better win ROY. that is all.
Sun Jan 28, 2007 6:44 pm
I don't know what your talking about. Dynasty is looking good. I miss when you had 4 pics instead of 2, though. Get that controller working.

Branch and Bosh Foul Out As Raps Lose In Blowout

Click for the full boxscore!
Boston proved again they are the League’s best 4th quarter team, as well as its highest scoring team. Going into the last quarter the game was tied 74 – 74 between Toronto and Boston. Toronto stayed close mainly due to the effective play of the #1 draft pick Ben Branch, however when Branch picked up his 6th foul just barely 2 minutes into the final quarter, the Raptors totally fell apart. Without him the burden fell on Chris Bosh, but then just 20 seconds after Branch fouled out, Bosh picked up his 6th as well while defending Al Jefferson. Without the Raptors’ 2 main source of scoring, they could not defend inside and could not score on the other side.
Finally the game ended, but the Raptors had be embarrassed by 17 points, though if Branch and Bosh had not fouled out, the game would have been a totally different story. Paul Pierce was POTG with a game high 31 points and 9 assists, though TJ Ford got his chance to shine with 30 points and 11 assists.
