AP Boston,Mass.- Ray Allen and his agent have notified Danny Ainge that he wants a contract extension before the end of the season. Sources close to the situation say that Ainge is not willing to commit to Allen beyond this year, and he prefers to handle all free agents after the draft. This could mean the beginning of the end for the "Big Three".

Danny Ainge has said that he will do whatever it takes to keep this Celtics team a threat to contend every season. Everyone needs to enjoy the season, because it looks like the team will have some big decisions to make this off-season. In addition to Allen, Kevin Garnett's contract is also up after this season.

Ray Allen tears ACL, out for season, possibly his carreer

Image

The Celtics announced today that guard, Ray Allen has torn his ACL. He will miss the rest of the season, and with his age, most people are wondering if he has played his last game in the NBA.

Coach Doc Rivers had this to say,"Ray is very important to our team, and you hate to see this happen to a stand up guy like him, now don't ask me if we are going to make a move, because I will not answer that right now". Rivers also would not comment on who would start in place of Allen, but one can assume that it will be Iverson or Marquis Daniels.

Allen Iverson Media Session

Image

Reporter: Allen, how does it feel to be starting again in the NBA?

Iverson: Well I have mixed emotions about it, because Ray is out for the season, and nobody wanted that to happen.

Reporter: Have you been going to all of the team practices?

Iverson: We talking about Practice?(laughs), Yeah I'm at every practice, I usually get their before everyone else...well except KG, he is a beast.

Reporter: Some people are saying that you might make the All-Star game with the fan vote, do you think you can play at that high of a level again?

Iverson: of course I am confident in my abilities, but it's not even about that, this season is about 18 for the Celtics, not about Allen Iverson the individual.

Reporter: Do you think it will be hard to adjust to Rondo controlling the ball more, since you are used to being the ball handler on the floor?

Iverson: I don't think so, if anything it will help me more, because he will be using his energy getting the ball up the floor, besides im a shooter and have always been able to work off the ball well. I will say this, the league better watch out because Me and Rondo are gonna be bringing the pressure on the defensive end of the floor.

On Second Thought

Image

Well, it was fun while it lasted, but today the Boston Celtics sent out an email to the press letting everyone know that Rasheed Wallace would be retiring again. Wallace played in only six games for the Celtics this season, he averaged 2 points and 3 boards per game.

The Celtics are expected to make a move to replace Wallace, but don't expect it to be a big move. Sources say that a 10-day contract to one of the D-Leaue players on the Red Claws is most likely.

TNT Breaking News

Image

EJ: We are hearing reports out of Boston that the Celtics are on the verge of acquiring Ben Wallace from the Pistons. keep in mind nothing official has happened yet.

Charles: awww hell! Are they trying to lead the league in players that have hip replacements? This team is turruble, and old that's why they only have 9 wins right now.

Kenny: Well, Chuck they need to get bigger, and this does that. I think Ben can come in there and he will fit in with Doc Rivers and that team.

EJ: again nothing has happened yet, we don't even know what Boston will be giving up.
