Sun Dec 04, 2005 4:38 pm

thanks man..havent heard from you in a while. i was just looking for creative deals like Odom, McInnis for Simmons, Ford and Mihm for Bogut but then i tried this one, and it worked!!!

jxuusa wrote:oh damn very good trade, redd is good for nothing but shooting the lights out

yea time to shoot more! i hope this will take more shots from kobe

Jugs wrote:redd is okay...

im still trying to figure out my lineup for the Denver game. i also might move McInnis back to the starting lineup coz i dont want 3 shooters in the lineup all at once (Atkins, Kobe, Redd). ill also consider your suggestion of Kobe at the PG, Redd at SG and probably Jarvis Hayes at the SF.

KENNY SMITH ANALYSIS

This trade happened because it was all about the shots. Lamar Odom used to stay behind the three point line all the time instead of driving, which is what he’s good at. The problem is, it’s what Kobe Bryant does. So he is forced to stay behind the arc. Now, with him doing that, Odom was assigned to be shooting three-pointers. However he is not a pure shooter. That’s why he’s been struggling.

Now whenever Kobe Bryant is sitting on the bench, Phil Jackson runs the offense through Odom. He is then given the go signal of driving inside. Then whenever he does, he is unable to successfully do it. His options then are to either kick the ball out, or shoot it. Most of the time he shoots the contested shot.

One thing led to another. Odom’s gameplay led to its discussion in practice. One time, during practice, Jackson called a play that was to be executed by Odom. Odom didn’t follow and that led to a very heated discussion.

Now why is it that Mitch Kupchak talked to the Milwaukee Bucks?

The Bucks, who are at 10-21, have one-time All-Star Michael Redd, who is a pure shooter. Redd, is also unhappy with his team; not at the players, but how his team is executing.

The Lakers needed Redd to do what Odom’s doing, which is to shoot. This trade was all about the shooting. The Bucks wanted someone who didn’t shoot a lot and the Lakers wanted someone who’s capable of taking the shooting from Kobe Bryant.

As we approach the All-Star break and the trade deadline, the Lakers want to get their chemistry fixed for the home stretch. Redd quickly needs to learn his role in the Lakers’ offense in order to finish strong.

As I end this session of Kenny’s small caps, I want to point out that this is the Lakers 3rd transaction via trade this season.

Here is their opening night roster:
C-Chris Mihm
PF-Kwame Brown
SF-Lamar Odom
SG-Kobe Bryant
PG-Aaron McKie
6-Devean George
7-Brian Cook
8-Luke Walton
9-Laron Profit
10-Andrew Bynum
11-Jumaine Jones
12-Sasha Vujacic
13-Von Wafer
14-Slava Medvedenko
15-Tony Bobbit

Gone from the team are Devean George, Brian Cook, Jumaine Jones, Laron Profit, Sasha Vujacic, Aaron McKie and now Lamar Odom.

In return they got Robert Horry, Jeff McInnis, Andray Blatche, Jarvis Hayes, Chucky Atkins and Michael Redd.

It will be interesting to see what’ll happen to the Lakers and the Bucks as the season goes on. They face each other again on March 21 at STAPLES Center.

Last time these teams faced each other, Lamar Odom’s three pointer fell short at the buzzer, resulting in the Bucks’ win.

Here are the numbers in the trade:

TO THE SUPPORTERS OF THIS DYNASTY:

i guess your wondering why i havent been updating it.

the problem is, i tried advancing this thing and when i got to the off-season, it crashed when i reach "re-sign players". as of now im trying to sort of fix this problem. thats why i havent been updating this. hopefully the error can be resolved.

NOTE: I am NOT ending this dynasty yet...

Sun Dec 11, 2005 12:24 pm

Hey Isaiah this might sound kind of insignificant in compared to you fixed your crashing problem... but were you able to save your end of season pstat file? Just curious and I don't mean to be insensitive to your crashing situation... ...I know your last submission to the board was for mid-season.

Sun Dec 11, 2005 12:57 pm

have i reached the minumum number of games already? im still 19-15. i simmed the season but i didnt save it yet so in my dynasty schedule i have yet to play my 34th game against Denver.

MICHAEL REDD PERFECTS HIS DEBUT FOR THE LAKERS

Michael Redd led the way early, scoring 20 points while shooting 7-for-7 from the field, including 5-for-5 from 3-point range in his sweet debut for the Los Angeles Lakers as they win, 109-84, snapping a 4-game losing streak.

11 of those 20 points came in the 1st quarter, where the Lakers as a team shot 6-for-9 from 3-point territory. In that quarter, Kobe Bryant scored 4 points and had 7 assists. In total Bryant teamed up with Redd to score 24 points, dish out 12 assists and 5 steals. The only bad side of Bryant's numbers were his 7 turnovers.

Redd only played in 10 minutes due to his foul trouble. He had 2 early fouls in the 1st quarter, then had to sit out. Late in the 2nd quarter he picked up his 3rd foul. Early in the 3rd, he picked up his 4th foul, which drew boos from the Staples Center crowd of 18, 997. He sat out until the closing minutes of the game, where he hit a 3-pointer to extend the Lakers' lead to 25.

Carmelo Anthony and Kenyon Martin each scored 20 points for the Nuggets, who trailed all game long. Andre Miller scored 13, Marcus Camby scored 12 and Voshon Lenard scored 10.

The Lakers shot 72.2% from the field in the 4th quarter (13-of-18) including 80% from 3-point range (4-of-5). Mihm had a slam dunk to extend it to 82-63. After an Andre Miller layup, Chucky Atkins hit a three to make it 88-67. Then off a steal, Bryant hit a 3 to extend it to 91-67, and the crowd was simply on their feet. A short while later, Redd hit his killer 3-pointer to make it 100-75.

NOTES: Bryant had only 8 points at halftime, shooting 3-of-11, but had 9 assists...In the 2nd quarter, the Nuggets went on a 12-7 run to cut down the lead to 47-38. After that, the Nuggets got no closer than 15...The only Laker who didn't play was Slava Medvedenko. Everyone else played and scored.

REDD'S RECORD BREAKING NIGHT NOT ENOUGH

Raefer Alston hit a huge jumper with 3:43 left to put Houston up 109-95 before Michael Redd hit six three pointers the rest of the way to cut the lead down to 115-113. However, the Lakers had the ball while down 117-113 when Redd missed a wide-open three pointer with 7.4 seconds left as the Rockets hold on to give LA a 118-113 loss.

Michael Redd hit 6 three pointers in a span of 3:36 to bring the Lakers back en route to 45 points, including a record-breaking 13 three-pointers. Overall he shot 13-of-21 from behind the arc and 15-of-23 overall.

Kobe Bryant, who last shared the record with Donyell Marshall with 12 three-pointers, shot 3-of-7 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points on only 9-of-22 shooting.

Houston had a more balanced attack with Yao Ming leading the way with 29 points and pulling down 18 rebounds, while Alston, despite shooting 7-of-25 from the field, had also 29 points. Majority of his points came from the foul line, since he was the one being fouled on every Rockets' posession down the stretch. Tracy McGrady had a somewhat quiet night with only 20 points.

NOTES: Chucky Atkins came off the bench, scoring 11 points before fouling out. He out-scored the entire Houston bench 11-8. Bob Sura and Juwan Howard had only 4 points each off the bench for Houston...LA's bench out-scored Houston's 28-8 but still lost...Houston had only 8 turnovers as compared to the Lakers' 17. 6 of those came from Kwame Brown.
