OJ Mayo heading to NOLA for Fields.

We have just learnt that the New Orleans Hornets have completed a deal that gives them OJ Mayo, the Grizzlies 2008 first round pick (3rd overall) has found himself in the doghouse with Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins after 2 sub par seasons in Memphis where he saw his scoring average, minutes, field goal percentage and role with the team decline he had returned to true form this season starting the first 11 games for the Grizzlies averaging 17.2ppg on 48% shooting 43% from downtown and 80% at the line.

The Hornets will part ways with 3 players - Landry Fields, Gustavo Ayon and rookie Jordan Taylor.

New Orleans snatched up Landry in the summer hoping that he could fill the shoes of Eric Gordon but that was short lived which isnt fair to Fields as he isnt a big scorer which is what this team needs right now.

His main problem was that all the other good things he did other than score in NY we werent seeing in NOLA so he was just blowing in the wind and sending most 4th quarters sitting on the bench, in Mayo they get a scoring punch as well as a point guard who can spot for Vasquez until Jack returns from a torn ACL something that has kept the 11/12 nba's most improved player sidelined for over 6 months now.
