Celtics were no match against Lakers![]() Paul Pierce (#34) unable to handle Kobe Bryant (dunking). November 1, 2010 Los Angeles, CA -- Critics .PorkyJoker.o6, Martti. and Darantula_MVP were right - the weak Celtics today fell to the mighty Lakers. Even though Rajon Rondo, starting point guard, and Ben Wallace, starting center, fully recovered from their injuries, Celtics were still humiliated in front of their fans. From the first quarter, the Lakers controlled the game, ahead by double digits. After successfully defending Celtics' leader Paul Pierce, the Lakers built onto their lead, increasing it to 33 points by halftime. After the 15-minute break, the situation did not improve for the Celtics as Lakers continued to dominate in the paint, penetrating Celtics' defense during every possession. At the end of the third quarter, Lakers' lead rose to 42 points! Comfortably in the lead, Lakers relaxed during the fourth quarter, bringing out the benchwarmers. The Celtics worked towards reducing deficit a little bit, as it was too late for them to win the game. They clambered out of the 42 point deficit to 29 point deficit just before the buzzer sounded, signaling a victory to the defending champions Lakers. "We went in and swept the Celtics. I expected a tough and dramatic game, but what do ya know? Teams change," told the media Kobe Bryant, who recorded 26 points. Bryant was perfect from behind the arc, 3 from 3, and made impressive rim-rocking dunks that helped Lakers increase the lead. Pau Gasol, the game's MVP with 15 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals, was of different opinion. "It's good that we won, but the Celtics had an equal chance. Shots were not going in so easily for them, and we were on fire. If the opposite were true, they could have won too." Lamar Odom impressed everyone with a terrific performance, putting down 18 points and making 4 assists. "I was wide open many times, so why not? I just go and dunk," he shrugged. For the Celtics, Paul Pierce was the high point man with 33 points. However, it was also an unlucky day for him and his teammate Rajon Rondo, as the Lakers forced 8 turnovers from him and 4 turnovers from Rondo. "We played sloppy defense and shots wouldn't go in for us," said Rondo at the press conference. "We were to slow in transition and were guarded most of the time. But during the last quarter, we made some improvement and stepped up the game." Following another incident on court, Paul Pierce could not be reached for comment. Kurt Thomas of Celtics had a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. |
