Oh and by the way everyone.. it seemed that I put up the recap a bit early.. but I'll leave it there. Then I'll put up the games leading up to this recap.. Its kind of reversed, but it'll work out. After catching up to the December Recap, then I'll move on with the 2007 recaps.

I just read this whole thing. It looks great! Some of the recent trades have been questionable, but you know what you are doing. 22-13... tough losses but at least you rebounded against Golden State.

    December Recap
    Courtesy of the Boston Celtics

    Image

Boston came out this month a bit slower than November, and ended up with a 3rd place finish in the Eastern Conference at 19 – 9. Only the powerful Detroit Pistons and the Philadelphia 76ers stand in front of them.

    Image

Bulls rookie forward Jon Smith still leads all the NLSC rookies and rookies overall with a 21.4 PPG and 10.8 RPG; Smith is also contributing with 4.2 APG. Raptors forward Ben Branch is close behind at 19.4 and 9.7. The Portland Trailblazers’ rookie backcourt combo Sam Anurak and Lpasso Sor are doing superb with 18.4 points and 17.9 points respectively.

*I have no idea what Perkins and Hamilton are doing in there…

    Image

*All the players are not present…Again, don’t ask

Kedrick Perkins is doing fairly well as the starting center for the Celtics as he is racking up 7.6 PPG while grabbing 7.4 RPG. Small forward and co-captain Paul Pierce is leading the way with 21.1 PPG and 7.3 RPG. Delonte West really has shown he can score with the 2nd highest average on the team at 19.6. Richard Hamilton is putting down 16.5 PPG. Off the bench rookie Rudy Gay is performing on pace with 9.6 PPG.

    Image

Paul Gasol continues to lead the way of MVP Candidates. Memphis is still doing just average, yet Gasol has flourished. This is the first year that he’s been in the running. Kevin Garnett and Lamar Odom are close behind with double-doubles; in fact. Andrei Kirilenko of the Jazz is the only player who does not have a double-double in the candidates.

    Image

Being the top of the MVP candidate list, its was natural for Pau Gasol to be the Western Player of the Month. Memphis rookie Mark Moore was named the West Rookie for averaging 15.6 PPG. Benjamin Branch managed to win both the East Player of the Month plus the East rookie with a double-double of 18.2 PPG and 10.7 RPG.

    ImageImage

The 76ers still are the top of the East at 22 – 7 while the Pistons are trailing at 21 – 7; the Washington Wizards lead their conference while only being at .500 with a 15 – 15 record.

On the other side, the Spurs are rising at 22 – 8 while the Phoenix Suns are at 19 – 11 while Denver is at 16 – 12.

Boston managed to walk away with a win only due to a missed three-pointer by Rookie of the Year candidate Sam Anurak. The other man in the Blazers’ backcourt, Lpasso Sor picked up his 5th foul with 7:39 left in the game, causing him to be taken out. His counterpart Richard Hamilton picked up his 5th foul as well several minutes later, forcing him to go out as well.

Near the beginning of the 4th quarter, Blazers power-forward Zach Randolph fouled out defending Paul Pierce, forcing Raef Lafrentz to come into the game. Darius Miles managed to tie the game with a brilliant windmill dunk on fast break, firing up the crowd, but a Pierce dunk on the other end quieted the crowd. Jamal Magloire picked up his 5th foul as well with just 3:39 left, and was taken out as well.

With just 3.0 seconds left and down 112-109, Anurak took the inbounds pass. He faked Pierce into the air, and drew some contact, then threw up a fadeaway three-pointer. The ball however clanked off the back of the rim as time expired. Guard Richard Hamilton was named Player of the Game with a double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds, he also had 5 assists.

Ok guys, this is a new recap style. Its not certain whether I will use this one, go back to my old one, or create another one... not sure yet. I guess as of now I am still experimenting with different recapping styles. I have some good ideas, but NLSC is not really dynasty-friendly, therefore the styles are kind of restricted.

Feel free to give opinions everyone.

P.S. And I would like to thank dragon for making the template for the quarterly scores.

Sat Jan 20, 2007 5:51 pm

Looks good, especially the team logos... Looking at the last one, I prefer this one...

Sat Jan 20, 2007 6:17 pm

great recapping style. i like how you kinda margined it. (Y)

Sat Jan 20, 2007 8:39 pm

New recap is cool, definitely better than previous. (Y)

Sat Jan 20, 2007 9:17 pm

The new recap is nice, just like the contents.

Sun Jan 21, 2007 4:03 am

Alrighty then, I guess I'll stick with this style. I still am disappointed that NLSC is so restrictive on how you can make a post and stuff, for such a huge forum, you figure they would have more flexability. Now if only I can find a way to make the recap text stay within the margins then that would be brilliant.

 You probably will. I mean the worst team was the 76ers of old, who got what, 9 wins? There are still more than 4 months left in the season, so I don't think you have to worry about not getting 10

Five Players Score In Double-Digits As Celtics Win At Home

    Image Image

    Image
    Click for the full boxscore!

The first quarter could not have gone any better for the Cleveland Cavaliers as they scored a season high 33 points in the first quarter, but were not able to get over 20 points in the following 2 quarter. During the first 3 quarters the Celtics stayed consistent, scoring 24, 27, and 20 points respectively; by the end of the 3rd quarter, the score was 71-65 Boston.

Richard Hamilton was the story of the first half of the 4th quarter as he scored 12 of his 22 points then. Just barely half a minute into the quarter, he jumped and stole an inbounds pass intended for Eric Snow, then dunked the ball on Snow, drawing a foul. Within 2 minutes the Celtics had extended the lead to 18 points. Finally LeBron James came alive and took over the scoring load for Cleveland. Halfway through the quarter, the Cavs had caught back up, 88-81. LeBron James even awed the Boston crowd with 2 amazing dunks on consecutive possessions. His first dunk was a 360 dunk spinning to the wrong way, finishing it by putting it down on Rudy Gay. After a miss by the Celtics on the other end, James sprinted down the court again, and then proceeded to dunk over Delonte West, causing West to fall to the ground.

With less than a minute left, the Cavs made a final push, starting with a fadeaway three-pointer from Center Anderson Varejao as the shot clock expired, followed by another three made by James from the right corner. 4 points were as close as the Cavs were going to get though as the Celtics sank their free throws to put the game away. Final score was 108-99 Celtics. Richard Hamilton was named Player of the Game with a 22 point, 6 rebound, and 8 assist performance; he also led the game with 5 steals.

Kedrick Perkins had a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. The Cavs Ilgauskas and Marshall both had double-doubles; Ilgauskas had 19 and 18 while Marshall had 16 and 12. Eric Snow failed to performance his job as Point Guard with just 3 points, 1 assist, and 4 turnovers.
