GL in the offseason

Tue Jul 25, 2006 3:36 am

well.... thanks for the great following through this season guys

I am sad to say that for some reason after going through the offseason with oleEnglish's rookie mod, my game refuses to all me to play a game. I used my backup, but it seems like that is corrupt as well...

so i guess this is yet another one over.... its been great, won the championship, made history

thanks for the good times. dunno if i'll be posted another dynasty, but you can be 100% there will be a Jing 07 Dynasty.

Tue Jul 25, 2006 4:56 am

sucks man...the rookies didnt work for me either but my dynasty is still fine with my backup
but you can be 100% there will be a Jing 07 Dynasty.

sad to see this thing end....cant wait for ur 07 dynasty.

Tue Aug 08, 2006 4:55 pm

Alright guys, I’ve said that I won’t be doing any more dynasties… but it’s been a little boring, so I’ve decided to not do a new one, but to bring this old one back. Of course I can’t make everything exactly the way it was before, but I started the season with one the lineup I had at the end of the season and we went 46-36 and won the championship over the #3 Miami Heat of the East as the #6 seed in the West.

We received the #20 pick in the draft. The LA Lakers got lucky, jumping 4 slots to get the #1 pick in the draft. With that 20th pick the Clippers chose Glen Hsu out of Islamabad, Pakistan. Hsu is a 6’10, 228 pound forward. Hsu moved to Islamabad from Taipei City, Taiwan when he was 4 and has been living there ever since.

With the 50th pick, the Clippers chose Erick Fagan, out of UNLV; Fagan was born in Boynton Beach, Florida. He is a 6’9, 253 pound center/forward as well.

During the offseason starting point guard Sam Cassell and rarely played center/foward Vin Baker both retired. In other news Bruce Bowen of the San Antonio Spurs retired as well, followed by Christian Laettner, Tom Gugliotta, Alonzo Mourning, Dikembo Mutombo, and Gary Payton.

Before the season started, the Clippers made one trade: shooting guard Josh Childress to Chicago for their point guard Chris Duhon. This is a good trade for both teams. Chicago lost Andres Nocioni to the Charlotte Bobcats, while Clippers lost Cassell to retirement. The additions of both will do well for each team.

So this is where I am going to start from… I will perhaps add NLSCers as free agents, but that’s yet to be seen.

Clippers muscle out come-back win
October 28, 2006

Los Angeles Clippers - 120
Houston Rockets- 115

(Boxscore)

The Rockets had a slim lead headed into the last quarter, but failed to hold on to their lead and let the Clippers’ Elton Brand and Mike Miller explode for consecutive points. The Clippers managed to win the first half, but in the 3rd quarter they allowed 9 more points to the Rockets, falling down 72-67.

Both teams came out running in the last quarter, but the Clippers won the last quarter 53-43. When you do the math, their deficit was 5, and they won the quarter by 10, thus they won by the final score 120-115. The Clippers only played 8 players, and most of the points were scored by their starters. Elton Brand led all scores with 32 points and 10 boards, thus being named Player of the Game. The Rockets’ Yao Ming had a 20-20 game with 27 points and 21 rebounds, 9 offensive.

After the game, Los Angeles Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy Sr. held a press conference to the Los Angeles press. He announced that the team has reached an agreement the Detroit Pistons. This trade will send power forward Erick Fagan to the Pistons for shooting guard Nelson Lue. His reason for the trade was the fact that the Clippers had an overload of power forwards. They already have Brand, Korolev, Warrick, and Hsu. This trade for Lue is good because a capable shooting guard is exactly what the Clippers are lacking. Lue will most likely play both of the guard positions, behind Shaun Livingston and Chris Duhon.

    Game Notes

    - The Clippers only played 8 players, but still managed to get 48 rebounds, one less than the Rockets’ 49.
    - The Clippers won the assist battle, 32-23. Chris Duhon came off the bench to dish out 6 assists. Rafer Alston had 10 assists for the Rockets.
    - The Clippers shot only sub-par from the line, going only 25-36 (69.4%).
    - Alston shot a horrible 4-12 from downtown. Mike Miller shot 4-7.

Brand the hero once more
October 30, 2006

Los Angeles Clippers - 107
Atlanta Hawks - 105

(Boxscore)

Elton Brand, the one who won the NBA Championship with a last second shot, came up big again versus the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks’ Tyronn Lue and Al Harrington hit consecutive three pointers in the last half minute to tie the game at 105. Brand took the ball on the inbound and dribbled out the clock, putting up a shot with only 1.1 seconds on the clock. He was fouled by the Hawks’ rookie Lane Dove, which sent him to the line. Brand confidentially sank both free throws while Dove missed a court-length shot.

On a side note, before the game, Toni Kukoc arrived in the locker room, confusing the players. Only then was it revealed that he was signed as a backup small foward. Previously the Clippers only had Maggette as their small foward, but Kukoc will bring experience and clutch shooting (if he's still got it).

Sorry guys, I ain’t really in the mood to do a huge recap. This little recap will have to settle. I think it depicts the most important part of the game well.

    ImageImage
Left: Corey Maggette stares at Joe Johnson after he dunks on him | Right: Johnson tries to steal the ball from Duhon, but fouls him instead

    ImageImage
Left: Shaun Livingston goes for the steal on Tyronn Lue | Right: Both Boris Diaw and Mike Miller gets their hands on the ball to block Lue

    Game Notes

    - The Clippers were again outrebounded, 40-42. Elton Brand had 10 rebounds while Corey Maggette snagged 8.
    - Josh Smith was only held to 9 points, but he did manage 12 rebounds
    - Clippers shot horrible again from downtown, only 3-16 for 18.8%. Atlanta shot considerably better, going 7-15 for 46.7%.
    - The Clippers committed 5 less turnovers than the Hawks, which allowed the Clippers to come back near the end of the quarter and eventually take the lead.

nice win and good luck next game. (Y)
