Gordon sends defending champs home early with buzzer-beating 3
Image

Boston, MA - There was 3 seconds left in the game, and the Celtics were up by 1, Ben Gordon came off a screen, caught the ball from the Odom pass, and while still having Paul Pierce in his face, faded back and fired the 3 ball as the buzzer sounded.......and HE DRILLED IT. The Entire Boston Crowd stood stunned as the shot swished through the Net, and the Bulls began to celebrate right there in front of a devastated Celtics bench.

Ben Gordon scored 39 points, did not miss a single 3 point attempt (6-6 from 3) including the game winner at the buzzer, to help the Chicago Bulls knock off the defending champs 107-105 and advances to the Eastern Conference Finals.

"it's just an amazing feeling, that one was definitely the biggest shot of my career so far, not to mention this victory is the best of my career" said Gordon after the game, he took home Player of the Game honors after his stellar play of 39 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steals from 15 for 23 shooting from the field in 32 minutes of play.

Lamar Odom had a triple double of 12 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists in 32 minutes of play, shooting 6 for 15 from the field; while Derrick Rose, who had a specular game 6, had a double double performance with 16 points and 12 assists, he also grabbed 5 rebounds, but turned the ball over 5 times.

"What can you say, Ben saved us big time, he's clutch" said Odom after the game "The rest of the team wasn't shooting well and turned the ball over quite a bit, so he lifted us on his shoulders and saved the day"

The defending champs were led by Rajon Rondo, who had 23 points, 12 assists, and 5 rebounds from 10 for 19 shooting in the loss, he had plenty of help, with 7 Celtics scoring in double figures, however, it wasn't enough as they fell to Gordon's clutch game winning 3 pointer

"Totally my fault" said Pierce after the game "i should have defended that play better"

"It's a disappointing loss, but you gotta live with it, i thought Paul did a decent job defending the play, just better offense from them" said Celtics Coach Doc Rivers "We'll be back"

Game Notes: Odom's triple double is his 4th career playoff triple double, he had 16 in the regular season and 28 career triple doubles in the regular season......The Bulls are now in the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since MJ's last season as a Bull....Kevin Garnett had to be restrained from hitting himself after the loss....

Nice win! I knew you would pull it off. KG had a shitty game though. No wonder he was hitting himself.

thanks :P indeed, instead of whacking his chest like he does after winning a game, he was pounding his head

thierryhenry50 wrote:YES! Ben perfect from beyond the arc, incredible win. So now you're playing Pistons?

:) Ben was HUGE for me, and no, not the Pistons.....somehow the Magic are owning this season, first killing off Cleveland in the first round then killed the Pistons...maybe i am next on DH12 and co's list...

:D certainly hope so, however, as i said, the Magic are on a roll and they'll be hard to stop

Thanks! these kinds of hustle plays are crucial when you want to win a game against a great defensive team like the Celtics, get the loose ball and turn it into a transition game.

yup, i am not surprised at the Mavs being knocked out though...they were facing the Lakers afterall, as for the Pistons....hey, if the Magic are capable of kicking the Cavs' ass, then it wont be that much more difficult to defeat the Pistons..

Gordon, Odom defeat Magic, Bulls loses Rose to Injury
Image

Chicago, IL - Lamar Odom had a triple double, Ben Gordon added in 27 points, was again perfect from beyond the arc, and hit the game winning shot with 0.2 seconds remaining in the game to give the Chicago Bulls a 116-114 victory over Jameer Nelson and the Orlando Magic in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

But victory came at a heavy price.

Bulls' top rookie Derrick Rose suffered a dislocated shoulder after crashing into the stands while trying to save a loose ball midway through the third quarter, he did not return to action and would be reportingly missing the rest of the postseason. Rose had 14 points and 11 assists in 22 minutes of play before the injury occured; he is the Bulls' assist leader in the postseason with 12.73 dimes per game. His speed, quickness, defence, and the ability to create offence for himself and his teammates would be dearly missed by Chicago.

Lamar Odom had his second consective triple double, his 5th career playoff triple double with 21 points, 14 rebounds, 10 assists in 30 minutes; Ben Gordon scored 27 points from an incredible 12 for 15 shooting from the field and a perfect 3 for 3 from beyond the arc, his second consective game in which he hasn't missed a 3-ball, Barbosa added in 18 points and 5 rebounds off the bench, and Sean Williams had another double-double with 14 points, 11 rebounds and a game high 3 block shots to help the Bulls overcome the adversity to win.

"You know, when Derrick went down, it was a big shock to us but Lamar told us to keep our composure, and thats what we did" said Ben Gordon after the game, this is the second consective game in which he has nailed the game winning shot for his team. "this game is for Derrick, we hope he'll recover soon and be back with us"

The Magic were led by Jameer Nelson, who took advantage in Rose's absent and scored 30 of his game high 32 points in the second half, he would finish the game with 32 points, 10 assists, and 3 steals from 12 for 19 shooting from the field and 6 for 10 from behind the arc. Rashard Lewis added in 21 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists, while Dwight Howard had a medicore game with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Man, i love your dynasty. I made my own Bull's . The lineup would be Rose, Mayo ( didn't like the Gordon's shooting stroke, i always missed ), Shawn Marion, Lamar Odom ( because he owns in here, so i am going to try him out ) , Brook Lopez, Josh Childress, Gerald Green ( man hes dunks are unbelivable ), Lindsey Hunter, Joakim Noah.... and other players who arent any good...just to clear the cap.. :D What do u think? :D

but yeah, i hope u get your title. Beat the crap out of Magic...and whoever is going to face you in the finals.
Odom is real beast for you :D but i'm sad because LeBron didn't win the MVP :?

