Yep, Bogut has been strong of late. Jennings has been solid, but I hope he can elevate his game to next level next season as we need it.

I see Bogut as a 2nd tier big man. He can't hang with the elite guys whose athleticism is too much for Bogie, but he can be like a Brad Miller (in his prime) or Vlade Divac or Chris Kaman, which is using his fundamentals, passing ability & smarts to be my franchise's centre in the long term.

As for Brandon Jennings, he just seems like a Kenny Anderson clone to me, but hopefully more longevity (Y)

Lamrock wrote:Congrats on finishing your first season. That epic failure of a second half of the season will play dividends when you get Turner.

It was indeed an epic failure. I actually was under the assumption that I could squeeze into the 8th playoff spot. Then Bogut got injured, some trades & the team never recovered. I'm guessing at this stage I'm going to end up with either Wall, Turner, Henry or Favors. Might all depend on workouts.

Sit wrote:John Wall, John Wall, John Wall... err... Will Sit. Will Sit. Will Sit. :)

Yep, I could see you both being the 1st picks....one in the 1st Round & one in the 2nd Round

C-77 wrote:Draft Turner :headbang: pls although John Wall wouldn't be so bad I'd like to see a Jennings-Wall Backcourt trash-talking with each other

I'll just have to see what the lottery turns out. Turner seems like more of a guy who can work in Milwaukee rather than John Wall, but we shall see.

3PK wrote:It will be interesting to see where 9-20 places you amongst the lottery - Have you considered taking someone like a Favors, Patterson or Monroe? Or are you leaning more towards Turner/Wall?

I've got equal worst record with Jazz & T'wolves but I believe on 2k tiebreak (probably still alphabetical  ), I now am third best chance of winning the top overall pick. As mentioned above, Wall, Turner, Henry & Favors are probably top 4 on my board, then maybe Patterson. But it will depend on workouts I have with each player. I've made the mistake in the past of drafting by positional need, but frankly I need to take the best available talent. I'm only sorted at centre and point guard. I'm sure Wall can play shooting guard, even if not ideal. The rest of the guys in the top 7 or 8 fill the positions of my need. Wouldn't mind getting a 2nd top 10 pick, but heck, who wouldn't :P

Ah I always saw Bogie as a Brad Miller v 2.0. (Y)

And 31st pick aint that bad... thats near where Arenas was drafted. I'm a better blogger than him too. And I can learn to draw a gun quicker than he can!

I did too until I realise that Brad Miller could develop a sweet midrange jumper. Bogut just hasn't added that yet. He needs to add it within 2 years (Y) Maybe I should do some training with him in the game. I didn't actually do any practices or developmental drills for any players during the season

As for picks, it'll be a surprise as even I don't know. Everybody seems like a bubble 1st Rounder but it appears one of us is moving up the draft boards. Who could it be?!? :o

Disappointingly once the Hawks had wrapped up the East they pulled their foot off the accelerator and lost 3 out of last 5 guys, otherwise they would've had a great record :P

Jazz missed Deron for about a month & they even lost to the Bucks  Trading away Eric Maynor to Thunder hurt too. Okur had a very ordinary season.

Yep, Bulls were looking good until Derrick Rose got injured late in the season & they could no longer rely on him to carry the team.

Re: X's Bucks Dynasty (9-20) *SEASON SUMMARY PART 2*

Tue Jan 05, 2010 8:11 pm

2009/10 SEASON SUMMARY - PART TWO

PLAYER AWARDS

MOST VALUABLE PLAYER

SF- Lebron James (Cleveland)
29.9ppg (4th in NBA), 47% FG, 33% 3Pt, 72% FT, 10.9rpg, 7.1apg, 1.9spg, 1.7bpg

This was pretty much a gimme as Lebron put the team on his back after recovering from nagging injuries and took them from 10th place in the East to 3rd place after the All-Star break, without the help of new arrival Michael Redd (tore ACL). This is Lebron's second MVP as he goes back-to-back for the first time since Steve Nash did it last decade. It's not hard to imagine Lebron winning another half dozen of these before his career is over, he's just that good.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF YEAR

PF- Josh Smith (Atlanta)
17.7ppg, 53% FG, 40% 3Pt, 52% FT, 11.6rpg, 2.6spg (5th in NBA), 3.6bpg (1st in NBA)

Nice to see the way Josh Smith's game has developed over the last two seasons, culminating in this award. Smith was easily the league leading Hawks' most important player, dominating the game at the defensive end.

