Markovic!!!!

I wanna see an Aussie invasion in the NBA!! Plus this would be something different and unique in your dynasty. You could also try CJ Burton (spelling?) from Sydney Kings. Supposedly he nearly got picked up by the raptors before they signed Jose. If it's neither of those 2 I say stick with Smush and wait out to the draft. (Y)

Wed Nov 02, 2005 7:58 pm

Banks is real good, and Dixon is nice too, I like those guys, so id say them (Y)

Wed Nov 02, 2005 9:44 pm

put in Markovic!!!!!!

Wed Nov 02, 2005 10:36 pm

Give Smush a shot, he should do well..

Wed Nov 02, 2005 11:12 pm

Nice read. And I rarely read dynasty articles but that was kinda interesting

I kinda like Smush and Pargo

Wed Nov 02, 2005 11:22 pm

keep ur dynasty realistic and start Smush Parker as PG
i hope andrew has him in his patch though...

Wed Nov 02, 2005 11:42 pm

i am thinking using barbosa and parker.
barbosa seemed pretty good when he played against me. 19 points and like 8 assists in 25 minutes?

or maybe i just suck at one on one defense? haha

Lakers Set Final Roster
Kobe Bryant Set to Lead Team to Playoffs...

Image
ABOVE: Are Lamar Odom (Left) and Kobe BRyant (Right) capable of putting LA back in the playoffs?

1 Nov, Los AngelesGeneral Manager Will Sit cut down his final roster to 15 players today before the first game of the NBA season. The Lakers are reportedly excited about the new NBA season as they feel that critics are wrong about the team not reaching the postseason. Team captain Kobe Bryant said, “Everyone is going to say we are a lock for the lottery this year but I believe that we are a good team who can cause a few surprises.”

Phil Jackson and his coaching staff are expected to mould the Lakers into a poor man’s Chicago Bulls team from the first three-peat with Bryant starring as the Michael Jordan, Lamar Odom as a poor man’s Scottie Pippen and Kwame Brown trying to develop into a Horace Grant-like player. “Kobe, Lamar and Kwame are our core and we expect it to stay that way,” Jackson told an interviewer, “We have potential to become a great team one day.”

The Lakers’ projected starters and who they represent for the Bulls’ championship teams are listed below:

- C Chris Mihm: This guy needs to learn how to move around the court especially in the full court press. Consistency has always been an issue with Mihm and once he solves thios, he could be a solid big man, ala Luc Longley.

- PF Kwame Brown: Great talent with little confidence. Kwame needs a confidence boost to play like he’s supposed to. He’s got great hands and can rebound well while his shot blocking is impressive. He can become like a Horace Grant one day.

- SF Lamar Odom: Watch for Odom to start games at PG once Luke Walton is ready to start in his place and also once Odom learns to play that position. The 6’10” guy has all the kills necessary and just needs to improve his decision making to become a true point-forward and a Pippen clone.

- SG Kobe Bryant: Bryant will be playing more of a SF role for the Lakers as he will most likely be on the wing rather than being the man who initiates the offence. As he continues his quest to be one of the best 2 guards in the NBA’s history, Bryant finally has become the number one option in the triangle just like Michael Jordan.

- PG Aaron McKie: Despite Smush Parker returning from injury, McKie will most probably get the nod from Jax to start. McKie who is in the twilight of his career provides a big body and defence to the team much like Ron Harper did for the Bulls.

- Sixth Man Devean George: The swingman can score from off of the bench and since it’s a contract ending year, expect him to play his heart out. Much like Toni Kukoc in the 90’s, George will be expected to come in and nail the open threes and longs twos every single night.

Lakers Depth Chart as of Nov 1

C: Mihm | Bynum |
PF: Brown | Medvedenko | Cook |
SF: Odom | George | Walton |
SG: Bryant | Profit |
PG: McKie | Parker |

IR: Wafer | Green | Vujacic |

1. Smush Parker 7 votes
2. Leandro Barbosa 5 votes
3. Steven Markovic 3 votes, Derek Fisher 3 votes
4. Juan Dixon 2 votes, Jannero Pargo 2 votes, Marcus Banks 2 votes

Fellas, I think that we have these clear front runners: Smush and Barbosa. I'll add in Fish and Markovic. Now, can you all tell me who you want to start and be the major backup out of these 4 along with McKie.

Start: Parker
Bench: Markovic

What do you all think?

Thu Nov 03, 2005 1:46 am

Good article, nice to read about the players, and their comparison the the Bulls, I think that you should put Barbosa at the starter, and Smush at the back-up.

Thu Nov 03, 2005 1:58 am

Both articles are really nice (Y)

Thu Nov 03, 2005 6:53 am

This is my favorite dynasty on here, keep up the good work. :D

Thu Nov 03, 2005 9:21 am

keep it up sit great dynasty, haha markovic bout time he left that shit league

Thu Nov 03, 2005 2:07 pm

I would take Smush as your starter and with Markovic as a development player off the bench. Then you can Mckie play the 1 and 2 as an experienced back-up.

Fri Nov 04, 2005 2:17 am

Smush Parker man. After seeing what he did against Denver, I'm pretty convinced that he has the potential to be a very good player in this league.

Lakers’ Season Opener Down to the Wire
Odom has breakthrough game, Bryant’s 41 not enough to win

Image
ABOVE: Jannero Pargo (15) sinks the three to tie the game with 1:05 remaining

2 Nov, Chicago – Tyson Chandler and Kirk Hinrich made sure that the Bulls would win their second straight game as they ran away with a three point win over the visiting LA Lakers. The Lakers couldn’t keep the momentum on their side at the very end of the game as they dropped an impressive 12 point lead with 4 minutes left in the match.