Damn, no Rose will be tough. But you still have Odom. Nice win and hope you win game #2!

thanks man, as for your team...it's a little too..star studded if you ask me...rose+mayo+marion+odom+lopez starting lineup and a bench that includes childress, green and noah? your moves are quite good, but it's also as unrealistic as hell...

Martti. wrote:Damn, no Rose will be tough. But you still have Odom. Nice win and hope you win game #2!

Indeed it will, he's the driving force behind my offense and my outside defense...i hope just having Odom, Gordon around would be enough...

yup, very tough losing him...Rose has just been very unlucky for me in his rookie season...getting injuries all the time... :(

Magic loses Nelson in Game 2 Win Over Rose-less Bulls
Image

Chicago, IL - Two nights ago, the Chicago Bulls lost their starting point guard to injury and managed to pull out a win, tonight, it happened for the Magic, as they had a 11 point win over the Rose-less Chicago Bulls despite losing starting guard Jameer Nelson to injury late in the second quarter.

Nelson, who had 32 points and 10 assists in game 1, took a charge from Bulls guard Leandro Barbosa and did not get up, grabbing his leg in apparent pain, he was helped off the court by the trainer and some teammates, and did not return, he was diagonosed with a strained achillies which would sideline him from as less as 1 week to season ending.

The Bulls played without their star rookie Derrick Rose, and could not pull off a late 4th quarter comeback despite fantastic play from Odom, Williams, and Gordon. Odom had a triple double of 33 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists, this is his 6th triple double of this postseason (and career postseason) and his 3rd straight. Sean Williams almost had a triple double with a 19 point, 21 rebounds (9 offensive), 8 assists performance (he had 10 points and 15 rebounds at the end of the first half) while Ben Gordon, who won the previous games for the Bulls at the buzzer, dropped in 23 points.

Orlando was led by an unlikely hero, Mickel Pietrus had his career playoff high 30 points and added 5 rebounds and 4 assists, Dwight Howard had a good game as well, scoring 20 points and grabbing 9 boards to add to the cause, Rookie Courtney Lee had 8 points, 5 rebounds, and 8 assists coming off the bench, and the Magic used a strong 1st quarter and 3rd quarter to take the win, 115-104.

The Series is now tied at 1 game a-piece and would shift to Orlando for game 3.

thierryhenry50 wrote:Tough loss Valor, it will be a different series now with both point guards out.

Indeed it will be, but i might have the disadvantage due to Barbosa's inability to play defense and Snow being injured too...all their players are shooters so whoever replaces Nelson would have an easy time scoring..... :?

Where Injuries Happen....Magic takes win behind Bogan's big shot
Image

Orlando, FL - Keith Bogans recieved the inbounds pass from Rashard Lewis after several screens that led to a Bulls defense breakdown, Bogans pulled up and shot the 3 ball with 4.7 seconds remaining and with Ben Gordon sprinting at him....the sound of the swish was heard and the soldout crowd in Amway Arena cheered with joy, Bogans was hugged and praised by his team as the Magic celebrate their game 3 victory.

however, there was a slight setback to their otherwise fantastic game.

Mickel Pietrus, the Magic starting two guard who scored 30 in game 2, went down with an injury within the first 30 seconds of the game, he dived for the loose ball and crashed into the advertisment board, he got up but was holding his right shoulder in apparent pain, Pietrus was escorted back to the locker room with the Magic trainer, he was diagnosed with a dislocated shoulder which was snapped back into place by trainers, he will be available for game 4.

This injury is the thrid postseason ending one in this series, In game 1 it was Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls, game 2 Jameer Nelson of the Magic, and this time, it's Pietrus; all of them are starters for their respective teams and would be dearly missed by them.

The Magic were led by Dwight Howard and Rashard Lewis, the former earning player of the game honors after a 16 point, 12 rebound, 4 assist performance and was helped with 26 points and 8 rebounds by Lewis.
Anthony Johnson started in place of the injured Nelson and almost had a triple double with 9 points, 8 rebounds, and 12 assists. But none had a bigger night then Keith Bogans, who had 11 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists in 17 minutes off the bench, hitting his only 3 of the game to give the Magic a 92-90 game 3 win over the Chicago Bulls to swing the series in Orlando's favor, 2-1.

Chicago's Lamar Odom had his fourth consective triple double (7th career triple double)with 28 points, 10 rebounds, and a career playoff high 16 assists in 36 minutes of play, going 13 for 20 from the field while Ben Gordon dropped in 27 points from 11 for 17 field goal shooting, including 5 for 9 from beyond the arc. But thats about it for the Bulls.

"Lamar and Ben played great tonight, but thats not enough for us to win a game, we need everybody" said Bulls head coach Vinny Del Negro at the end of the game "basketball is a team sport, if only 2 guys in your team show up to play, the team aint gonna win"

Game 4 will be back here in Orlando, where the Bulls hope to even the series to 2-2.