ROOKIE OF YEAR

PG- Stephen Curry (Golden State)
20.6ppg, 44% FG, 39% 3Pt, 87% FT, 4.0apg, 1.1spg

Stephen Curry edged out All-Star Brandon Jennings for this honour. I get the feeling that team records was taken into account, with the Warriors returning to the playoffs. Nonetheless a well-deserved honour for the former Davidson star.

6th MAN OF YEAR

C- Marcus Camby (Los Angeles Clippers)
6.8ppg, 48% FG, 67% FT, 8.7rpg, 2.2bpg

This was an interesting one as reports were leaked that Kings' rookie guard Tyreke Evans had secured this award, however Marcus Camby ended up taking it. Either would've been a good pick, but in my humble opinion nice to see the veteran bigman get the nod. I think Tyreke missing a bunch of games mid-season was the only thing that kept him from being the first rookie since Ben Gordon to win this award.

MOST IMPROVED PLAYER

SG- Chris Douglas-Roberts (New Jersey Nets)
12.5ppg, 43% FG, 24% 3Pt, 86% FT, 6.4rpg, 1.1spg

CDR narrowly edged out Detroit's Ben Wallace (why is not a Comeback Player of the Year award?) for this honour. In the pre-season CDR surprisingly beat out Courtney Lee as the Nets' starting shooting guard. It obviously was a good move by coach Lawrence Frank, as the Nets shocked all by qualifying as the 7th seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs. CDR is a scorer who can score in a multitude of ways and it wouldn't surprise me to see him continue to improve his scoring clip over the next few seasons.

COACH OF YEAR

Mike Woodson (Atlanta Hawks)
6th season with Hawks, 2009/10 Record: 21-8 [59-23]

There was a lot of rumours floating around a few seasons ago that the Hawks would fire Mike Woodson. Hawks' front office staff will be glad they didn't as this team has gone from strength to strength, improving significantly each season (13 wins in his first season to 59 wins now in his sixth season) as they focus on defense first. The highflying Hawks picked up a league best 59 wins during the regular season and now enter the playoffs with much higher expectations. Anything less than an NBA Finals appearance would have to be deemed a disappointment.

PLAYER ACCOLADES

All-NBA Teams (1st/2nd/3rd)
C- D. Howard (Orl)/Yao (Hou)/E. Okafor (NOH)
PF- D. Nowitzki (Dal)/J. Smith (Atl)/A. Jefferson (Min)
SF- L. James (Cle)/D. Granger (Ind)/C. Anthony (Den)
SG- D. Wade (Mia)/K. Bryant (LAL)/M. Ellis (GSW)
PG- D. Harris (NJN)/C. Paul (NOH)/T. Parker (SAS)

All-Defensive Teams (1st/2nd)
C- B. Wallace (Det)/D. Howard (Orl)
PF- J. Smith (Atl)/A. Jefferson (Min)
SF- G. Wallace (Cha)/L. James (Cle)
SG- D. Wade (Mia)/T. Ariza (Hou)
PG- J. Kidd (Dal)/C. Paul (NOH)

All-Rookie Teams (1st/2nd)
PG- S. Curry (GSW)/J. Flynn (Min)
PG- B. Jennings (Mil)/E. Maynor (OKC)
SG- T. Evans (Sac)/W. Ellington (Min)
PF- B. Griffin (LAC)/T. Hansbrough (Ind)
SG- J. Harden (OKC)/T. Williams (NJN)

I had to take some liberties with swapping around the rookie teams as 2k does it by position & there were no good SF and C rookie prospects (e.g. Thabeet was All-1st Rookie Team despite average 0.8ppg & David Andersen was All-2nd Rookie Team despite only appeared in one game all season and scored 7 points  ). Also IRL Rookie teams are not by position, just by the best rookies.

