Perkins, Celtics Steal Game 4 from Chicago
Image

Chicago, IL - The Crowd in the United Center all stood up, holding their breaths as they watched Ben Gordon's last second shot rattle into the rim, then groaned as it popped out after going halfway down the basket.

That just about sums up Chicago's night.

The Boston Celtics steal a crucial game 4 victory away from the Bulls after getting embarrassed in game 3. Led by Kendrick Perkins, who had the game of his life with 20 points, 12 rebounds in 32 minutes of play, and Rajon Rondo, who took home player of the game honors after scoring 12 points and dishing out 12 assists in 30 minutes of play despite a sprained ankle, the Celtics narrowly escape with a 103-101 victory over the home team Bulls.

And Don't forget the Celtics Big 3, who combined for 48 points in limited minutes due to foul trouble (KG 5 fouls, Ray Allen 5 fouls, Pierce 4)

Chicago was led by their own Big 3: Derrick Rose, Sean Williams, and of course, their MVP Lamar Odom. Rose had 21 points and 10 assists, Williams had 21 points, 14 rebounds, and a game high 5 blocks, while Odom had another near triple double performance of 20 points, 15 rebounds, and 8 assists.

But Vinny Del Negro gave the ball to Ben Gordon for the final shot.

"It was a set play, he got a good look, it was halfway down, just one of those things, you cant dwell on it, gotta just accept it and move on" said Del Negro after the game "that wasn't the reason why we lost, we lost because we turned the ball over too much, we fouled too much, we made too many mistakes, those are the things we need to improve on if we were to win the next few games"

The Series is now tied at 2-2, game 5 will be back in Boston.

These close games are really tough, especially at home.

If Odom has a triple-double next game, I'll bet you to win game #2

Rondo, Celtics survive Bulls comeback, takes 3-2 lead
Image

Boston, MA - With the Bulls trailing by 4 with 5 seconds remaining, Ben Gordon came off a screen on an inbounds play, took the contact from Paul Pierce, and swished the 3 pointer as time expires, he got up from the floor and looked straight at the referee with a look of disbelief in his eye....there was no foul called on the play.

With that, the Boston Celtics survives a furious late 4th quarter comeback by the Bulls to take game 5, 125-124; and pushes the Chicago Bulls on the brink of elimination.

Rajon Rondo led the Celtics with an amazing 31 point, 18 assists, and 5 steals performance in 34 minutes of play. He was joined by Pierce and Garnett, who had 29 and 22 points respectively, KG also added in 6 rebounds and 4 assists.

The Last of the Big Three, Ray Allen had an offnight, going 2 for 10 from the field and ended up with just 4 points, he did however have 4 rebounds and 6 assists, and his down performance was minimized with the terrific play from backup PF Leon Powe, who had 8 points, a game high 13 rebounds, and also 6 assists in 27 minutes of play, filling in effectively for Celtics center Kendrick Perkins, who suffered what appears to be a strained abdomen after colliding with Bulls guard Derrick Rose while trying to take a charge, he was called for the blocking foul but more importantly, he lay on the floor in apparent pain for a few minutes before being helped to the locker room by teammates.

The Collusion occurred at the 5:46 mark in the first quarter, Perkins slide in and tried to take the charge from a Chicago fastbreak initiated by Rose off a steal. Perkins is estimated to be done for the rest of the postseason.

The Bulls were led by Lamar Odom, Ben Gordon, and Derrick Rose. Odom had a triple double of 32 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists in the loss, Ben Gordon had 26 points, including the last 3 pointer that should have been a possible 4 point play, and while Derrick Rose had 8 turnovers, he ended the game with 19 points, 16 assists, and 5 rebounds to make up for the careless mistakes.

Sean Williams had 8 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 blocks; Patrick Ewing Jr added in 7 points and 7 boards off the bench.

But they still came up short, and thus they will be heading back to Chicago with their backs against the wall, the Bulls must win game 6 to keep their season alive.

Game Notes: Chicago had 25 turnovers and 27 team fouls in comparison to the Celtics' 13 and 14.....The Bulls' bench were outscored by the Celtics bench 37-26......Del Negro made some insulting comments towards the referees regarding the last play of the game and will be fined $20,000....

Close loss man, hope you can force a game 7! :)

But if you lose, I'm happy with the progress you made with this team and next season will be even better. Sorry, I'm rooting for Beantown in this one :P

Rose, Odom Forces Game 7, Keeps Season Alive
Image

Chicago, IL - With the season on the line, the MVP/MIP and the rookie from Chicago showed the fans what they are about as they defeat the Celtics 118-83 to send the series back to Boston for a decisive game 7.

Rose took home Player of the Game honors after getting 34 points, 7 rebounds, and tied his career high with 20 assists (did it on April 13th on the road against Detroit Pistons in the regular season with 50 points and 20 assists, both career highs); he was 14 for 22 from the field, 2 for 2 from beyond the arc, and 4 for 4 from the charity stripe in 34 minutes of play.

Regular Season MVP and MIP Lamar Odom had an amazing game himself with 30 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks in 35 minutes of play, shooting 12 for 19 from the field, 1 for 1 from beyond the arc, and hitting 5 of 7 freethrows.

"Well, this was a critical game, so we just came out with intensity and played hard, and we got the win" said Odom after the game "now we just have to go back to Boston and hopefully take care of business there"

The Celtics were led by Ray Allen, who had 20 points, and Rajon Rondo, who had 12 points and 13 assists.

Both teams got off to a bad start offensively, largely due to the defensive pressure they had on one another, but Chicago found their rhythm in the second half and scored 36 in each of the second half periods while keeping Boston to 23 and 19 points in the 3rd and 4th quarter, respectively.

"They found a way to execute and we couldn't hold them down, we got lazy on our end and bailed them out with jumpers instead of attacking the paint area, that's inexcusable" said Doc Rivers, Coach of the Celtics "We only got to the line 7 times and got outscored 70 to 48 in the paint, that cannot happen when you are trying to close out an opponent"

The Series is now tied at 3-3, The final game of the series - Game 7, will be in Boston, where the Chicago Bulls will hope to overthrow the defending champs.
