AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) -- Rip Hamilton scored 26 points and 4 steals for the Detroit Pistons, but it wasn't enough, as the Boston Celtics defeated the current Eastern Conference champions.

The final score was 123-114 for Paul Pierce's team, who had 30-7-7.

Wallace outduels Yao

HOUSTON (AP) -- Ben Wallace had 26 points and 12 rebounds in 10-for-12 shooting to lead the Detroit Pistons to a 130-107 win over the Houston Rockets.

Jason Maxiell again showed his quality play: 16 points and 5 assists.

Yao Ming led Houston with 33 points, followed by Tracy McGrady and Rafer Alston (21 each).

"It was a really nice game," Maxiell said. "We finished it in the 3rd."

"Well, a 23-point loss is never good," McGrady added. "We need more work."

Defensive Pistons slow down Mavericks

DALLAS (AP) -- Rip Hamilton had 19 points in 6-for-7 shooting and led the Pistons to a 108-93 win over the Mavs.

Jason Maxiell again broke 10-point barrier and scored 14.

"We did an outstanding job of taking care of the ball,'' said Hamilton.

Excellent games here man, tough match against PP and the Celts. But great games against Rockets and Mavs. Good to see Maxiell keeping his strong play going.

Tough loss against the Celtics, Pierce was on fire.
Big win against the Rockets, good to see Big Ben getting it done on the offensive end as well as the defence.
The defence came up big as usual and an impressive win against the Mavericks. Good luck in the future.