Lebron was simply the best. Although I did think Josh Smith should've been in the All-NBA 1st Team as last I checked he was 2nd in running in MVP race. Blame it on all those terrible media voters who follow prior year trends

wow

Harris averaged about 27ppg and led the Nets to the promised land (i.e. playoffs). I don't know what Paul averaged, but it was probably around 20ppg with about 9apg & 3spg, but the team wasn't as good. Harris was the right pick

As for Ben Wallace, he was back to his old Pistons' days  Fifth in the league in blocks (2.7bpg), got his one or two steals per game and picked up about 9-10 boards per game as the team's starting centre. I guess voters just feared Big Ben more than Superman :P

Big Ben rejuvenated!

Too bad that Curry beat Jennings for ROY. Get Turner from the draft, although if Wall is still on the board you should pick the the best player available.

Yep, but I think Curry deserved it in the end due to the Bucks' dismal record. Was a pretty close race though.

As for draft, yes, Turner seems like just what my team needs, but we shall see. Would be too hard to pass on Wall I'd say, but we shall see :D

Oh man lotta updates in here. You really finished with a league-worst 9-20. That's tough, but it will be very cool to see the lottery balls rollin' as you will have the biggest chance despite the Jazz and the Wolves being just as bad as you.

Some of those pics are very cool. The red jersey is sexy I have to say.
Taking a look at your roster I would sort out a lotta guys: lets me see ...

Finley and Z will be gone anyway I guess. Than I'd try to get rid of Ridnour (I just can't stand him), Gibson and Gadzuric (both with impossible contracts if I remember correctly) and Jones (gone anyway).

Leaves you with:

Bogut - Powe - Delfino - Bell - Jennings - Warrick (if you can resign him for low) - Mbah A Moute - Ilyasova - Meeks (needs to play more, I like him)

Given you add Turner (but I guess it will be a long decision if you really get the number one pick ... alá best available or fill a vacant spot) and maybe can sign a decent FA at PF (Gooden, T. Thomas maybe even Camby, Lee or Haslem ... dunno :) ) you will have a decent squad. A role player here and there and then let's get to playoffs.

Meeks, yes, he'll get a chance in his 2nd year. He spent half the season in D-League & did alright (about 10ppg and shot about 50 FG/45 3Pt from floor). I usually honestly don't give 2nd Rounders much burn in 1st year but they get a good chance in 2nd year.

Gibson & Gadzuric will be back although I'm pretty sure Gadz has a big expiring contract so he could be a valuable trading chip or additional cap space. I agree Warrick is likely to return if for right money. I should have enough money to get a good player & might also have my MLE to use (if it's available).

Funnily enough I might actually bring Z back as Bogie's backup as he played pretty solidly. He's a nice backup to have. That's if I can get him back really cheap on a 1 year deal that is :P

Anyways, you think I should do some chemistry messing with Wade & Bosh since both didn't make playoffs so they become free agents. I'm more inclined to do Wade for some reason. He seems less loyal than Bosh & Miami aren't as good a roster as Toronto.

Re: X's Bucks Dynasty (9-20) *SEASON SUMMARY p.6*

Tue Jan 05, 2010 10:34 pm

You should try to get Wade or Bosh leaving. But it's harder than I thought. Bosh even stayed happy when I put him at unpreditable and benchwarmer role because he was just so god damn happy with his Raptors being at 10-22. But try your best, I don't think both would stay if there was no real perspective on their teams.

Gadz contract might really be good for some deals. If you can keep Z than I'd try it. I don't think it will be for low money though since the only reason for him playing for the Bucks could be money :)

Gonna be an exciting offseason for you. You must take Wall if hes avaliable, will be interesting what you do with that situation though, would maybe be easier to just take a different player to avoid having to decide who to trade out of Wall and Jennings.
