Bulls blown out at home, face elimination

The Bulls only lost 4 games in the entire regular season but they are on the verge of losing 4 games in this frenetic playoff series against Indiana.
The Bulls' shocking 122-106 pasting by the Pacers at the United Center puts the Bulls on the brink of elimination, as they are now down 3-2 in this conference semi-final series.
"Just one more, baby," said Jermaine O'Neal, the Player of the Game with 27 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocks. "And we'll make history."
"I expected us to play better," said a bewildered Scott Skiles. "The fans expect us to play better."
Bulls archnemesis Reggie Miller scored a game-tying-high 32 points with 6 assists, leading a Pacers scoring brigade. Jamaal Tinsley had 22 points and 7 assists while Sixth Man of the Year Stephen Jackson added 19 points.
"We got careless with the ball a lot," said the Bulls' Amare Stoudemire, who also scored 32 points with 6 rebounds. "Whenever we tried to make a run, we killed it with turnovers."
Wade flies in with a left-handed layup that left Jonathan Bender in his wake
The Bulls had balanced scoring. LeBron James had 18 points, a game-high 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Dirk Nowitzki had 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Colicky Boy had 19 points, 5 boards, 8 assists and 9 steals. And Dwyane Wade had 14 points, 4 rebounds and 8 assists. But indeed, the turnovers stopped them cold.
"It's bad enough we lost on our home floor," said Wade. "Now we have to win on the road. It's going to be tough. But don't count us out yet."

Bulls fought off a 7-point fourth-quarter deficit to edge Indiana, force Game 7

INDIANAPOLIS - With the Conseco Fieldhouse crowd in a delirium, the Bulls survived a 7-point deficit entering the fourth quarter and edged the Pacers 116-111 and force a deciding Game 7 back in Chicago.
"Everyone says Game 5 was critical," said Bulls forward LeBron James. "But every game is critical now."
James was 2 rebounds shy of a triple-double, getting 19 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists, along with a block and 3 steals. "They came up big," said Jermaine O'Neal, who had 18 points, 6 rebounds and 3 blocks. "Now we have to win in their place just like they won in ours."
Amare Stoudemire led all players in points (42) and rebounds (10). Dwyane Wade added 18 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Colicky Boy had 21 points, 5 boards and 9 assists. And Dirk Nowitzki had 10 points with 8 rebounds.
"We didn't panic," said Stoudemire of trailing in the fourth.
Indiana got balanced contributions (Jonathan Bender had 10 points, 7 rebounds; Ron Artest had 22 points and 5 rebounds; Reggie Miller had 25 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists; and Jamaal Tinsley had 20 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists). But they flopped in the critical fourth quarter.
The Bulls led by 11 at the half but Indiana came out gunning in the third to take that 7-point lead.
"We were just 12 minutes [actually 10 in NBA Live minutes] from making history," said Artest. "I guess history will have to wait until Wednesday."
"One game," said Wade. "Can it get more exciting?"

Home, sweet, home.
The Bulls returned home for Game 7 of their series against Indiana and vanquished the Pacers with a surprisingly easy 120-93 win at the United Center.
"Not sure what happened," said Dwyane Wade of the little resistance offered by Indiana. "That's why you guys [the media] are the analysts, not me. You tell me."
The Bulls led from start to finish, opening with a 14-point advantage in the first quarter and coasting all the way, to the delight of the home crowd.
Amare Stoudemire again led all scorers with 34 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals. It was the fifth time in the 7 games that he led the team in scoring, and the fourth time he has led all scorers. He was named the game and the series MVP.
"As a team, we played much better tonight," said Bulls head coach Scott Skiles. "Especially defensively."
Reggie Miller led the Pacers with 28 points but had only 1 rebound and no assists. Ron Artest added 23 points but only had 3 rebounds and 1 assist. Jermaine O'Neal was held to 10 points.
"Defense is always the key," said LeBron James, who scored 28 points and 5 rebounds. "We stepped it up tonight."
Dirk Nowitzki had a double-double with 18 points, a game-high 10 rebounds and 6 assists for the Bulls. Colicky Boy added 25 points, 4 boards and a game-high 9 assists. Dwyane Wade only scored 8 points but grabbed 8 boards and had 8 assists.
While the Bulls celebrated, the Pacers were devastated.
"To come this close and lose two straight games is heartbreaking," said O'Neal.

Playoff preview: Bulls vs Cavaliers![]()
Chad Ford
ESPN Insider
2004-05 history:
The Bulls swept the season series 4-0, winning the first three games by an average of 59 points, and winning the last game by only 7.
Key injuries:
Pacers - none.
Bulls - none.
Matchups:
Center
Zydrunas Ilgauskas is an imposing figure in the paint. His biggest weakness is his lack of mobility, which happens to be a strength of Bulls' counterpart Amare Stoudemire.
Advantage: BULLS
Power forward
Cleveland's Drew Gooden is young and athletic but like Indiana's Jonathan Bender, is also unpolished. The Bulls' Dirk Nowitzki is an accomplished scorer, both inside and out.
Advantage: BULLS
Small forward
Former Bull Luol Deng has played well in the playoffs so far. He can shoot from outside, is an able dribbler to take it inside, and is a solid passer with good court vision. Yet he is overmatched by the talented LeBron James.
Advantage: BULLS
Shooting guard
One thing that former Bull Eric Piatkowski excels is in shooting the three. Unfortunately, he'll need more than that to matchup against Colicky Boy. Even worse, Piatkowski can't beat Colicky Boy (or anyone else) off the dribble and is immobile on defense.
Advantage: BULLS
Point guard
Dwyane Wade has developed into an all-around star with the Bulls, elevating his passing to the level of his scoring and doing a solid job on the boards as well. He's a good enough defender to outdo former Bull Kirk Hinrich, a tenacious defender and competitive scorer in his own right.
Advantage: BULLS
Bench
Robert Traylor, Jeff McInnis and three-ball specialist Jiri Welsch make up a respectable bench. The Bulls...uh...hmm...
Advantage: CAVALIERS
Coaching
Paul Silas survived rumors of a pink slip by shockingly taking this team to the conference finals without James. Now his coaching strategy calls for not only containing former Cav James but also Wade, Stoudemire, Nowitzki, etc. Scott Skiles survived seven-game scare with Indiana, which should sharpen him for this series and beyond.
Advantage: EVEN
Intangibles
The Bulls were just stretched to the limit by Indiana while Cleveland had a surprisingly easy time against a tough Philadelphia team. Will the Bulls be mentally ready for another series right away?
Advantage: CAVALIERS
Predicted winner: Bulls in six.
