After having to grind through seven grueling games with Indiana, the Bulls found a much easier time in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals against Cleveland.
The Bulls took an early 10-point lead and never looked back, romping to a 140-112 win over the Cavaliers at the United Center.
"It's good to have a game like this where you can breathe easy," said LeBron James, who had 26 points, 7 rebounds, 10 assists and 6 steals.
The Bulls got big contributions from everyone. Amare Stoudemire led everyone with 42 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Colicky Boy notched a triple-double with 33 points, 10 rebounds, 11 assists and 7 steals. Dwyane Wade had 24 points, 4 boards, a game-high 11 assists and 3 steals. And Dirk Nowitzki, despite only scoring 13 points, still dished 8 assists.
Deng rejects a Colicky Boy three
"Too much firepower," said Cavaliers guard Kirk Hinrich, who had 32 points and 6 assists.
Despite 23 first-half points from former Bull Eric Piatkowski, the Bulls still led by 11 at the half. And in case anyone thought Cleveland would mount a comeback, James opened the second half with two consecutive steals leading to fast-breaks.
Former Bull Luol Deng had 21 points and 4 assists for Cleveland. Zydrunas Ilgauskas was held to only 8 points by Stoudemire.
"We match up well with them," said Scott Skiles. "We just need to guard against complacency."

Bulls lead series 2-0

Cleveland was determined to play better tonight, and after LeBron James was injured with 4:37 left in the first quarter, the Cavaliers looked ready to sneak a win on the Bulls home court.
But powered by a career-high 57 points from Amare Stoudemire, the Bulls held off a resurgent Cavaliers team to win Game 2 at the United Center 116-111.
"Our strategy was simple: feed him the ball," said Bulls guard Dwyane Wade of Stoudemire. "Feed him until they figure out how to stop him."
Cleveland led by 4 after the first quarter but trailed by 12 heading into the fourth quarter. The Cavs went on a 16-2 run to get back in the game. With 19.4 seconds left and the Bulls clinging to a 114-111 lead, Dwyane Wade rebounded a missed three by former Bull Eric Piatkowski that would have tied the game. Bulls guard Lucious Harris made two foul shots to close the scoring.
"We failed at the end," said Cavaliers guard Kirk Hinrich, who had 31 points and 7 assists.
Stoudemire also had 9 boards and 4 assists. Wade only scored a season-low 6 points but still got a double-double with a game-high 12 rebounds and 10 assists. Dirk Nowitzki notched a double-double with 18 points, 6 boards and a career-high 14 assists. And Colicky Boy also recorded a double-double with 18 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists and 7 steals.
James did not return to the game but should be 100% for Game 3.
"We didn't want to risk further injury, so we put him on the shelf," said Bulls head coach Scott Skiles. "We'll definitely need him for Game 3 on the road."
Former Bull Hinrich fires a three
Ilgauskas was a big defensive presence tonight, getting career-highs in blocks (8) and steals (6) to go with his double-double (14 points, 10 rebounds). But the team lacked other firepower.
"We'll have to review the game film and try to do better," said Cleveland head coach Paul Silas. "All they did was hold serve. Now we have to do the same when we get back to Gund [Arena]."

Bulls lead series 3-0

CLEVELAND - After beating Shaquille O'Neal and the Heat in 5 games and beating Allen Iverson and the 76ers in 5 games, Cleveland was expected to give the Bulls a competitive series.
However, the Bulls are on the verge of a sweep after a dominating 134-100 win in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
Dwyane Wade led the Bulls with 36 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists. LeBron James, who was 100% for the game after straining his elbow in Game 2, had 32 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 blocks. Amare Stoudemire had 34 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. And Colicky Boy had 22 points, 12 rebounds, 12 assists and 8 steals.
Wade picks Hinrich's pocket
"They were everywhere," said Cleveland guard Eric Piatkowski, who scored 24 points.
The Bulls only led by 4 after one but swelled to a 21-point lead by halftime on the strength of James' 18 second-quarter points.
The Bulls were without Dirk Nowitzki for the second half. Nowitzki sprained his ankle with 3:27 left in the second and never returned. He is expected to be day-to-day.

Former Bull Luol Deng was held to 5 points but former Bull Kirk Hinrich scored a career-high 46 points to no avail.
"We didn't come all this way to give up now," said Hinrich. "As far as I'm concerned, we have four more games to play."
Not if the Bulls can help it.