Tyson Chandler recorded 20 and 20, Kirk Hinrich shot his way to 33 points and 6 assists and Mike Sweetney added 17 and 12. The Lakers were led by Bryant’s 41 points and 8 assists and Lamar Odom’s 22, 8 and 10.

On the night where Lakers’ assistant coach Scottie Pippen saw his jersey number 33 retried, there were mixed feelings between the two sides. The grand reunion of all of the players who had played for the Bulls between the years of 1990-1998 may have sent shivers down the backs of the younger generation of players as the group were introduced pre-game.

“That was an impressive group of guys. I’m surprised that we got the whole bunch back,” Phil Jackson, who had coached most of the individuals stated, “Michael (Jordan), Scottie (Pippen ) and Horace (Grant) were all here. (It was) Truly amazing.” The only missing player was, predictably Dennis Rodman and his absence is still not explained. Steve Kerr joked, “He’s probably lying in a gutter somewhere.”

Lamar Odom seemed to get a jolt of energy from the presence of the former Bulls’ dynasty as he scored LA’s and the game’s first 7 points. The Lakers went on a 12-0 run after Aaron McKie’s block on Mike Sweetney energized the visitors. LA soon led 20-5 with 6 minutes left. However, they soon allowed the Bulls to come back and keep the game within reach as they battled back to make it 29-23 at the end of the first quarter.

The Lakers couldn’t keep up with Chicago as they seemed to move up a few gears in the second quarter. Kirk Hinrich made basket after basket and the Bulls’ big men seemed unstoppable on the glass. The highlight of the second quarter was when Tyson Chandler blocked Kobe Bryant’s shot and then dunked the ball on the other end thanks to Hinrich driving the ball the full length of the court. “That was a huge play for them (Chicago),” Kobe Bryant said, “We had no answer for them in that quarter.” The Bulls made up for their first quarter deficit and then went on a 9-0 run to take over the game.

During the halftime break, Scottie Pippen’s ceremony was undertaken as the future Hall-of-Famer spoke over the United Center’s PA system, “Thank you to Chicago for giving me so many memories over my career. The six rings were the best parts of my life and basketball career.” Michael Jordan was invited to thank his former counterpart and gave Pippen a high five before taking the microphone and saying into it, “I would like to thank Scottie for helping me win those championships. I guess we are like Batman and Robin hey Pip?” Lakers’ head coach Phil Jackson said, “It’s amazing that Scottie and I are working together for the Lakers. I consider myself lucky to have coached him because he was something very special. Thank you Scottie.”

After Pippen’s 33 was raised to the rafters, the game continued and LA seemed to have received the inspiration they were looking for as they started to heat up. Bryant scored 21 points in the third quarter including back to back three pointers in the final 2 minutes of the quarter. Odom seemed to have drawn off of his mentor’s past as he himself posted 12 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists in the third quarter. Bryant’s three pointer tied the game at 71 with about 8 minutes left in the third quarter and the Lakers’ full court press really put them ahead of the home side.

“The Lakers came back at us,” Scott Skiles, “MJ and Pip played for us, we should have been playing better but what can you do? I guess it’s only because Phil and Pip works for them now.” The Bulls had no answer for LA’s determined push as they went on a 20-0 run and took over the lead into the fourth period.

Los Angeles and Chicago came out of intermission to play a very slow paced game for a while before the Bulls turned the heat on and Kobe started to cool down. Jackson benched Bryant for a few minutes and Chicago went on a tear to get within 5 points of LA with just 3 minutes left to play. Bryant’s turnovers turned into a Bulls fast break and Lamar Odom had no choice but to foul with 1:58 left after Bryant made another errant pass. Chandler hit the one free throw and Pargo’s big three point dagger left LA demoralized.

“That was a big shot. We were down and suddenly tied. It was the bets feeling in the world,” Ben Gordon exclaimed after the game. With the game tied 114-114, the Bulls didn’t want to lose that feeling any time soon as they forced Bryant into two missed layups and let Chandler clean up the offensive glass as the 7’1” big man scored two put back dunks. LA had a chance to tie the game after Kwame Brown in the key scored with 24 seconds left and Hinrich missed a free throw. With 9 ticks left on the court, Bryant dribbled past a screen by Mihm and went for a three pointer over Chandler and Luol Deng’s outstretched arms. The shot hit the outside of the rim and the Bulls ran the clock out.

“It was a tough game,” Bryant said, “We lost to a better team though so I can’t complain.”

Notes

Scottie Pippen is now teaching Lakers’ F Lamar Odom how to play the point-forward like he did in Chicago. He was a seven time All-star in his career and with his superior defensive skills helped lead the Bulls to two three-peats alongside Michael Jordan… This was Phil Jackson’s first official NBA game that he had coached since his loss in the NBA Finals in 2004… PF Theo Ratliff was injured earlier today in the Blazers’ 95-78 loss to the Kings. He will be out for 3 weeks… Record: 0-1 (0-0) (0-1) …

Sun Nov 06, 2005 2:04 am

Tough loss in the opener. Damn, Kobe, Odom and Brown had to carry the load. Hopefully others can step up since it's a pretty wide open roster and you won't have to rely so much on those 3 players. Better luck next game.
