Brooks, Duncan leads Spurs to blowout Thunder and take Game 3
SAN ANTONIO -- The San Antonio Spurs received numerous negative comments and response from what the Spurs management did in the trade deadline, guess they should be happy right now.
Aaron Brooks accepted all the criticisms as he arrived in San Antonio, but now he must earn a plenty amount of respect, as he scored 33 points on a efficient 11-of-16 shooting including 8-of-12 from downtown to help the Spurs blowout and take the Game 3 of their series against the Thunder, 127-97. Brooks three-point barrage in the third quarter where he made six threes to led the Spurs dominate the third quarter, 40-28. In the outing, Brooks also had 10 assists.
The Spurs opened the game with a big lead over the Thunder and kept it. Tim Duncan also played at his best by scoring 22 points and grabbing 14 rebounds while Manu Ginobili slightly finished the game with a triple-double, 19 points, 12 rebounds and eight steals. Two other players scored double figures, Richard Jefferson and James Anderson each scored 14 and 13 points respectively for the Spurs who shot 55% from the field and made 14 of their 29 attempts in three point land. They also had the upperhand with their bench production, 37-23.
Spurs opened their series against the Thunder on their home and stole the Game 1from them by a small margin, in the next game, Spurs thought they had it again, but Jeff Green's hook shot squandered the Spurs' fury. With all these three games, Brooks led the Spurs in terms of scoring.
Russell Westbrook led the Thunder with 31 points, and Green scored 23 points. Kevin Durant surprisingly struggled all night, finishing only 3-of-16 from the field for just nine points, his lowest points scored in this season. Adding to the insult, Durant also wasted the team's possession five times.
Thunder also struggled in the rebounding department, only grabbing 26 compared to Spurs' 45. Brooks cooled off in the fourth quarter as he rested the last eight minutes of the game.
