Allen, Celtics Too Much For Blazers
Brilliant games from Roy, Aldridge not enough

Image
Brandon Roy had a good game on the offensive end but...

Celtics 105, Trail Blazers 94

June 15, 2012; Boston, MA - The Boston Celtics have drawn first blood in the 2012 NBA Finals, ousting the Blazers 105-94 in game one. Overcoming huge games from Portland's LaMarcus Aldridge and Brandon Roy, Boston's offense went off in the second half.

The first half was close, with a plethora of lead changes. Both teams led by as much as six points before entering halftime tied at 42. Halftime would prove to be the turning point as the Celtics caught fire in the third quarter. Ray Allen was unconscious from three while Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo continued to play well. Portland meanwhile was lost on D, but were kept in the game by who else but LaMarcus Aldridge.

Portland made a few runs late in the third and in the fourth, but ultimately, the Celtic lead would prove insurmountable. The game was clinched for the home team when Ray Allen sank a dagger three to put them up 10 with under two minutes remaining. The Blazers will try to knot the series in game two in Boston before the next two or three games are to be played in Portland.

Celtics lead series 1-0.

Allen's so tough to guard, you pretty much have to deny him the ball which opens up space for the others. Aldridge did quite well against KG on offense, but seems like you were pretty much outrebounded as Oden and Aldridge only combined for 11 boards.

Good luck next game!

Yoo need someone else to step up, looks like LA and Roy can't do it by themselves.

Exact same as Martti, Oden, Felton, anyone really has gotta show up to help Roy and Aldridge in Game 2.

Blazers Knot Series With Fourth Quarter Run
Aldridge, Wallace Out-Duel Pierce, Allen

Image
Crash has a big game and... Blazers win!

Trail Blazers 93, Celtics 85

June 17, 2012; Boston, MA - "I think that if we can limit our turnovers and lock them down on D, we have a real shot at tying this series" - not Prometheus, but Blazers' coach Nate McMillan, whose Blazers have tied the NBA Finals at a game apiece.

Boston got out to a bit of an early lead, finishing the first quarter up five. The lead wouldn't reach double digits nor change hands in the first quarter, as Gerald Wallace kept the Blazers in the game with his efficient offense. The score read Boston 46, Portland 40 at intermission.

Things heated up in the third, as both teams got hot from the field. Ray Allen and Paul Pierce were hitting shot after shot, while LaMarcus Aldridge went to work for Portland. Portland tasted the lead a couple times in the third quarter, but would enter the final period trailing by three.

The fourth quarter saw the lead change hands many times, before Boston went on a small run to lead by 7. Nate McMillan called his final timeout to bring the Blazers' starting five in, despite poor play from Brandon Roy and foul trouble for Greg Oden. The Blazers locked down on D and eventually took an 86-85 lead with under a minute to go in the game. A fumbled Rondo pass led to a fastbreak Roy three that would ultimately put the game away. Aldridge sank two pairs of free throws to seal the deal for Portland, 93-85.

The scoring duos of Aldridge and Gerald Wallace for Portland and Paul Pierce and Ray Allen for Boston each combined for 50 points. However, it took 29 shots for Portland's duo to 37 for the Celtics'. With the series tied, the series will now shift to Portland, where the next three games in the series will be played at the Rose Garden.

Series tied 1-1.

Celtics Hold Off Blazers To Take 3-1 Lead
Turnovers, Missed Free Throws Will Pit Blazers Against History

Image
Rondo has been the rock for Boston in this playoff run

Celtics 97, Trail Blazers 94

June 22, 2012; Portland, OR - "Turnovers. Fucking turnovers," went Nate McMillan's controversial three second post-game press conference. After having a chance to win, Portland's poor control of the ball has once again cost them, and has the team in a 3-1 hole in these NBA Finals.

The first half was closely contested, with Kevin Garnett playing very well and leading the Celtics to a five point lead at the half. He had 20 points at halftime. The third saw both teams play better defensively, and the Celtics build their lead, at times being up double digits. Other than Aldridge, Portland had trouble scoring the basketball, and entered the fourth quarter down nine points.

The fourth quarter saw the Blazers make a couple runs to take the lead. The first was sparked by seven straight points by Brandon Roy, but Boston bounced back with steals on consecutive defensive possessions. Aldridge and Oden were carrying the Blazers through the fourth, and with great hustle, turned a 7 point deficit with under 2 minutes left into a Boston 95, Portland 94 score with 13 seconds left. The Blazers had to foul and Paul Pierce sank both free throws. A three pointer for Brandon Roy was anticipated, and Gerald Wallace was forced to take the three for Portland.

Airball. The Celtics take a 3-1 lead in this series, and can close the series out in game 5 at the Rose Garden. "It's great to win it all on our home court and all but really I just think we're gonna win anyway," said Rajon Rondo after the game.

Celtics lead series 3-1.

The X, Justine., Valor, hova-, Ye of little faith. :scold:

kc2135, Yeah, the reason game 3 didn't get a proper recap is because I'm already on season 2, and wasn't going to write a recap for a game I didn't remember. The coverage will be low-key, X-style since the lockout is ending, but I intend on finishing two seasons here.
